New Year, New Thread for Those who Weigh 200 lbs/90 Kg or More

Welcome two more newbies!!!


Lilhun88 you aren't takeing in enough calories, you probably wont loose untill you up your calories, which sounds weird...

I knew what my problem was for a long time, same as yours not hungery, and not eating enough... I allso knew it slowed down my metabolisum, and that my body was holding on to the fat for dear life thinking it's going threw a scarece food time period... But I didn't know what the solution was.

I read lots of threads around hear and studied some articles online. And suprise suprise you have to feed your body to loose weight, if you want it off for good. You can find out how much calories your body has to use to mantain your weight. My size body uses about 2,500 calories just to mantain it, and then you eat about 200 to 300 less, to start, of what it takes to mantain. And as you drop in size so will your calorie requirements.


I personaly am haveing a hard time meeting the 2,000 calories. Sure I could eat a few cookies to get me to where I need to be caloric wise, but yeah I think I'll pass. Eating healthy food to try to meet the bodies needs, is rediculouse! I am eating so dam much right now!

I don't want to be one of those calorie counting freeks, but right now, that's me :seeya: , I figure since this is new and I have no idea how many calories are in anything I gotta count them, untill I get this whole thing down.

I have an account at where I just put in what I had to eat and they tally everything up. It's free, it's not totaly user friendly but it's good enough. Exercise is obviously really important, and I just read all about hangy skin, ugg... So ummm yeah I'm going to take the weight training very seriously.

You are never ever suposed to go below 1200 a day or your body literaly thinks its starveing! I'm sure I never went below that, because even though I wasn't eating very much I drank soda all day.

This past week of joining I've been feeding my body and have lost 4 lbs.

Here is what I've been eating.

cup of oatmeal with half cup of strawberies on it and a whole bannana
2 cups of coffee

Slim fast, 2 hard boiled eggs, 1/2 cup cottage cheese with another bannana

1/2 cup of zuccini
1/2 cup of mashed potatoes
2 peices of fish

Jello fat free pudding

LOTS OF WATER....

I also read it's a BAD idea to cut fat out of your diet, it allso makes your body think it needs extra reserves of fat. But if you eat some foods with fat (like eggs) your body is like, ok we are going to get a steady supply of this stuff so we don't need to hang on to this extra. Obviously moderation, but I'm just saying fat is not a dirty word we need some in our diet.

It's so crazy that a body with so much extra on it could posibly think it's starving, but it makes total sence. Our bodies haven't changed in there make up since the cave men, and they didn't always have food reserves, lol. Fat saved them.

As you loose modify your caloric intake. Hope this helps...

Wow, just got on this site cause I'm really trying to loose weight the healthy way again. Thought maybe finding people with similar strugles and goals would help, but this is amazing. I am 163.2 or something today which is about ten pounds down. I just signed up for this site and never for a million years thought I would find other people out there who strugle with their weight and mia issues too, and are ready to talk about it. I strugled with mia quiet a bit in college and it's mostly under control now but I still fight it sometimes, which is what scares me so much about tackling the weight. Anyhoo... well, I'm glad I'm in good company and I know we can do this right with support. :)

Welcome aboard :grouphug: I've had mia issues up to a year ago, but I've been good ever since for the most part:leaving:...mainly because I developed some gastrointestinal problems...not even from mia if you can believe that!! I don't think there are any other people who have struggled with mia who are sticking around on this thread, and its understandable, I guess the tendency is to put it behind you and act like it never existed. But I'm always here if you want to talk :D and the people on this thread are super supportive as well. Sometimes it's still a struggle for me, and honestly the only thing that ever stops me is a recent food poisoning crisis I had and I had to be hospitalized. Food poisoning + gastointestinal problems = nightmare :p its the first time in my life I ever passed out. Anyways I do not mean to sound gloomy, just letting you know I know where you're coming from and you are not alone. I know that you can do this without mia, don't be afraid, you will succeed without it. I have confidence in you :grouphug: Again welcome :waving:

college student (graduate in spring and off to the 'real' world for me) theatre major with a bit of fine art back ground.
285ish (iffy scale) 5'2.5'' (Ill take that half )
no set goals except lose and make lifestyle changes
hobbies and work revolve around sitting, so that sucks. (knit/crochet... desk work)

Just joined april 2lb challenge. have no plan of attack yet...

