my weight loss diary! im a beginner!

ok so here we go... im a chocoholic... im on a mission.. and i need support!

im starting a weight loss diary because this will keep me motivated! =]
basically im 16 and weigh 154 pounds... i started my diet on january 27th and weighed my self for the first time in ages on friday january 29th .. last i remember i was 161 pounds! so i found i had lost 7 pounds :)

im using my lose it! app on my ipod to track my calories and what im eating... i have it set to lose 2 pound a week.. so my consumable calories for my weight age and height are 1160.. i rarely used to eat breakfast, am addicted to pepsi, ate choco everyday or crisps at skul, and love pizza and pepperoni!

i find it really hard at skul to not buy sweets or sausage rolls so ive started packing six unsalted rice cake for my lunch.. and instead of stayin near the canteen or vender i walk past them...my plan is to have breaky,lunch and dinner. FULL STOP ooohh and tea.. i love tea =]
im going to type in my last 4 days of food and their calorie content onto this so ye have and idea as to what i am eating.. :)
here we go ...

sunday january 31
2 toasted waffle no butter - 210 cals
1/2 tin of spagetti and 2 slices of toast- 290 cals
6 cups of tea- 192 cals
total= 692 cals underbudget 475.. btw i wasn awakw for too long that day so i wasn really hungry

monday february 1st
33gms weetos cereal and low fat milk... 172 calories
6 unsalted rice cakes... 156
homemade chicken curry with brown rice and 2 slices of bread- 662
3 cups of tea(2 sugars per cup)... - 100 calories
total= 1090 cals.. 70 cals under budget

tues february 2nd
1/2 a tin of spag with 2 slices of toast.. - 290 cals
goodfellas solo pizza(i treated myself) .. -405 cals
i slice of bread with 19grams of mozzarella - 142 cals
5 cups of tea- 160 cals
total- 997 cals.. 163 under budget

today february 3rd..so far
30grams weetos and low fat milk- 160 cals
6 unsalted rice cakes
1 homemade sweet chili chicken wrap(1 breast of chicken.. no veg)- 327 cals
5 cups of tea-160
p.s im adding 150 mls of lowfat milk from now on to my tea calories :)- 71 cals
100ml of pepsi- 42 cals
current total = 916cals 244 underbudget.. but dont worry ill be having more tea :)

wooh..that took time :)... will keep updates everyday hopefully

How tall are you? Your calories eaten seem a little on the low side and you need some more protein during the day. It seems like you're wasting a lot of calories on some things like bread/toast and rice cakes. Are you also incorporating some form of exercise to supplement the changes to your diet?

ya i know my calories are kind of low but its 1000 deducted from my BMR..which should lead to a lose of 2 pound a week
im still working out the kinks of my diet, but for now my main objective is to avoid choco and rice cakes sub in for choco =]
im going to start eating more protien...i love eggs so theyll help :)
for the first few days i ate no bread so ive been kinda bad lately, however im never really hungry and i dont go over my calories.. so i think im doing well ..
tbh im not really doin much exercise because my days are taken up with skul (7a.m. - 5a.m by the time i get home ) i relax for 2 hours then get started in homework..cycle at the weekends tho.
oo and im taking vitamin supplements to try keep healthy! :)
 
Hi :)

ive just had the most gorgeous dinner...made it myself..had half now ..will have half later ... for the whole thing its 1 chicken breast. 200 grams of cooked wholegrain rice and blue dragon thai sweet chili sauce... delicious! :drool5: its only 7.11p.m. so had to save some incase i get hungry :D

did no exercise today but ive been in school all day so thats kind of hard.. have work exp next week and plan on cycling everyday to it (hope i stick to that).. its 2 miles over and 2 miles back :D.. on very uphill roads..
going to start cycling on saturday and sunday to get used to it again:)

ok...heres what ive eaten so far.. this is including the rest of my dinner yet to be eaten!

thursday 4 feb
30 grams of weetoes and low fat milk.. 160 cals
4 organic rice cakes... 120 cals
thai sweet chili chicken and rice fried... 404 cals
tea :D .. 231 cals i will be having more tea so will prob be about 327 cals
small glass of pepsi..200ml... 84 cals
oh and i had a cola jely so bout 20 cals
TOTAL... 1116 cals... under 45 cals!

Yay you got your ticker working!

