Omega's journey

Hi Kimberly

I am sorry that you havent seen those germs off yet. Since I know that you will be doing all the good things - hopefully they will be gone really soon.

I am pleased that your weight is going down. Weight fluctuations are fun - but I would rather know about them than not know. I really could not cope with not weighing myself every day. You said somewhere that you were in a challenge once where that was needed - I really could not do that. I need to know. Generally I look at the trend. I am fairly happy if my weight is less than it was about 10 days ago. If not I get a bit twitchy about it.

Accents are a funny thing. My husband experienced quite a culture shock when we first met. He had never been more than about 60 miles away from west London.

As a couple we got serious quite quickly - he proposed after we had known each other 6 weeks.

He quickly wanted to meet my family and offered to drive me home to Newcastle for a weekend. He was so funny. After we had gone 100 miles he kept saying "are we nearly there" about every 10 miles. He kept thinking that he must be about to turn off the motorway.

Some of my cousins had a much stronger geordie accent than I ever had. He met them and had a conversation (and naturally was trying to impress the whole family) - and I could tell that he couldnt understand a word that was being said, but was just using general purpose filler words as he did not want to say "please speak English". Anyway he had a whole conversation with one of my younger cousins about what pop music she really liked and as teenagers do she went to great length to tell him. At the end he asked what she thought of one group, and we all laughed. She had just spent ages telling him about how much she loved them.

My cousins have grown up now and their accents have softened - but his ear is more attuned.

I hope that you are feeling better soon.

Take care
Love
Margaret

I need to like salmon,they have major protien!!Have a gr8 weekend Tammy:grouphug:

Hi Tammy

Your too good a Mum - making these delicious things for your kids. It puts a lot of temptation into your way.

The thing with my weight is that it often wiggles up a bit too. It was a new low today - but tomorrow it could easily be higher.

The really wonderful thing about salmon is that I like it and nearly every time that I eat it my weight goes down.

I weigh myself every day and keep loads of records. Just about everything connected with whether my weight could go up or down.

Anyway 10 times out of the last 11 times I have had salmon - my weight has gone down the next morning. Maybe only by a little bit - but that is very impressive statistics.

Things like that make me want to have a salmon meal at least once a week.

I hope that you have a great weekend too

Take care

Hey Margaret,
The creaming regime is good ..
I cream my hands and my feet and have noticed I have beautiful hands and especially feet now ..
I am using a foot scrub starting tomorrow, but they look so good .. I am using a form of wax cream called "Royal Jelly"

Thats almost gone, but I bought another Wax cream from bath and body ...

its a good idea. You have soooooooooooooooo much insight... thanks :)

Should, do you think, I cream in other places. Like my arms... hmmm ...you know ..where my almost bat wings are .... and do my chest area ...because I have alot! of stretch marks in both areas and I plan to work on weights for my chest, when I use the bench I usually go down a bra size quickly .. more than my stomach ...so here in comes my chest and the stomach will be still sticking out .. I also noticed some stretch marks on my lower abdomen ..

what do you think?

sorry ... Just need some advice ..lol

love yas

Glad you are feeling some better. I am a little irritated by my own weight fluctuations these days. I have been chasing the same stupid pound round for nearly a month! Irritating, wot.

Glad you are doing so well, keep it up!

cheers

That is funny about your hubby trying to understand Geordie accents. :D I also find it interesting that he had travelled so little outside of London. What would he do in the U.S. where you can drive for 10hrs and still be in the same state? In Texas you could probably drive for a day and still be in Texas..lol.

Congrats on the new low! :hurray:

I'm sorry you had to walk in the rain today. I hope it had no ill effects on your germ status. :D

Thanks for visiting me and continuing to give me such a lot of support and encouragement.

I am pleased that you like the creaming regime. I certainly think that it is a good idea. We would all like our skins to remain in as good a condition as possible and we are asking a lot of it if we are hoping that it will shrink again as we lose the pounds.

We deserve to have lovely skin both at our current shape / size - and at the shape / size that we aspire towards.

I would certainly be creaming and massaging all the areas that concern you if I were you. All it costs is your time and the price of a little bit of cream. Most creams / oils are very similar so supermarket own brands will probably work pretty well. I actually think that the most important factor is the act of massaging.

