Omega's journey

Thanks for visiting.

Anke, Becky, Kimberly
I certainly am looking forward to my holiday. It will be great to see lots of my friends and also to relax in the sun. The weather in England is pretty poor considering that it is August and this will be about as good as the weather will get for the rest of the year. It is raining most days. I shouldnt complain as I know that a lot of people get a lot worse weather than us in winter.

My weight is starting to come down and I weighed in today at 9st5.2 which is 131.2 and just 1.6 pounds up from my low weight. This is most welcome as I did hit 9st9.4 (135.4) last week. Water has much to answer for!!!

It is amazing to think that I have had this body for 49 years and never knew how much I retain water until last year. There are so many people that speak against weighing every day - but honestly - I have found weighing every day to be an absolute revelation about how my body works.

As far as Greece goes - I'm counting the days now!

I am actually telling myself that the burst of eating / less exercise may do my metabolism some good and help me get off the last few pounds so my body appreciates the work when I get back on track. I dont know whether it makes any sense - but it sounds good to me. I like that theory - and would love to think that it will make maintenance easier too!

It just might! Either way, your body may just retain a bunch of water like you said--you might even not have a whole lot of surplus calories, so chin up and enjoy!!!!:D

I like the theory - but strongly suspect that I will end up having a heap of surplus calories. I have friends with bees (so have their own honey) that make all sorts of honey treats that are just impossible to resist - in fact I fully intend on eating them. I dont normally count calories and am not going to start now. I will just try to be good when I can and see how I go.

As long as you stop eating when you are no longer hungry you'll be fine. I read this article on French women and why they are supposedly so thin, and it said that the women pay closer attention to internal than external cues--i.e., they STOP eating when they are satiated, instead of calorie-counting or whatever. I thought, screw the Frenchies, and I started paying attention to my own internal cues and that's when I was able to lose weight without counting calories. I notice it helps if I don't stuff myself at dinner. Good luck with the honey!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Margaret, I'm so excited for you, can I hide in your luggage? lol I could probably scroll back but I didn't catch when get to leave for Greece? And vacation...I can't think of a better time to take a break and not worry about everything you eat. Like you said I'm sure if you do gain it won't be much and won't take long to take back off. I was a dummy last summer and attempted to diet when I went back to Cali to visit family. I ended up going hungry on the plane and sick by the time I got there. I managed to stick it out most of my trip with the exception of eating out about 3x but it really put a damper on things to have to work that hard to avoid carbs. Then when I got home I was so sick of the whole thing I threw my diet to the winds anyway, lol. Anyway thats just me and I don't need much of an excuse it seems. I don't see you doin that either way but my point is just that I think you're theory is a good one :) Hope you have an awesome time and bring back pics to post *hugz* Lisa

mmm - i love fresh berries! Margaret with your self control , I cant see you really gaining much if you do. You are the most controlled person I have met...really trully amazing!!! Even if you do gain you will take it right back off as you and we all know! ANd I agree with you it might be good for your metabolism to get a little shocked:)!

Yep, everyone is different.
I'm pleased that this helps you and works for you.
It seems that it has been a big part of your success. ;)

I'd be counting the days down to! :D

Have A Goal Reachin' Day sweetie.

Glad to hear the weight is coming back down. I know how frustrating those big spikes can be.

At least you now have the treadmill for those rainy days. Much better than doing the drowned rat impression. :biggrinjester:

How is Rod doing? Is he still getting on the treadmill?

Hi again Margaret. :)

I thought you may want to check this out.

It could add a 'fresh step' so to speak re: walking. :D

Walking Calendar - (Step 5; Under the Top 5 Topic)

I have mine set up to start on Monday.

:seeya:

Hi Margaret! Long time since I've been on here. I see that you are under 130! What a milestone that must have been for you. I am always amazed to see your motivation and drive! So you are planning a trip to Greece? I have always wanted to visit there, but I think I'll have to wait until I get some money in the bank account! I'm still sticking to the working out/eating and have maintained at about 115 lbs, but been super busy so haven't been on here much. It's nice to see you are doing so well! I love knowing that you don't count calories yet still manage to do so well. I was counting calories for a while, but now I just eat mostly food that I know is good for me, and hope it works out :). Anyhway, so nice to see you are doing well! Congrats on getting below 130!

Thanks for visiting and your good wishes. Well it has been a bit of a topsy turvy few days. I have been very busy getting ready to go to Greece and have had a fair bit of other stuff on my mind too. Added to all that I had the fun of more root canal work and you can probably guess the kind of week I have had and why I have been so absent (which is reasonably unlike me). The good news is that I didnt take my stress out too much in food consumption (although I did have the odd lapse - I had one night where I actually ate far too many raisins - I must be the only person in the world that would report a raisin binge on a weight forum!!!!). I had a slight gain the next day. I got down to my low weight on Saturday - exactly 13 days after I previously had it. My body is so predictable - it often takes me 13 days to get back to my pre-TOM low. Sunday brought a new low of 9st3.0 or 129.0 but it was short lived. Weight is back up a bit - but that is not surprising as yesterday I got a beautiful empty weighing. In fact I did such a good job of it that the toilet got blocked and we had to pay £172.72 (I think that is $350 to many of my friends out there) to get it sorted out. See what I go through to get a new low.

