No More Excuses, I'm going to do this!

Hey Munch,

My plan for pushups is simple..

Day 1: 5 pushups, wait 1 minute, 5 pushups, wait 1 minute 5 pushups

Day 2: same as day 1

Day 3: 6 pushups, wait 1 minute 6, etc

Day 4: 6, wait, 6, wait, 6

Day 5: 7, wait, 7, wait, 7

Keepup this rythm until you get to 10 or 20 at a time...then switch to 2 sets not 3...

Gotta go...I'll talk mare later!!

Good choices to ya!!

Sarah

OK, back again...so more on pushups...(like I'm the expert?! ha! ha!!)..so set up a simple spreadsheet in excel (you know I like tracking stuff like that!) and wrote out a goall number of pushups (reps x sets) for each day for 30 days and gave myself a goal to be able to do 25 good pushups in a month by working my way up. I found that if I could do 20 2 times in a row, then I could do 25 at one full shot starting fresh the next day...on the last day of the month, I just went for as many as I could do without doing the double rep. thing...and I was able to do 34...so I was happy! After the month build up, I switched over to doing only 1 set and building up gradually a week at a time, jumping by 5..so now I'm at 40...I'll eventually work my way up to 50, but that's enough for me!

Hope you can make some sense of that...if not, let me know and I'll try to do better!

Good choices to you and keep up the good work!

Wow, yes that is so helpful scbibhouse! You have no idea! I had started another program but it seemed like I would be crawling before I ever really started increasing the amount I was doing. I think I'll definitely give this a shot.

I'm still hanging tough with my plan of exercising. I'm not worrying about weight right now as I feel great in my body. My main goal is to attain the three standards so I can pass the pt test for a special squad at work. So far I can complete the one mile run in 10 mins and 38 seconds as well as complete the amount of sit ups needed. Just got to get those push ups down and I'll be set! Something kinda neat, the cutoff for the cadet program for the mile is 12 mins and to become a full member is only minutes, so I'm very close to being at the higher pt level. I'm going to keep pushing for that. Once I get my push ups down, which I think is somewhere around 33, I'll be set!

I apologize for not being on here as much as I had hoped. On the job training is crazy and with exercising after work I get pretty exhausted. I'll do my best to at least pop in once a week and update everyone! :)

AGlad to know I could help you Munch! Good luck on that PT test, and so happy you are happy in your body! You are beautiful !!

Take care and keep up the good work!!

Sarah

Always a big thank you to you scbibhouse! :)

A quick update on me. The new jobs are going well for both me and my husband. I have managed to maintain my weight at 156lbs with a little fluctuation here and there. Nothing to fret about. I have been keeping up with my exercise, however I did encounter a problem with the push ups. I have been having some pain in my right wrist for the last few weeks and had been trying to push through the pain. With my crazy schedule and trying to get in as a new patient at the doctor I want to start seeing, an appointment won't be happening anytime soon. I think it may be carpal tunnel, but that's just my guess. In the meantime I did a little research and read that it is actually better for your wrist if you do push ups on your knuckles. At the moment I'm doing what I call my own type of push up which means my right side is using the knuckle method and my other side is using the normal position. It's a little weird but it works! I also have a neoprene wrap that I use to help stabilize my wrist. So far so good. I've been able to do push ups this way with no pain in my wrist. Unfortunately it took me about a week before I began doing these modified push ups so I'm still only cranking out about 4 push ups per set. However, I plan to increase by one rep every other day.

Well it's time for a shower and a little R&R. Hope everyone's week is going great! :)

After being gone for two weeks (I actually thought it was a lot longer than that..) I'm back to report that the new job didn't work out. I'm not sad or discouraged about this as it was my choice to quit. Being a correctional officer just wasn't for me. Now I'm normally the type of person who just ups and quits a job without notice, but I absolutely had to get out of that place. I quit on Tuesday morning and by the grace of God was hired back by the security company I had worked for prior to taking the corrections job. There is a site in a nearby town and I'm also being considered for a supervisor opening. The pay is what I was making before for my current position, which is perfectly fine. I did decide that I'm going to go back to college and get my bachelors degree. I have my Associate's, but it's very clear that the things I want to do require a bachelors. I applied to the school where I want to go, which offers a distance program and am working on getting all the information I need in order to get the ball moving. As shocking as it is, I'm pretty excited about this. As excited as I was to be done with school in May, I'm now feeling the exact same thing about being able to go back. I do so well in school, too bad I can't do it for a living! ;)

So with a little bit of catch-up out of the way, I'll get down to the important stuff. I hopped on the scale today and weighed 152... 152!!!!!!! I hadn't been on the scale in a few weeks so that was a nice number to see. The last time I weighed myself I think it was 157 or 158? I'm not even sure. On the exercise front, this has been hit or miss. I really think it's going to get better now with my new job. I have been and will be walking a lot at work which is always helpful and is great for me.

I know I always say it, but I really want to get committed back to this site again like I used to be. Hopefully, with my new job, I can do that. The hours won't be as crazy and the work not as taxing so I really think I can do it. In fact, I think I figured out a really good way to make sure I post at least everyday! I'm going to make this site my internet homepage! I don't know why I never thought about that before, but it definitely should work.