I certainly have stretch marks (mainly acquired many years ago when I was on the way up) - thankfully they are clear coloured so not too obvious. I also certainly have some loose skin - but I think that it is not as much loose skin as I deserve to have at this stage of the project. Naturally with rolls of fat still to be dealt with there is plenty of scope for acquiring more loose skin as the project continues.

My daily creaming is as follows:
daytime moisturiser and vaseline lips
2 bio-oil 5 minute massages to abdomen - but I seem to be often just doing one of these most days
Massage thighs with body lotion. I rub body lotion using sweeping up and down movements 140 times up and down
Massage bum with body lotion - both hands one on each cheek - 70 times up and down
Massage upper arms with body lotion - 70 times up and down
Massage each breast with body lotion
Night-time moisturiser and vaseline lips

If you have dark stretch marks they can be turned into the clear ones that are not so obvious by laser treatment.

Since you mention feet:
I do not cream my feet every day - I tend to be in for the evening when I do.
I soak my feet in a bowl of warm water with soda crystals.
If there are hard skin areas I give them a little gentle scrape.
I cream with a foot repair cream
I then wear white socks for the rest of the day

People say that you cannot use exercise to target the areas that we would most like to reduce first. I am inclined to think that massage may be able to direct things a little.

I credit my moisturising with the fact that I lost my double chin while some people who are taller than me and weigh less than me are still complaining about theirs. I was very happy to see mine go.

Janice

I know that you will sort out that pound soon. I have put a note in your diary about the joy of plateaus.

Angel

7000 steps was good for you during a busy day.
No wonder you are tired. I think that you were up until 4 am working on that college assignment. And it wasnt the first time this week.

I know that I will be wasting my time and sounding incredibly old if I mention that these things could be scheduled into the day and allowing you to get a regular good night of sleep. I know that I didnt do that when I was your age - but it honestly would be a good idea. One of those dont do what I did but do what I say moments......

Kimberly

I was stunned that he had never been away from London. But you have to remember that in London you can drive all day and still be in London. Of course you may be going round in circles and the traffic may be jammed.:D

His mother had a very odd idea about the rest of the country. She actually asked me about a month before the wedding if there were shoe shops in Newcastle! I very nearly said "no - that is why we all walk around barefoot".

Some people have a love/hate relationship. I have always had a loath/hate relationship with my mother in law. When she was told that we had got engaged her comment to her son was "couldnt you find a nice girl instead".

Despite the rain - I think that my germs are still in retreat. I really swear by echinacea. I hope that your germs beat a hasty retreat soon.

Driving around in circles in London always reminds me of the movie National Lampoons European Vacation where Chevy Chase and his family are stuck in a roundabout in front of Buck Pal, and he keeps saying, "Look kids, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament." each time they go around. There is a bit of creative license there, though, as I do not believe one can see Big Ben/H of P from in front of Buck Pal. At least that is the way I remember it. Anyway, it is daytime the first time they go around, and dark by the scene's end, and they can't seem to maneuver the car out of the roundabout. Cracks me up. :D

Your MIL sounds like fun--NOT...:) When mine found out we were getting married she told me that if she had to do it all over again, she would've stayed single. I think this was her attempt to talk me out of it. She certainly didn't congratulate me, and asked me if I was sure I wanted to do it. I wasn't there when he broke the news to his parents, but I think his dad wasn't too thrilled either. I don't know if it was b/c I'm a Yank, or if they just thought their son could do better. Whatever. FIL is now dead, and I haven't seen MIL since before we were married. Works for me having her 1/2 way around the world. Although I will say that she's been pretty decent to me lately.

Hi Kimberly

Hubby is more than happy to drive around London - or at least he always was. He always claims that he would rather drive than use public transport. He is less keen now that there is a congestion charge (he thinks that it is robbery). Whenever friends want to meet up he tries to persuade them to head out of town now.

I am pleased that your MIL is being pretty decent to you.