Have you tried giving unsweetened tea a try? 29% of your calories today are coming from that! Maybe you could try substituting it for something else so you'd be able to eat more during the day. :)

Glad to hear you're going to start cycling again. Stick with it!

ya im glad im gonna cycle again too.. i love cycling :D but im just lazy sometimes and i live in the mountains so it sometimes not all taht enjoyable :S

i have tried unsweetened tea.. and i cant drink it... it is nothing compared to my normal tea... im addicted to tea with two sugar.. i just love it :D .. but thanks for the advice...

I hear you. I just want winter to be over so I can get out on my bike again. A stationary recumbent bike isn't nearly as fun.

I went through a similar ordeal with soft drinks several years ago. I drink diet soft drinks off and on now. But initially giving up the sugary drinks was difficult. What I did at first was force myself to go back and forth between the soft drink and water. I wouldn't allow myself to drink another soft drink until I drank a glass of water. Maybe you could try alternating the sweetened tea with unsweetened tea or possibly that disgusting thing they call water! lol
 
okk so i am really upset cos i think my weighin scales werent working properly... i took a look at them der cos they went wonky.. reset them and unless i ate a lot today and put on 5 pounds they were broken :(

im gonna wait till im on someone elses scales to check my weight but still it very disapointing to think uve lost weight then discover u havent!!
will let ye no when ive found out my actual weight..

but on a brighter note..if this new weight is in fact my actual weight... ive still lost 2 pound

friday feb 5th
30gm coco pops nd milk - 175 cals
3 organic rice cakes -90 cals
1/2 a tin of spagetti and 2 toasted waffles - 330 cals
tea - 176 cals
250 ml pepsi - 98 cals

i had been so happy with my cals yester but... i went ahead and destroyed it all because i stayed at my mates! .. we made mars bar rice krispie buns and even tho i didn actually have much i feel terrible :(

i added it up to a total of 333calsfor them but i defo think im over compensating
.. i just dont want to be fooling myself into thinkin i had less than i actually did so its in my best interest to round it up to more than my quesstimate!

total - 1201 cals.. over by 8 cals:toetap05:... not bad since i ate choco :)

i think ill add todays entry later tonight cos its only 5.48 p.m now.. but id like to tell ya i went on a 4 1/2 - 5 mile walk/jog/run this morn to compensate for the choco :hat: !!
 
you are eating to little in calories, you should never eat less that 1200 cal unless under doctor supervision as eating below this level metabolic conservation kicks in and it become very dificult to get essential nutrients. your protein is also low and your diet seems very high in sugar.

you don't want to be loosing weight now then find you can't loose in the long term because your metabolism is fkd up.

you don have to cut out the pepsi but try to cut down on the number of day you drink it, try to ad more vegetables into your diet.

i know my calories are low.. and ill bump them up soon but just not yet.. its what my BMR minus 1000 is so i trying to stick to it

i actually plan on cutting out pepsi.. but i had bought a big bottle awhile ago and i keep pouring tiny glasses for myself :(... however once its all gone no more pepsi for me

i wud so love to be one of those ppl who eat veg.. but i just hate it.. :S im gonna try eating peas or sumat cos i kinda like them nd start eating fruit..i love fruit :)

i realy will try kick up my protien levels.. have stuff like eggs.. nd chicken.. i am addicted to chicken

i am EXTREMELY happy to report that we got a new weighing scales today!
this one is digital.. and my new weight is 155lb or 11st 1lb :) i am really pleases!!
that means ive lost 6 pounds! it also means my new calorie budget is 1,167cals! :O

anyway .. i was very happy with myself today.. stayed at my mates last nyt :S and we got up round 10 had breaky at 11 and at round half 12 we went on a mile walk/jog in da mountains.. not long after we went on a 3 1/2 - 4 mile walk/jog/run (ya we did all 3 ) in the mountains and forest :D and wasn home till about 4/5 o clock!

