That's if we can even find you in the picture. I'm sure I'll be kicked off the challenge before you do, YOUR BUSTING butt in the weight loss, just amazing to me, I need to up my workouts and maybe spend 3 hours a night instead of two, what else is left. LOL LOL

GREAT JOB!!

Hi Margaret!
Just thought I'd drop in to let you know that I FINALLY BROKE THRU MY PLATEAU! Thanks so much for all the encouragement you've given me. I do hope that I will resume losing steadily now.

Cheers
Janice

Nice job in the challenge this week! I saw that you came in 2nd on your team. And you were worried..lol. I think this week's fiber bonus will be very easy for you. :biggrinjester:

I am pleased to see that Rod is still walking with you. That is fantastic that he walked 10,000 steps! :hurray:

Have a fabulous weekend!

I am pleased that the moisturising seems to be working nicely for you - it certainly helps skin feel soft and nice. As far as the stretchmarks go - I think that the creaming helps to prevent new ones from forming as you shrink and helps the existing ones become less noticeable. I believe that the old ones never completely go away - just get less noticeable.

Hiya

Face is def feeling soft and i have noticed my rosie cheeks are calming down sightly i think its the toner but YAY

Yeah the cream will help with the elasticity of the skin so when shrinking the skin will go back to how it was well thats the theory anyway, the stretch marks on my belly are not too bad now so im hoping they will really fade just 1 place they are noticible and to be honest i dont mind and they wont be seeing daylight anyway LOL

Your doing great on your walks i have noticed i feel better after the walks i go on with the dog and they are only 40mins so i can totally understand why they are such a big part of your weight loss
As for limiting the number of hours exercised in the challenge your mad you did it, you earned it, you tell everyone, the newbies will say wow and read why you do so much and see how well it works and they will be used to it as well

Have a good weekend
Im off to visit my niece and then go for my aunties 60th birthday meal

Angel

I am convinced that walking would be great for you. You have a treadmill - you lucky girl. Janice (abbagirl) gets on the treadmill when certain tv programs are on and watches them from the treadmill. She gets loads of walking done that way in what is like invisible time. It is a shame that you dont like baked beans because basically a tin of baked beans, a pear and some weetabix or an apple and you are sorted.

thanx Margaret. i try to get as much walkin in as i can but with all the work i have to do and at times don't do lol i just keep putting it off. i have decided to walk from 6-7 during the week (straight after school). that way i have all the evening to get some work done.
i love the treadmill but theres no tv in that room so i usually get through a bit of music...i might start taking my laptop in and watch an episode of friends or something....hmmm.
i think i got my fibre sorted now..thanx for all the help!!

2nd in your team!!!! keep up the good work!

Thank you for visiting. I always appreciate your visits and words of support.

Kim

I am far from invisible and still have quite a big tummy. You do amazingly to exercise for two hours. I do devote quite a lot of hours to exercise - but the fact is that I do not go out to work. When I was working I wasnt doing any exercise at all. I find the hours that you spend at the gym more impressive than what I do. The fact is that I do it because I know that if I did less I wouldnt get any weight loss at all.

Janice

I couldnt be more delighted that you have got through your plateau. As soon as I saw your message I popped over to your diary to congratulate you. You are so near your goal weight - you will be there in no time.

Kimberly

I was surprised that as many people slipped up with the junk food and exercise. I thought that just about everyone would get the max points there. I have already secured max exercise points for week 2. I did 4 hours Friday and have done today's long walk at time of writing.

The fibre should be no problem. I did a google search and found a website and one of their top tips was to eat weetabix or shreddies. As you know - I eat both very regularly. Between that and the "points for eating raisins" concept - I thought - this should be ok.

Hubby is now saying that his knee is playing up because he walked too far yesterday. Sometimes you cannot win!

Sarah

I am all for helping my skin as much as possible. That is why I take some vitamins. I understand that starflower oil, omega 3 fish oils and zinc all help the skin. Like you - I doubt that my stretchmarks will be seeing daylight either. I have no aspirations to wear a bikini.

It is great that you feel good after walking the dog. That for me determines the best form of exercise for you - something that makes you feel good.

I did put down enough exercise in the challenge to secure the maximum exercise points. I certainly was not reticent to my own detriment.

Take care

Hi Angel

You just left a message while I was replying to others.