The last time I saw my MIL she turned to my hubby and said "why did you have to bring her". She then tried to order me out of the house. Some visits are just always a joy. FIL died when hubby was a child but by all accounts he was a thoroughly good chap. I wish that I was half way round the world from my MIL. I keep pointing out the advantages of another summer in Greece to hubby - but he does not seem convinced. He is not the type to kiss an adequate job goodbye.

When we did summers in Greece he had been made redundant so he did not have that problem.

If my MIL treated me that terribly I wouldn't bother to visit her. I'd let hubby go alone. What does he say when she behaves like that? Does he stand up for you? There is no reason why you should have to put up with that kind of treatment.

Ugh. What a wench.

My husband's mom liked me okay, but his cousin looked right at me and said "You was supposed to be brown." Well, gee! Nice to meet you, too!

Hi Kimberly and Amber

You now know why I consider my MIL to be the wicked witch of the South.

Hubby did stand up for me and we did not stay long. I certainly do not plan on visiting her this Christmas. In fact for me, never would be too soon. The problem is that hubby gets no pleasure from his visits and likes me to go along (I think so that she doesnt spend the entire time being nasty to him).

She has always been absolutely horrible to everyone - and when we were younger we tried to keep our distance for the sake of sanity.

The problem is that she is 85 years old and has been totally housebound for the past 2 years. She is also the carer for hubby's disabled brother - and she cannot manage that at all any more. She refuses to let happen things that need to happen in that respect.

It all means that whenever anything goes wrong, a bill needs to be paid, anything including groceries need to be bought etc she knows to phone us. Every time I answer the phone to her she insults me. I have stopped picking up the phone if it is her. I tell hubby to. This week she has been telling him that she wants us (i.e. me) to sort out another query with her finances.

Amber - I am sorry that your hubby's brother took such a racist attitude against you.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Oh my gosh, that is terrible! I'm sorry she is horrible to you!

You definitely don't deserve that at all.

(And neither did you, Amber!)

Thanks for visiting my diary.

Tyly and Angel

All I can say about my MIL is that I knew that she would be a problem from day 1. It isnt like she was nice at first or anything.

Also we chose the person that we marry and the MIL turns up as a bit of an incidental add-on to the package. I would never suggest that anyone ditch a perfectly good potential hubby because the potential MIL was a nightmare.

All I can say is regarding groceries etc "thank God for Tesco home delivery and other forms of internet shopping".

Angel

I know that your time management excuses arent really great - I used to use them all when I was your age.

The thing is that our sleep patterns can get disrupted and it can be really tricky to get them back on track if things go wrong. Also, the fact is that you feel really rotten if you get really tired but for any reason cannot get to sleep. Stacy (Hickgurltx) is suffering from this at the minute. It makes life really tough for her.

No-one would dream of suggesting that you got to bed early every night - that is just plain silly. Just that you saved the majority of those late nights for things that you would really enjoy.

Hi Margaret
Well, you certainly have me beat with your MIL stories! Sorry to hear she is the cause of such unhappiness. My own MIL is just a very cold person. She refused to even hold our first baby when born (she said she was too young to be a grandmother). She is just cold, but not outrightly unkind. I spent the first 2 yrs of my marriage doing everything I could to find a chink in her armor, so to speak, but eventually decided I could not change her - and shouldn't try. So long as I am comfortable with who I am and how I behave towards her, I am free. However, if she were outrightly insulting to me, 'twould be a much harder cross to bear! :grouphug: She doesn't see what a gem she has in you as a DIL.

Sunny outside today, for the first time in a while. Perhaps I'll do the treadmill AND go for an outdoor walk.

cheers
janice

Hi Janice

My MIL is truly unique. Thank Goodness!!! The planet could not cope with another like her.

The worst stories I could never put on this forum. No-one would believe them...

I am pleased that it is sunny there. It is wet here. I got soaked both times when out walking.

It sounds like a good opportunity for you to get an outdoor walk. I hope that you enjoy it.

Take care

Margaret

Feel free to PM me your worst MIL stories if you want--I will believe them. :)

I'm sorry she is the "wicked witch of the South," but at least you have a good attitude about it--and have as little contact as possible with her. I think I would call her out and tell her to stop being an ungrateful, insulting bitch. :D

Sorry you got soaked again today while walking. :(
