Omega's journey

Yeah, another new low?? Congrats. I'm happy your back safely from your trip and like you I can't wait for summer, I'm a sunshine hot weather girl myself, I can't wait!! I love to swim, so I spend a lot of time in our pool.

Have a wonderful weekend Margaret!

Congrats Marg, on the new low and making it to Newcastle without incident.

Like you, I too enjoy the Summer weather. I'm a HUGE sun lover. I could lay outside for hours on a beatiful day. Not only is it invigorating, it's a big de-stresser for me. It really helps calm me down if something is frustrating me. Not to mention, I'll get to run in the sunshine this year. I cannot wait.

Five cups of cabbage was the best choice, imo. Though I like dancing, I hear 'complicated' in the level of dance they want you to perform. So even though I'm not too keen on cabbage, I would have learned to like it so I wouldn't have to embarass myself. Haha.

I agree that it's hard when, after two weeks of strenuous trying, there are no results, but we have to remember that it's the long run that counts. We may not see results right away, but we certainly will a month from now. I know your mindset is to hang in there and I'm totally with you on this. It'll all count in the end, you know this, I know this, and this forum knows this.

I'm proud of you Marg. You're doing so well with all of this. I wish I could be half as spunky as you when I'm older. You rock, chica!!

So glad to hear that you made it to New Castle without any problems.
Kimberly said she thought you would like to try this weeks roadblock/challenge. If you want tis fine with me. If not I will give it a go. I figure if nothing else possibly SweetiePea will show me how in person. Hopefully. LOL
Anyhow hope you have a nice time visiting with all your family and friends.
As for me it is off to the freezer once again. And beings how it is one week until Easter we will absolutely be crazy busy.
I'll catch up with you on Monday.
Later Gator

Congrats on your new low:)There is a New Castle Island just off of Vancouver Island out here where I live - it is one of the gulf islands. Good for you for walking first and then going Margaret...your so dedicated:) Glad to hear all went well with your visit:D!!!

Thanks for visiting. I had a few problems with the computer up here in Newcastle - but hubby seems to have ironed out the main of them - the only remaining problem being that one of the shift keys is not working and the keyboard is sticky - so if I have more problems than normal - please forgive me.

Friday is going really well - I got a long walk in this morning and have been shopping so my pedometer is currently on 9.11 miles. I am quite pleased with that.

Cabbage is indeed an acquired taste - and I know that some people did want to eat their cabbage raw - but the rule was that it had to be boiled. This week there is a video that one member of the team needs to imitate / replicate - but Dawn has volunteered to do it for our team.

Healthy weightloss is one of those things which cannot really be hurried up - it happens in its own time whether we are patient or not. It would be so nice if there was a simple formula that says to eat this amount of calories and that amount of exercise and you are guaranteed to lose x pounds in a week. It may seem that way in the early weeks (if you are lucky) but it certainly doesnt get that way deep into the project. I have given up trying to work out how long it will take me to get to goal.

Kimberly

I must admit that I am pleased to be spending a few days in Newcastle. I knew that I had no chance of getting here for Easter as hubby refuses to hit the motorways on Easter weekend because they are always so slow. We didnt get up two weeks ago when it was Mother's Day in this country (I know that it is different over where you are). I was feeling a bit guilty about missing those - and then there is the fact that my father was having some minor laser surgery today to remove scarring to one of his eyes. We came up and all has gone well.

You were right - I got a new low today 11st 1.2lbs (155.2 pounds). It really all depends on how the scales treat us and how they treat everyone else. One team will be eliminated - I just hope that it isnt us.

Kim

We arrived safe and sound - and have the joys of the return journey home to face on Monday. The weather has been quite bright today - but the summer will be most welcome. Have had a bit of shopping spree today which was fun and we got a lot of things that I need.

Rae

The thing about the dance was that it had the potential for me to injure myself if it went wrong. I really do not want to take the risk of not being able to walk for a while. I actually used to really love dancing when I was young. Naturally I was not fit enough to dance for many many years - but I love doing my aerobics now which seems to really key into the same sort of thing for me. When I was a child and teenager I took lots of dancing lessons and passed lots of dancing qualifications. I have a whole load of certificates, medals and trophies for it. My teacher was a former British champion. I actually thought seriously about becoming a dance teacher - but in the end I decided that I would have a better and more predictable career by using my brain.

