New here

Hi there, it looks like you're on the right track. But I agree with well, I forgot who said it LOL but yeah, try to stay away from pre-packaged stuff, it is really bad for you. I have been doing pretty good so far (lost 21 lbs) by eating fresh veggies and fruits, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, and lean meats. I used to eat alot of packaged foods and it's just not possible to lose weight with them. You could enjoy home-cooked foods alot more with half the calories and sugars and bad stuff... Just a suggestion. I wish you and your hubby the best of luck. Awwww you guys are too cute! :seeya:

Yea, we are doing a strict daily calorie limit, but we are trying to avoid junk food, which we have been doing really well for the past 2 and a half weeks. There are days when he's weak and wants to splurge and those have to be the days when I am strong and vice versa.

You can see it in his diary, but what we've done for the past 3 days is split up our daily calories evenly among 3 meals. So for me, I have 400 for breakfast, 400 for lunch and 400 for dinner. I have never felt more full during the day than the past 3 days! It's great, not sure why it's working for me, but just glad that it is! :coolgleamA:

I'm really proud of him! (and me, lol)

Thanks for the advice natasha!

Hello I just came across this forum. I hope I can fit it. I also have managed to gain about 78lbs in the last 10yrs, which puts me @ 226lbs. Which just makes me sick, all through high school I stayed around 150-155lbs I would love to get to that again. I'm 29yrs old I have no children, however I want to in the future. And I know how hard it is in the older you get, especially if your over weight. Does anyone have any advice for me.

best idea ever

For the past 3 days, I've been splitting up my daily calories (1200) evenly among 3 meals a day. I eat breakfast at about 6-6:30 am, lunch is usually at 11 am and dinner is around 5 pm. So far it's great! I've been feeling really full all day and haven't felt like snacking.

I've switched up breakfast. Now I have a bowl of cereal with skim milk and an english muffin with a little bit of peanut butter and honey on it.

I've lost about 6 pounds in the past 2 weeks, so I'm happy about that.

The true test of my willpower will be when I go to California for work training. Mr. Sickles and I were doing so well, for about 2 months and then I spent my first nights away from him in over 2 years. I traveled to Chico, CA with my boss for a week and I completely blew my diet the whole time I was there. And my husband, being lonely without me, heehee, blew his too while I was gone. It took awhile for me to get back on track when I came back. I guess I felt like I could splurge a little since I was out of town, but it got out of hand.

Anyways, now I have to go again october 6-10 and this time I plan to be amazed at my own willpower! lol I plan to come back even thinner for my hubby. :blush5:

So does anyone else find it hard to stick to their diet when on business or vacation out of town?

OMG yes! It's usually an absolute diet killer every time!!

Brought my daughter up to U-maine a few weeks ago and stayed in a hotel. It was the first time I ever actually used one of those fitness centers they have. You know, the ones you walk by on the way to the Jacuzzi :D

Finally did it

well, my husband and I have finally walked to work and back. We have been saying for about 2 weeks now that we will walk to work on monday and wednesday. Since we moved, it's only 2.5 miles. so we walked and it was nice! Not too far but still a good workout.

Good quality time with the hubby too! :hurray:

Was that 2.5 miles each way, or one way. Either one is a good piece of walking. Certainly won't hurt your efforts.

It was 2.5 miles one way, so 5 round trip, it was great, except like my husband said, my whole head is feeling it today from the traffic and pollution. We need to find a more pedestrian friendly route, with less cars...