I look forward to continuing my weight loss and fitness journey with everyone! :)

AGood to see you back Munch...and especially good job on maintaining and losing more weight! You must be making some great choices that are now just your lifestyle! Married life is agreeing with you!
Too bad the job didn't work out, but you will find your niche...I really think getting the 4 year degree is a good decision...opens up so many more doors! Another good choice!
Keep up the great work!

Sarah

Thanks scbibhouse!

I think I've just been eating less of the things I love and trying to get active when I can.

Going in to meet with the company I'll be stationed at today, so hope that goes well. I've seemed to have gotten a head cold which is no fun at all. Hoping it passes by quickly.

Just hopped on the scale this morning and I weighed 151!! I haven't seen this number in a very, very long time! I'm feeling so great and motivated that it's really hard to put into words, though I seemed to have managed!

My pants are baggy and right now I just have to deal with it since I haven't yet started my new job and funds are a little low, but I'm totally ok with that. Wearing my baggy jeans makes me realize what I've accomplished. It will be nice to get some new clothes in the future though, as to everyone who doesn't know me, just thinks I'm wearing clothes that don't fit me right. ;p

Hoping to go for a run later tonight. I'm going to visit IUPUI today for a tour and to visit with an admissions counselor. I'm really excited about going there and hope the financial aid will work out for the spring semester. If not, I'll probably be starting in the summer or fall semester.

Off to make lunch with my hubby, hope everyone has a good Monday! :)

Starting off the day well with french fried onion baked chicken. (Basically chicken coated in egg and dipped in Frenches french fried onions.) It was very tasty. I had two small pieces of the chicken and a small amount of mashed potatoes and a small bowl of chocolate chip ice cream for dessert.

Still haven't hear from my new job yet. Waiting to get the clear so I can start working. It's hard sitting around with nothing to do, so hopefully I hear something very soon.

It's a beautiful day outside today so I'm definitely going to get out for a run. Probably only about a mile. I need to start going every day and sticking to it. My motivation lacks and I get lazy. I'm glad that I'm losing weight without needing to exercise, but I NEED to exercise! I suppose a lot of people would love to have my dilemma, but I need to fix this. Perhaps I should do what scbibhouse has done and sign up for some type of race, that way I have something to look forward to and prepare for. We will see.

Way to go on 151! I would LOVE to see that on my scale. That chicken sounds great, I'm often looking for things to keep my daughter eating right (she's a senior in High School), that chicken sounds like something she would go for, plus a big protein boost. Great goals you have both educational and healthwise!!

Thanks K!

Yes, that chicken is delicious. I'm actually going to have some leftovers for dinner!

Today for lunch I had a small pork chop and a few small pieces of cornbread, as well as a small bowl of ice cream. Yummy!

Today has been a lazy day. I've had a headache since I woke up (slept in too late) and still haven't heard from my job. I've been praying I'll hear something soon. Prayers are appreciated!

hmmm, most headaches are caused by not enough water intake. Make sure you are drinking enough fluids :)

Went for a one mile walk today with my dog Eddie. It was beautiful out and I just couldn't resist. Of course food wasn't spectacular today. I had a chicken quesadilla from Taco Bell for lunch and for dinner two McChickens, small fry no salt, and a small chocolate shake. From the way I was feeling it could have easily been a lot worse. I was feeling really down and depressed.

But not too long ago my spirits were uplifted! I got a call from my area supervisor and was told my application finally cleared. I go in tomorrow to fill out some paperwork, get uniforms, and start training. Thank God! I prayed so hard these last few days and just couldn't be happier that God answered them and shined his great mercy upon me!

Hope everyone has a great Friday, let's bring on the weekend! :)

Yes, walking is great. My husband and I went for a walk with our dog tonight after dinner. It was nice.

And yes, I need to get back into that habit. It's much easier for me to drink lots of water when I'm at work, so that's another reason I'm looking forward to getting back to work.

I've got a little bit of training to do tomorrow and then I work 12 hours for training on Sunday. I'm excited to get started!

AHey Munch,
So good to see you are doing OK, and congratulations big time on 151! That's the stuff my dreams are made of! Congratulatiions also on the new job! Really happy for you! Sounds like life is treating you well, and you are making some great choices'

Keep up the great work!
Sarah

Thanks Scbibhouse! Things are indeed going well.

Plan to weigh in later today if I can remember.

Got my uniforms for work today so I'm getting them washed, ironed, and hemmed. Start my first official day of training tomorrow.

We plan on going for a walk later as usual. It's a beautiful day.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! :)

Yay for the weigh in!!!! Sorry your new job didn't work out how you wanted it, but SO lucky you got your old job back. Definitely makes life a lot easier for you!

Regarding your push ups, maybe search a youtube video on push ups to check your position. When you do a push up, your hands should be in the same position as when you do a bench press- if you're turning your hands or they're too high/ too low you'll be putting pressure on your wrists. Hope the pain as cleared up anyway!!