I really cannot wait until I am pretty much at goal like you are. You have done so well and achieved what I wish to achieve. With the strength of character that you have shown you will probably be ruling the world when you get to my age. I must say that I think that you are pretty amazing too.

Dawn

I havent had an opportunity to check out the videos yet but from the description I have to say that it sounds like fun. I am delighted for you to do it for the challenge though. I dont envy you being extra busy at work and I certainly do not envy you for working in the freezer. It may be the ideal opportunity for you to wear your HRM at work - it will encourage you that you burn a ton of calories at work.

Cerella

Thanks for your congratulations on my new low. These events are always most welcome. I was pleased to get my walk in before travelling yesterday. I know that on Monday I will not be able to walk before the journey home as we are setting off early. Hopefully I will get some sort of walk in when I get home.

Take care

Congrats on another new low!! :hurray:

Wow--that is interesting about your dance history. I am jealous, as I wish I was a good dancer, but I have two left feet--it's hopeless. :D Have you thought about doing ballroom competition? That would be so cool. :D

I'm glad your dad's surgery went well, and that you're enjoying your time up North. I'm sure your parents understand you not being able to get there for Easter and Mother's Day.

Thanks for visiting.

Kimberly

My dancing is astoundingly rusty having not danced at all since I was in my twenties. It was funny because one aerobics teacher includes salsa bits and the one time that I did body jam it included a few bits. I thought - this is familiar - it might have something to do with me having done quite a bit of latin american dancing in my youth (stuff like cha-cha, jive, samba, rumba, paso doble). I was actually slightly higher qualified in old time sequence dancing. I did all that stuff in my youth - I was that kid being dressed up in fancy outfits consisting of about a million yards of net covered in chiffon or satin and decorated with a zillion rhinestones or sequins and beads.

I dont think that my figure is appropriate for dancing at the minute and I know that hubby will not be volunteering anytime soon to participate! I will be pretty happy to keep to my aerobics for the minute. It seems to press the same buttons for me.

I actually treated myself to a box set of a couple of DVDs today:
Rosemary Conley - shape up and salsacise
Rosemary Conley - slim and salsacise

I will not get the chance to do them until I get home.

I was pleased that things went well for my Dad. It was a minor procedure - but no-one likes having things done to their eyes and when you are aged 90 even minor things can be difficult.

Eldaweesda

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I hope that things are going well for you too.

Take care

Hi Margaret! CONGRATULATIONS - you are now at my goal! LOL Way to go, you have earned it. Keep on doing what you are doing!

cheers

Bah--your figure is fine for dancing. I have a college buddy who did competitive ballroom and she was 5'10" and about 300+lbs at the time. If you'd enjoy doing it, I say go for it! Hubby doesn't have to be your partner. I'm sure you could find one at a local dance studio--my friend did--he was gay (big surprise). :D

I'm sure you'll enjoy your new dance dvds. :)

Margaret,

Congrats on a new low! I'm telling you, you have been having a wonderful few weeks. I'm glad things are going well in the weight loss department, esp since you ditched the raisins ;).

Also glad to hear your father's surgery went well. You're right, it's always scary doing something to someone's body when they're 90, no matter how small it is!

The new DVDs you bought sound fun! I always enjoy having someone DVDs for those days I am just not in the mood to go to the gym. At the moment, my collection is rather small, but I'm hoping to add a DVD every couple months. I don't have any dance ones because I am horribly uncoordinated, but those always sound like so much fun!

Hope you have a safe journey back home on Monday!!!!!!

Marg, I was so close to tears reading what you wrote to me. That's probably the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me and it's really tugging on my heart strings. Thank you so much, dear. I really am speechless.