Nataliejo I really wish I had your problem with the yogurt...yogurt is like my antithesis. I was on a lot of antibiotics and it killed all of my good bacteria so doc recommends yogurt to "restore healthy intestinal flora" :ack2: I cannot stand yogurt!! In any form!! And sooo many yogurt lovers have offered many variations, but it all tastes like rotten milk to me....well I guess it sort of is. So if there is anyone like me that needs to "restore healthy intestinal flora" but yogurt is your kryptonite, talk to your doctor about acidophillus pills, they rock!! Even though they are pills of living microorganisms :svengo: but good microorganisms that we all need :D Nataliejo, do you think your acne is because of oily skin or irritation?

I mean I just ate my breakfast... wich was the leftovers of yesterdays honey sauce chicken thing and 2 potatoes. One cup coffee, and a glass of juice and water. And im full. But I heard breafast should be "heavy" .
I agree that fat is not all that bad in moderation, but its just that I really cant eat much, dont know why really. I feel extremely sick if i eat more than some sort of breakfast, small lunch and a extremely small dinner, if any...
Maybe vegetables would go down better, since they are not that heavy...
I cant eat red meat at all since I get nausea from it, cause of the heavy feeling I get after eating it :ack2:

So all in all.. more food and more excercising it seems!

I posted you all that because I know exactly what you are going through. I am the same way and have been for many years, at least 7. I don't feel any hunger at all during the day. Which is a problem. I would go some days without food all day untill 4 pm and then I'm reminded I didn't eat when I started to feel light headed. Dinner was never a problem for me, I guess I could be called a binger? I would definatly have two portions of dinner.

But... I want to be healthy, loose weight, and feel good. So I am forcing myself to eat. I never took the not eating thing seriously enough, and I really hope I didn't do any permanint damage to my body. If you want to loose the weight, and keep it off, you have to make sure your getting enough in you. The normal recomended caloric intake is 2000 because that's how much the body needs to work properly. You can be creative... If you can't eat a lot at one sitting, eat 6 small meals a day.

It's not just the calories, it's where they are coming from.

Just wanted you to know, that there is someone else here with the same problem as you, and I really don't think it's that unushual.

but anyway...

I have lost one pound... back down to 275.0 ... maybe this is a good thing .. I made myself not go and eat last night downstairs ..kept remembering what could happen if I did ...
so ...better ..actions I took!

You might be not eating enough and whats happening is your stomach is becoming used to that amount, one problem with this ..you can turn anorexic if you continue .. I did this and I almost died to be honest ...and I dont want to say how ..but it was gross lemme tell you ..

but you need to take at leat 1200 calories in a day ... your stomach will get used to it .. mine had to ... mine couldnt eat at first .. I couldnt even eat one chip .. I was having a hard time ..it was slow progression

Good for you!! For getting on track and taking care of yourself. I am a binger. I try not to, but once in a while it happens, more so than not. But I didnt eat last night, which is good ...

I am taking back my life, from food really ..

ive calculated the calories today, and ive eaten 1000cals ! and its 8:42pm now... was thinking of eating an apple .. but I really am not hungry.


Nataliejo: My stomach has gone smaller.. I think... couple months back I used to eat like an horse... I think its good... in a strange way, that I just simply cant eat as much as I could. Im now trying to sort out the whole issue.. slowly but steady.

I really appreciate the support gals, so thank you:beating:

I've been trying not to think about my life, cause right now it's pritty depressing, but I had to send a friend an email, and well write about my life, and now I'm in a funk... :banghead:

Hey Lilhun... it takes time to get it right, I know, trust me!! lol but its good that you are on the right track, but you don't want your body to think you are starving it, because than you won't lose weight.. you will be stuck at your weight pretty much, one way to lose more weight, is eat more... you need to eat the intake of a normal person ... u know ... everyone has a different caloric intake ..on the second sticky thread I think it said how you can calculate how much you should eat ...but do progress your eating slowly ... u know ...dont suddenly eat a lot ..slowly bring your stomach to normal size inside ... and you will find your way ... no worries ... support is always here!!

Hey Hope!! Thats awesome hun! Keep it up!! I only pushed through a ten minute work out lol but tomorrow is another day ..another day to sweat it out and make my heart rate go up .. I was even jumping up and down trying to get it to raise and the damn heart rate wouldnt go up ..
any thoughts?

Try marching... Geting your knees the higher the better. Also maybe arms raised and pull them down as u do the marching. If you consintrate on pulling your knees up to your wast, then you will be using your abs too. If you do this for even a little while, your heart rate should rise and you should be getting a sweat in. Really consintrat, not just baby marches. :gnorsi: Well it's one of the things I'm doing..

Yay! I'm almost 205, i'm like an inch close! I went to the gym today and played alot of basketball haha. I lifted a little today too and talked to this woman who is way older than me haha.
