Thanks for visiting. We have been out today and checked out the route to Stansted. Unfortunately the M25 was in a sad state. So much so that we decided to continue clockwise and go right round the orbital motorway instead of back the way we came. Then we got caught up in a huge traffic jam. We finally got to an opportunity to come off and head in the opposite direction. More hold-ups - but we eventually got home. It was well worth doing in order to check out where the car-park that we have booked is. It seems silly to think that we spent over five hours on the motorway and didnt really go anywhere.

I am definately looking forward to my holiday.

People do make all sorts of judgements about us. I find it strange that people do not guess the size that I was because inside my head I have not changed too much. I still get surprised when I see myself.

Kim
You looked pretty good in that photo that you put in your diary with your husband a couple of months ago. It seems to me that all those gym sessions of yours have paid off big time already. When you see my weight you have to remember that I am only 5ft3 so will be a lot plumper than you were in the 130s. Talking of photos - I never saw those photos that you had done for your hubby's birthday. I am sure that you were going to show one or two around a few choice friends. Now talking of lucky husbands - yours is pretty lucky himself........

Kimberly
You spotted right - I did get a new low today. 9st4.2 or 130.2 to be exact. I will admit that I was pretty pleased. I had salmon last night..... I often wonder why I dont have salmon more often.

I have indeed see "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". In fact - not only did I think that it was hilarious - all my Greek friends thought that it was hilarious too. The really funny thing was that it is all true. They are all named after their grandparents in a set order (first daughter after mother's mother, second daughter after father's mother, first son after father's father, second son after mother's father) so they all end up having the same name as one of their cousins from just about each branch of the family.

Stacy
I am sure that you will love it when you get to see the sea. The beaches in England do not really compare to those on Rhodes. The thing is - it is wonderful to think that I will have guaranteed good weather. Here we are in August and it rained all day today. There really is not a week of the year in England that you feel that you are guaranteed to get good sunny weather. I cannot complain because I know that you and all my friends over there contend with much more gruelling weather extremes - but it is nice to think that on a set day it will be nice enough to eat outside or sit outside.

Take care
Love
Margaret

130.2!!!!!!
Way to go Margaret!!!!
Wow I am impressed that you are so far into your project and you still consistantly lose weight.
YOU ROCK!

Thanks Dawn.
The fact is that my weight does wiggle about - but thankfully the general trend is still downwards.
I was pleased to note that my weight was even lower again today (9st3.6 or 129.6 pounds) - although I am very much aware that it will probably be up again tomorrow. Still even if we have to weigh on empty, wear light clothes (e.g. shorts) and weigh ourselves before eating but after walking 7 miles - we love seeing those new lows happen. The thing is that we did all that to get the last new low too. We cannot fiddle the low situation - even if we kid ourselved that our weight is maybe a couple of pounds lighter than most sane weighers would be claiming to be.

For the record - it is the first time that I have been this weight since 1986. That is 22 years.

Congrats on hitting the 120s!!!

That is absolutely brilliant! So well done!

So is it true about the Windex spray as a Greek cure all? :smilielol5: That is such a funny movie. They did a few episodes of a sitcom spinoff, but it got cancelled very quickly.

The only city in the world with more Greeks in it than Melbourne, Australia is Athens..lol, so David is very familiar with them, and he said her parents' house in the movie looks just like the Greek houses in Melbourne. :smilielol5:

Holy Schmoly!!!!
Girl you.............
TOTALLY ROCK!!!!
I can't wait until my numbers start ticking down like yours.
With my biking plan I have to think it won't take long!
Way to go M!!!!!

Congrats on hitting the 120s, that's an amazing amount of progress since the last time I was here!!!

Great job. That's amazing. :D Walk it out girl!

Oh Margaret, hell yes, you did it woman!!!!

120s!! Sliding into a 22 BMI....oh that is heart warming, and after all the efforts and walking and struggles with cereal and all LOL!!!

And Greece! Life is good, ain't it? This has been the best August ever! For me, anyway :D

Everyone else gets to say congratulations, and I want to to! CONGRATULATIONS! Under 130! I hope you feel satisfied. I've been gone a couple weeks and you continue to do well. It's amazing to come back and see how much weight you've dropped. I'm sure it was hard work, but to me, its all of a sudden, and I'm very impressed. Keep it up! You make me want to be like you!

Oh, Margaret, 120s--that's splendid! Congratulations. I am, as always, in awe of your resolution and hard work.

Sophie

Thanks for visiting. Thanks for all the messages of congratulations for the new low that I got on Sunday. That all seems such a long time ago! Sorry that I went a bit missing! Much as I predicted (I hate day to day fluctuations not to mention water retention!!!) my weight went up on Monday. To add insult to injury my weight has now shot up and I have the joy of water retention and TOM. The one good thing is that I did not start retaining water a whole week before the event as normally happens. I really dont want to change my ticker as I like the ticker weight too much - so I will leave it where it is for the next week or so at which time I would normally expect to be heading back to my pre-TOM low. For the record - my weight Tuesday was 9st6.4 or 132.4 pounds. I haven’t weighed for Wednesday yet as I am about to go out walking in a minute.

I am having a bit of a busy week here anyway with doctors appointments, dentist appointments (root canal work is always such fun), getting things organised for the holiday on top of my normal stuff including all my normal walking.

Thanks. It doesn’t matter that my weight is back up really because I always get that at this time of the month – and I know that the territory is regained. If I just keep on doing what I am doing the water weight will drop back off.

I found that it was helpful for me to try and pick food as much as possible from the core list - but keep a total of the points too. That way you can focus on healthy food ideas - while having the points sanity check that the quantity of food made sense. It is a bit of extra counting up – but helped me to settle in.

Kimberly
I am not so sure about the Windex spray notion - but I can say that the Greeks are the biggest load of hypochondriacs known to mankind. The amount of times that I knew one person treck to umpteen specialists in order to get second / third / fourth opinions about a wart on her hand is nobodies business. I swear that most people would pop into the chemist and sort it out for themselves. Rod was convinced that one dermatologist saying "its a wart" was overkill for the situation - never mind all the second opinions.

I will say that most Greeks that I know seem to swear by lemon juice. Just what you need for bites etc. When I am there I find myself getting into that mentality too. People give you lemons from their lemon trees - you never know when the odd little emergency will arise. Then you eat out and get chunks of lemon as a garnish to your food or drink. Dont leave it behind - you never know when you might need it. Pop it in a little plastic bag in your shoulder bag so that you have it available to you.

Among all the Greek Greeks that we know - we also know quite a number of Australian Greeks and American Greeks that moved back to the island when the parents wanted to retire and move back.

The village is a mixture of modern buildings and old traditional houses.

Valerie

It is great that you are having the best August ever. I am not sure that I would say that I am having that – I have had some pretty good Augusts over the years. Augusts spent entirely in Greece were pretty good – also ones when I was young. Being 49 years old does kind of put a dampener on some things. The joy of being young!

Being able to wear clothes – even after you have put on a couple of pounds – that you couldn’t think of wearing a couple of months ago is a very good feeling though! When I master the art of turning the clock back and get the location right I will be all set.
