Omega's journey

Hi Stacy

I just got your card this afternoon. I posted mine to you straight away - as soon as we exchanged addresses. You know how I am always out walking - so things like that dont get delayed. Since they both arrived today - it looks like it just takes that long to do the journey - either direction.

Thanks for the card. I really like all the little stickers that were on the envelope. They are so sweet.

I hope that you are having a great Tuesday. I am busy trying to get my walks done and I have to tidy the house as surveyors are coming tomorrow to sort out whether we should allow the people next door to extend into their roof space. We need to know whether it will cause problems to our house where they join up.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Hi Tammy

Thanks for popping by. It's a really busy time of year for us all Tammy. On top of that we keep getting tempted with things that we love to eat and try not to eat. If you eat you feel guilty and if you dont eat you feel deprived. Not fair! You must be extra busy with your four kids. Wonderful! I just know that they will make your Christmas extra special - whatever else is going on.

Take care

Wow! Stacy if your card made to England with a 41 cent stamp I'm amazed. I believe the current int'l airmail rate is $1...lol.

Margaret, sorry to hear your hubby's knee is acting up. I hope it feels better soon.

I see the scale has gone down again. :hurray::hurray:

You are doing fantastic as usual. :)

Howdy Margaret!
Sorry to hear that hubby's knee is acting up again. My dh had issues with his knee this past summer and ended up having physical therapy done on it. Seems that one of his muscles/ligaments is shorter than the other and causes him to slightly turn it out when he is walking. Which for the most part is not a problem, but when he has a miss-step it twists wrong and then it hurts like the dickens.
Of course it also doesn't help that dh weighs more than 300lbs.
I hope that you guys get off on your trip okay and that hubby's knee doesn't interfere to much with the festivities.
Chow!

Hey miss wonderful!
Just dropping by real quick since I have about 15 minutes. Looks like your losing that weight again, man your just a power house! I'm so proud of you! I need to start running marathons or I'll never keep up with you.

Hope the honey starts feeling better soon. I've missed everyone so much! I'll try and get back by before the end of the week.
Hugs!

Thanks everyone for visiting me and giving me such wonderful support. My weight wiggles - thankfully generally in a downward trend - but I always go up a bit after I go down. Wednesday higher than Tuesday - but no matter - simply par for the course.

My poor hubby (355 pounds when we last checked) has been troubled with gout since he was in his twenties. It is hereditary and he was much slimmer when he first got it. At first it got to his toes - then as the years passed it affected other joints too. Also walking awkwardly during attacks has caused weakness in his legs. Sometimes we manage to pin-point a trigger food and sometimes not. Duck was the first trigger food. We once had duck in a restaurant - and the poor lad was crippled before the end of the main course. I got all sorts of pitying looks as we left the restaurant as everyone thought that he had drunk himself legless! It was particularly unfair as he was drinking water and I was drinking wine that night. Needless to say - he hasnt touched duck since.

It is just something that we have to accept. I know that he will only know if he is up to driving 300 miles when that time comes.

In the meantime I have to plan on setting off in the morning (packing etc) and not setting off in the morning (what we will eat if at home etc).

I am sorry that your hubby gets problems with his legs too Bellaryna.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Oh Margaret,

My husband has just found out last week he has gout too. Remember the night out with old friends at the restaurant? Well, he could hardly walk by the end of the evening - perfectly fine going in, but his whole foot swells to double the size of his other. He has been on anti-inflammatories, and will need to be on medication for the rest of his life. He is not overweight and his father has it too.

It is a serious illness, and we too are investigating triggers, so my thoughts are with your husband. It is a very debilitating disease.

Best wishes,
Frankie

Hi Frankie

I am sorry to hear that your hubby gets this too! It really isnt fair. So many people have the impression that it is something that old middle-aged to old old men get that like too much port. I couldnt believe it when my hubby first got it in his twenties - I dont think my husband has drank port in his life. He doesnt drink alcohol.

You know exactly what it is like. Their foot hurts so much that you just want them to sit and get better and you run around after them.

My hubby doesnt like the idea of daily medication for life (alopurinol) - so when he was prescribed it he didnt take it. I wished that he would take it as he would get less attacks. He prefers to try and identify all his trigger foods and avoid. It means that as his body developes new trigger foods he gets another attack and we then have to guess what caused the problem. He has naproxin (anti inflamatory) to take to bring things back to normal.

Fortunately my hubby is a lot better today so we did the journey. It is bitterly cold and dark out now so today (Thursday) will be the first day in ages that I havent been out for a walk.

Take care

I just got a pedometer also. I just adopted an Australian shepherd so i need to walk him like 12 miles a week. This helps me keep track AND I'm on my way to a healthier body. Win win situation.

Glad you're hubby's feeling better and you were able to make the trip north. I hope you enjoy your time there. What was the temp?

Walk when you can, and don't worry about it when you can't. you'll get right back on track when you come home. :)

Thanks for visiting my diary.

You will love your pedometer. It will challenge you to walk further. I am sure that in no time you will both be thinking of walking 12 miles as what you do on a quiet week. I am sure that you will have lots of lovely long walks together.

Kimberly

I have no idea of the temperature here - but it is noticeably colder than at home. It wont be as cold as you have been having - but it is cold and positioned on top of effectively a hill so there will be a definite wind chill factor. On top of that my parents home is old fashioned (Edwardian and not what you would call modernised) - so no central heating or double glazing. It is just turned midnight here and so on Thursday I only did 5830 steps 2.2 miles. Higher than the UK national average - but the lowest that I have done on a day in a very long time. Hopefully I will get out for a walk in the morning.

Take care