Watching a DVD on the laptop may be a good idea when you are on the treadmill. We are seriously considering getting a treadmill - if only we can sort out where to put one.

If I did find space for a treadmill - I would certainly have a television near it linked to a DVD player so that I could plough my way through DVDs that I record.

I am sure that if you get into the habit of hitting the treadmill for an hour each night it will seriously benefit your weight loss project.

Although I was 2nd in my team - I would have been 7th in your team with my score. Surprisingly, quite a lot of people dropped points in my team by not doing all their exercise or by eating junk food (or both!).

Take care

hey a treadmill would be great expecially on those cold days when there is a high chance you may fall ill.

sometimes i realy find watching tv a waste of time...i've cut sown a lot but it seems if you are excercising its not so much a waste of time...its 2 things at once. shame i can't record dvds...otherwise could watch the daily soaps while excercising...i'll find something or other to watch though lol!

I am sure that if you get into the habit of hitting the treadmill for an hour each night it will seriously benefit your weight loss project.

i have tried to hit the treadmill for a max of 30mins...i just get bored so i do a mix of things as you can see from my excercise lol...its 5 mins here 10 here max. but i am thinking of walking out in the evening with my cousin for an hour a day if i can...that should reaallyy help.

Although I was 2nd in my team - I would have been 7th in your team with my score. Surprisingly, quite a lot of people dropped points in my team by not doing all their exercise or by eating junk food (or both!).

yeh it was a tough challenge...especially after the hols i think alot of people lost all that water and excess holiday weight whereas you have been really good through the holidays so you didn't gain any...this week should tell who is in what place without all them excess weight loss points.

Hi Angel

Well I certainly like my soaps - neighbours (bbc1 and ukgold) and home and away. It would be a great double use of my time if I walked my way through them. The only negative is that it would mean getting rid of the spare bed and turning the spare bedroom into a keep fit room.

We really need to get rid of quite a lot of stuff. We still have too many things in boxes from when we moved house last. I have taken the attitude recently that anything to do with the house can remain undone.

We normally record tv onto a hard disk recorder - but you can record onto DVD with it and you can copy stuff from the hard disk onto DVD. There would be no problem with finding things on DVD for me to watch.

Maybe your family will get a hard disk recorder - they are very good. We liked ours so much that my parents (who are normally the last to adopt any technology) got one and love it.

I think that you walking with your cousin is a great idea. It will certainly help. It will work well while the weather is reasonable and your cousin remains motivated. If there is a negative change to the weather or your cousin has a motivation relapse your plans may be at risk.

I am pleased that Kimberly has started a parallel challenge for the people that are eliminated. Almost all of us will be eliminated before the end - and it is nice to think that it is not all over at that point.

Take care

yeh those are the onli soaps i watch. myt be a good idea to change he room for now. or just get a folding away treadmill and a sofabed. saves space and you get the best of both...

lol ive got that attitude with a lot of things at the mo. i want to concentrate on losing weight and geting my degree and then i will look into everything else. need to priorotise. but then again if you get that done you might find space for a treadmill.

that does sound good! never heard of it...i'm slow with technology. i will look into that. mum loves anything to do with dvds so shudnt b too hard to persuade her. dad myt b a problem hehe...

yeh i'm loking forward to it. i had the same concerns. but shes got hols for weeks now after her exams and shes always been on at me to walk with her so i don't think she'll lose motivation quickly...the weather is going to be a problem but on those days hellooooo treadmill lol!

I am pleased that Kimberly has started a parallel challenge for the people that are eliminated. Almost all of us will be eliminated before the end - and it is nice to think that it is not all over at that point.

same same i do think i am going to struggle with excercise now that i'm back into teaching... so i myt b eliminated sooner rather than later and i reaaly want to carry on with the challenge...it is keeping me on track.

have a good day

Hi Angel

I am sure that you would love a hard disk recorder. We got panasonic ones and they are brilliant. They are just so easy to set things up to record and easy to store the programs until you watch them. Things that we want long term we copy over to the computer via DVD and keep on a computer hard disk. Then it is portable, (an external hard disk about the size of a video tape holds a couple of hundred hours of tv programs) able to be watched on any computer and it has freed up the space on the hard disk recorder.

It doesnt matter if your Dad isnt convinced. Just make sure that your Mam sees the benefits and I am sure that she will be able to convince your Dad.