Hey Margaret im glad to hear all went well with your Dad's procedure:) Your vids sound fun and entertaining - the closest I come to dancing is DDR (Dance, Dance, Revolution) It is a dance mat with four arrows that you follow on the tv - however - I would love to take up lessons when I get more comfy with my body - it is excellent exercise!

Thanks for visiting. I have hardly managed to do anything on the forum today. Had a very busy day - walking in the morning - then straight into town for a laser appointment (to sort out my facial hair). Then to the shops where I managed to get a new jacket. It was inexpensive and it will be nice to wear one that fits. Had a short rest before it was a supermarket trip and then we spent the evening with friends. Just home and it is well after midnight.

Janice

You will hit your goal weight before we know it. You are so close.

Angel

Thanks. Only one pound away from that 11 stone mark.

Kimberly

When I danced everyone was skinny. I felt chunky and in reality I wasnt really. I am sure that I will enjoy doing the DVDs. I really enjoy my aerobics. I booked my Friday lessons within 2 hours of the bookings opening because I know that class will fill up very quickly.

Priti

I am pleased that I ditched the raisins because I have managed to cope without them and I know that they brought a lot of calories into my daily diet. I certainly feel like I have eaten more with fruit.

I am thinking that I should buy an extra DVD every so often too. It would be nice to build up quite a nice little collection. I suspect that I will favour the dance ones though.

Rae

You have achieved things that many people would never manage to achieve.

Cerella

I have seen that dance mat thing once some six years or so years ago. A bowling alley that I visited with colleagues had one. I was naturally at my biggest then and certainly didnt have a go. One of the lads that I worked with was very good at it though.

Getting comfy with our bodies is easier said than done. Even though I have lost quite a lot - I will have to lose a fair bit more before I feel comfortable with my body. Having said that - I am really pleased that I do aerobics because not only do I enjoy it but it definitely is good exercise. Start taking the lessons as soon as you can afford it and have the opportunity. We could wait forever to truly feel comfortable with our bodies.

Take care

Hey Margaret,

Its nice to see everything is well. Sounds like you had a hectic day! I hope you have a great day tomorrow.

Trevor

It's true what you said Marg, about it taking a while to be comfortable with our bodies. I've been losing weight for three years and just now, I'm starting to feel remotely comfortable with myself. I'm not completely satisfied with my body, and it will probably take me a while until I am to an extent of high self-confidence. Perhaps in time, we'll both feel really, really good about ourselves together.

Have a great Sunday, honey. (((big hugs)))

When I danced everyone was skinny. I felt chunky and in reality I wasnt really.

That may have been true then, but people are a lot heavier in general now than they were in the 80s. :)

I'm glad you had a good if not busy Saturday. Meeting up with friends you haven't seen in awhile is always fun.

:waving:Hi, Margaret! Come on over and see some new pics I posted in honor of hitting the 50 lbs down mark! I posted in my diary and also a new thread on the Now, then, and In between part.

Thanks for visiting. I am sorry that I havent been around much and am so late in replying.

Had another busy day Sunday when we went to see some good friends of ours that live in a rural area about 40 miles out of Newcastle. We had a really enjoyable time - but for the second day running I did eat in a way that did certainly not adhere to my normal food plan. I enjoyed the food and hopefully it will satisfy my naughtier food cravings for a while to come. I could try to justify it by saying that a refeed will help perk up my metabolism - but in all honesty the food was there and I ate it without holding back. At least I did my long walk in the morning and in addition my friend and I went out walking her dog for an hour and a half in the afternoon. I will not count it as exercise for the challenge - but it was really nice to go walking all around her village.

Trevor

Nice to see you again here. As you can see we had another hectic day.

Rae

It will be great when we accept that we are the size that we are now.

Kimberly

We always enjoy going to Newcastle and seeing our friends. We were so rushed we could not see everyone - but it was great seeing the people that we slotted in. Graham - that we saw on Saturday - is arguably my oldest friend. We grew up in houses next door to each other and our mothers were the closest of friends. We literally remember building towers with our wooden blocks together as very small children. In so many ways it is like we are related.

Janice

Your photos are amazing. You look so slim - no wonder that you are so near to goal.

Take care