I do hope that you are having a great holiday - I am sure that you will be. I wish that I had popped over to your diary to wish you a good time before you left. I try to pay attention to the internal feelings of having had enough - indeed it is a key part of what we speak about at WW - especially regarding their "core" plan. The only problem is that sometimes I get those feelings - yet I also get an absolutely irresistible urge to keep on eating despite it. I had that situation a few days ago. I actually kept on eating until I was really uncomfortably full. I realised it and just kept on eating. It was possibly something to do with stress - but it is exactly what happened.

Lisa
If I could smuggle you out to Greece I would. I think that it would cost as much for you to get here to get into my luggage as to get to Greece though! I leave the house for Greece at about 5am Wednesday - so my last posting from home will be Tuesday. I will certainly put every effort into having a good time and will post a picture or two when we get back home.

Each time I go to the dentist I have been picking about 4 litres of blackberries. It is such a waste not to take some containers and pick them on the way home. I have been eating tons of them - in my jellies, etc. I had some mixed with Total 0% Greek yoghurt today and yesterday. I try to be controlled - but I am not always as controlled as I would like. Trying to keep to something that I basically consider to be healthy food and keep up my exercise when I lose control seems to work really well for me though.

Stacy
I am seriously considering trying to buy some scales to have in Greece. I think that I will enjoy myself more if I know where I stand. We will see! Thanks for the link. I had a quick look but it will not be worth me starting anything until I get back from Greece. I will give it a go then. I hope that it works well for you.

Rod had not used the treadmill for about a week but has this past week renewed his efforts to try to lose weight. He is doing at least a mile on the treadmill every day and is getting quite firm in his attention to food. We are both hoping that he can lose some weight soon. Even I accept that walking will not really be much of an option in the heat that is there at this time of year - so I cannot expect him to be firm in circumstances where I know that I will waver.

I have to say that despite the fact that my weightloss has been on the slow side recently - I am really pleased with the way that it is going. I am still nudging downwards and I accept the fact that I now have a healthy BMI so we are dealing in pure vanity now. I am so pleased to hear that you are maintaining successfully at 115. Eating healthy food without counting calories is so much less arduous than trying to weigh / measure / count everything you have. I am pleased to hear that it is working well for you. I am sure that you will have some great holidays very soon. One of my friends is married to a doctor and they often seem to be off to one corner of the world or another. I do remember that they didnt travel around too much and that he worked long hours in hospitals when he was in his twenties though. Your time will come!

Take care
Love
Margaret

Despite the dried fruit binge, you sound like you're doing awesome, Marg. I couldn't be more happy for you!! (((Big Hugs)))

Hey, snatch me up to go to Greece, too dearly. That sounds like it would be a blast, not to mention, I'm sure the scenery is beautiful. I've never been outside the states but I'm hoping to one one day, maybe visit Italy or...England ;) You'll have loads of fun, I'm sure.

Doesn't it honestly feel wonderful to have a healthy, steady, BMI now? And I know what you mean about vanity creeping it's way in. I too am finally at a healthy BMI, but I still want to lost a couple more lbs soely for the fact that I will personally feel more comfortable. This is the way it is for most of us, I think. We may look good to outsiders but deep within ourselves, we still want to walk that extra mile to reach larger, better destination.

I hope you're having a great Monday, honey!!

LMAO@ your raisin binge..lol. You are so darn cute. I could just hug you right now. I wish I'd have raisin binges instead of ice cream or pizza binges...lol. No wonder you had such good bathroom action. :biggrinjester:

I can't believe it's time for you to fly off to Greece already. I'll so excited for you, but I'll miss you, too. Luckily I have my stupid condo to keep me busy in your absence. :toetap05:

Funnily enough, I was flipping through the tv channels the other night when what was on? Why My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding, of course. :biggrinjester: I came in on it towards the end--right before his parents met her family and they were roasting a lamb on the front lawn. Such a funny movie.

Have a fantastic trip, and congrats on the new low! :hurray:

Hey Margaret!

Have an amazing time in Greece! I will be there too one day on one of my many forthcoming travels!!!

I'm always amazed how you managed to lose so much weight! You're definitely giving me a good reason to stick with trying to lose weight, because you're the best example that it is actually possible!!! :)

Hope you'll have a fantastic time in Greece! I'm sure it'll be nice to escape the British drizzle!! *lol*

Hey Margaret :) I'm thinking you must be having a fabulous time in Greece right about now since you haven't posted in a bit. At least I hope you are :) I can't wait to hear how great it was and see pics. ~Lisa
