Hello everyone. I am new here and I thought I'd introduce myself and tell you a little a bit me and invite you to join me on my journey to wellness. I am one of those girls who people say 'she'd be hot if she was thinner'. Well, I think I am hot right now. The reason I need to lose weight is for health reasons, not vanity (although it would be nice to fit into smaller, cooler clothes - they just don't make them nice for big girls).
A few week ago I started to feel really tired, thirsty and had to pee a lot. I also noticed that my hands and feet would tingle a lot. So I went to the doctor. She thought I might have diabetes. I got tested and it was found that I have prediabetes. So, I am now motivated to lose weight because they say you can avoide full blown diabetes by losing weight and eating right. I should also tell you that I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, a strong family history of diabetes, and i'm shaped like an apple (a cute apple that is). So I started taking blood pressure meds, cut most of the sugar out of my diet and have decreased my fats. I also now only drink water (occasionally I will have 1% milk). So in essence, I have been scared into weightloss.
I am 5 ft 2, with a medium frame. I will never be tiny like Nicole Richie. I have always been curvy, with a large chest. At the start of my journey I weighed 192. I now weigh 183.
I have also started exercising at my local rec centre and let me tell you, I just love it. I have a feeling I will be there almost everyday. I feel great when I am doing it and I know that this could prevent me from getting diabetes (along with the eating).
So welcome abroad and enjoy the ride, I know I will