It is great that the challenge is keeping you on track. I doubt that you will be eliminated too soon. We all will probably be eliminated eventually. Just make sure that you get your exercise and fibre points and hope for some weight loss. Your team is very strong and there are people currently below you - both these factors stand in your favour.

It is great that your cousin is really keen to go walking. It is always nice to have company.

Take care

A treadmill would be nice for you on days when the weather's bad. They do take up a huge amount of space, though.

Sorry to hear hubby's knee is hurting. I hope it gets better soon and he joins you on your walks again. :)

This fiber bonus should be a breeze for you!

Hi Kimberly

I would love a treadmill for some of the time. There are a lot of practical things to consider. My priorities are such that I am not finding the time to make space to shoe-horn one into this small house. The benefits are obvious - there will always be days when the weather is less than inviting and my hubby gets put off walking outside easier than me. I think that he would be more inclined to walk if we had a treadmill. Also I love the concept of the double use of time watching tv. We would need a heavy duty one to take his weight and when you consider that and his weight on top of it - there is a slight concern as to whether the floorboards in the bedrooms could take it. He has mentioned that we should consult a structural engineer - so it is certainly being seriously considered.

My parents have a much larger house than we have (Edwardian) and we are seriously considering moving into it after their day. It would be much more civilised to live in a house with three large living rooms compared to a house with one medium sized living room. You start having to consider "after their day" when your parents get elderly. If we lived in a big house there would not be problems of how to fit things in.

Fingers crossed about his knee. He is talking about possibly going for a walk later which all sounds good.

I must admit that the fibre bonus is so easy it is silly for me. I fed my age (48), height (5ft3), small-boned and the fact that I do quite a lot of exercise into that website and it said that if I was of normal weight I should be getting 22g fibre. I would have great difficulty having no more than 25g fibre - I would be complaining about messing about with my food. The only thing really that I am having differently is that on reading the bits about fibre I realised how good pears were and I do like them and fancied eating some. I therefore bought some even though I had quickly realised that I didnt need to alter my diet at all.

Take care

No rain for the walks. We both had our hair cut – unfortunately I doubt that an ounce of weight came off in hair! Weighing out all my veg to calculate fibre was a pain – but I weighed mine all out raw and cooked my veg in a separate pan. I discovered counting calories a long time ago that everything gets cold if I try and weigh mine when I dish up and I do so much veg the only practical solution is to cook it all together.

General Data:

Morning walk = 6.3 miles
Round the block = 6 times
Extra exercises = none
Weight = 12st 0.0lbs (i.e. 168.0 pounds)
Steps = 28,168
Distance = 10.89 miles
Remembered to take normal vitamin / supplements
Continued my creaming regime – missed one bio-oil massage.

My Food / Drink:

For challenge need to have 25g fibre each day

39.1g eaten

1 banana 3g fibre
3 weetabix, sweetener, 350 ml skimmed milk 5.7g fibre
1 large handful honey Shreddies 2.8g fibre
1 small pear 3.1g fibre
1 large handful honey Shreddies 2.8g fibre
1/4 handful honey Shreddies 0.5g fibre
roast chicken breast, 120g carrots 3.56g fibre, 75g swede 1.43g fibre, 70g onion 0.96g fibre, 105g celery 1.66g fibre, 230g cauliflower 5.75g fibre, 65g broccoli 1.70g fibre, 90g brussels sprouts 3.38g fibre, gravy = 18.44g fibre
1 large handfuls of raisins 2.8g fibre
2 litres of cold water
some diet cola

Milestone!

Well - today (Sunday 13th January) I got weighed (on empty, after my walk) and my weight was
11 stone 13.0 pounds.
This is the first time I have gone under 12 stone.

I am rather pleased about it.

:party::party::party:

Congratulations, the progress you have made thus far Margaret has been nothing short of amazing.

I hope I can achieve half as much as you.

i am looking into that hard disk recorder. looiking for a bargain lol!

Thank you Geovicsha. I am convinced that just about anyone can achieve what I have (and probably much more) given determined effort.

There are others on this forum who have achieved more than me.

I have many failed attempts to my name.

I must admit that I am currently rather pleased with myself though!

Thanks Angel and Tyly

I have hovered over it for the past two weeks. It is so nice to get across another milestone.