Saturaday 6th february
30gms coco pops w/milk - 175 cals
lunch- 1/2 chicken breast 125gms brown rice and some marinade - 242 cals
dinner- same as lunch - 243 cals
*4 cups of tea- 180 cals
100 ml pepsi - pepsi
and a treat :willy_nilly:, curly wurly - 115cals
*mid night snack:( - 1 waffle and 1/4 tin spag - 165
total - 1160 cals... :D

i am actually very proud of myself for taking a healthier aproach to weight loss!
btw ur weightloss looks to be goin well to :) we can be in the 6pound lost club lol
 
ugh exercise hurts... it better be worth it!

so after yesterday i woke up with some muscle pain ..which felt kinda gud cos it showed i pushed myself :D ...
but today after bein up for like 2 hours i went on gruelling walk/run (45 min) in the mountains... it was horrible..
it consisted of going up very high, extremly steep hills.. now my body is in bits...
i just wanna go pass out somewhere:svengo:... or eat but i dont have the energy to make food! :(..

never did really get round to cycling this week :( except i did go on a small cycle yesterday! :)

its 9.25p.m. now so dont think ill be eating anything else today.. so heres my food intake for the day

Sunday february 7th
weetos and low fat milk - 172 cals
toasted cheese and pepporoni sandwhich - 344 cals
1/2 a chicken breast, 90gms of brown rice and thai sweet chilli sauce - 201 cals
snacks= 4cups of tea, 150 ml pepsi and a banana - 355 cals
total = 1073 cals

please wish me luck tomor.. i have work exp and i want to stick under my cals.. bringin in chicken fried rice and rice cakes ( :( )

i packed up my chicken fried rice earlier into a lunch box and i swear to god it looked like nothing :(, however its the same amout as i have been eating so it mustn be too bad since it keeps me full :D

o BTW weighing myself again on 10/2/10 because im doing the luck of the irish challenge and im praying i will have lost weight!
 
Great job so far keep up the good work. I wish i had hills around me would make my walks so much better only time we have any good hill is in winter and have tons of snow piles everywhere lol..

so i had work experience today..which was kinda boring..i was pretty much stationary all day(office work).. :S .. 'cept for lifting a few heavy boxes..

woke up at 8.. started at 9 and lunch wasn until 1..which made me kinda hungry cos im not used to going so long without eating something small (or tea)...so for awhile b4 lunch i was dying for food... however when lunch came round and i went wit my m8 for my lunch hour i didn feel as hungry... i ate my packed lunch any way (thai sweet chilli chicken and brown rice yum yum) :cool:.. heated it up and scoffed it lol!

its kinda shocking to me how little was actually in it because it totally filled me! :O.. it was less than half a bowl... i guess my body is getting used to smaller portions :D yay!

mom made me chicken curry today so im currently stuffed to the brim with chicken and rice (150gms brown rice ckd, about half a chicken breast and sauce)

i feel like ive eatin to much because im so full, when in actual fact , i havent..

anyway when i went for lunch wit my m8 (he also doin work xp with me) i watched what he bought in the shop.. look at this list and be shocked lol...
1 muffin -371 cals
1 bag of doritos - about 200cals
2 chomp bars - 110cals each
a twirl bar - 230cals
one bottle of fanta lemon - 240 cals
half a packet of cream custard(?) - 375 cals
thats a total of - 1636 cals:eek2: << ... thats more than i have in a day! :(
o and did i mention he as thin as a rake:( he never gains a pick! he ate all that while i sat eating less than half a bowl of chicken and rice

anyway ...heres an update on my calories today.. mind you, its 7.14pm ryt now so there prob more tea on the menu :p

monday 8th of Feb
weetos and low fat milk -170 cals
thai..chicken/rice - 201cals
chicken curry and rice (with one slice of WHITE bread :leaving: <-- guilt) - 460 cals
tae milk etc so far -175 cals
edit: Curly wurly- 115 cals
total = 1,123

Tbh im not all that fond of the mountains.. i used to live in a big town and i miss being able to go on long cycles for recreation and not cycling 4 miles on hills that make ya wish ya were at home in bed lol

i find really good that you are taking care of your health at a young age, now is the time where you can get good healthy habbit going.

I am a bit worried about the fact that you don't includ alot of vegies in your meals. I used to be like that the only way to actually like vegies is to eat them. Try them in different way you can eat them raw with low fat dip or in a salad or steam or baked you can try different spices on them...You should give youself the goal of eating 1 portion of vegies a day and as u get used to it add two. Don't forget your proteines they give you a energy and your body needs those feed your muscles, you can get your proteines from nuts and legumes as well as meats!!
Keep up the good work you can do it!!!!
