My progress towards 176 Lbs

Day 38
Starting weight: 231 Lbs
Current weight: 205 Lbs
Target weight: 176 Lbs
Loss to date: 26 Lbs
Left to lose: 29 Lbs

Lost a total of 4Lbs in the past 7 days. You might think that's quite a lot but here is a list of workouts I have done this week:

Monday: 62 mins rowing machine
Tuesday: 3.27 mile run
Wed: 38 mins rowing machine
Thur: 12.5 mins rowing machine and 5.3 mile run
Friday: planned 12.5 mins rowing (100 cals) and 3.27 miles run

Closer to the landmark of 90Kg (currently at 92.8Kg)

I hate doubters. Someone said to me the other day when you start eating normally again you'll pile the weight back on again with interest. Truth is I am eating normally - if anything eating abnormally is what caused me to gain weight in the first place - that and doing zero activity.

Thank you for those kind words.

Saturday morning - 60 mins treadmill
Sunday - 4.1 mile run
Monday - stepped on the scales and had mysteriously gained 1 Lb. I ate pretty well all weekend and for the first weekend in 5-6 weeks no alcohol.

Hi Josh, just caught up with your diary. WOW! You are going great guns!! Well done! Just thought I would tell you that you have inspired me to get of my derriere & get on my exercise bike. I'll do 10km today. There is NO WAY I am ever going to be fat again, but I do have to work at it. It is SOOO worth it. You'll be able to get it off & keep it off I'm sure as you seem to have a great attitude & lots of determination. Cheers, Cate

Day 43

Milestones reached -
BMI now below 26
Now lost more than 50% of my intended weight loss

Thank you Cate that's wonderful.

For me that's what this forum is all about and why I love it. It's about drawing motivation and inspiration from others and giving a little help back to those who might need it. I feel great at the moment and it has only been 6 weeks! I have only crossed the half way line and for me the key things now are to keep going and to not get too impatient.

Thank you Clarissa - I always think you should have something to aim for and celebrate every week. Within the next week I'm looking forward to the following -

1. Dropping below 200 Lbs
2. Dropping below 100 Kilos
3. Running 6 miles

I set off on a run yesterday and ended up running 2.75 miles pretty comfortably in 1 direction and then turned back at that point hoping to set a new record of 5.5 miles but after about 4.3 miles I started to feel my left knee so walked back the remaining 1.2 miles :-( Still somewhere between 700-800 cals burned.

Day 44
Starting weight: 231 Lbs
Current weight: 202 Lbs
Target weight: 176 Lbs
Loss to date: 29 Lbs
Left to lose: 26 Lbs

No exercise the past 2 days but happy my weight has remained steady at 202 Lbs. Would like to have dipped down below 200 Lbs by the end of this week but hurt my knee out running on Wednesday. Will go out for a lunchtime run today for maybe 3 miles to see how it feels.

Hi Josh, Take care of that knee. The rowing machine would still be hard on your knees I would have thought. Can you swim instead?

The knee is fine I did 5.6 miles on it yesterday in 57:25 mins.

This was my longest run and I beat my previous average mile time by 25 seconds. Did a 4 mile run on Friday lunchtime which sandwiched a weekend at the seaside, a pizza BBQ and fish and chips on Saturday.

The net result, I have gained 1 Lb.

Ran from my in-laws' house to my own while my wife took the kids in the car and managed to shave 2 mins 56 secs off my previous time covering 3.4 miles.

Going to enter into a local 5K road race on the 25th July so going to practice running 3.1 miles for the next few weeks to try and reduce my time to around 25 mins. I am currently running about a 10 min mile. To put that time into some kind of context the race leaders will probably finish the run in under 15 mins.

Weighed myself and lost the extra pound I put on over the weekend so down to my new lowest of 91.5 Kilos (201.7 Lbs).

Day 50
Starting weight: 231 Lbs
Current weight: 201 Lbs
Target weight: 176 Lbs
Loss to date: 30 Lbs
Left to lose: 25 Lbs

I did a 5K (3.1 mile) road run yesterday and my finishing time was 30 min and 36 mins at an average pace of 9 min 51 secs per mile. To get that down to 25 mins in the next 3 weeks I am going to need to shave off 5 min 36 seconds and reduce my average mile time to 8 min 6 secs or less.

Weight loss has slowed down since I passed the half way mark.

Good for you Josh entering a 5km race! You have really turned your life around! Well done!! Cheers, Cate

I have been away for a few days - took the kids to Disneyland Paris. Back with an update tomorrow. I may have added a 1-2 Pounds but I did go on a 5 mile run on my first night at the hotel.

Day 56
Starting weight: 231 Lbs
Current weight: 203 Lbs**
Target weight: 176 Lbs
Loss to date: 30 Lbs
Left to lose: 27 Lbs

**I am up 2 Lbs on my lowest weight which was a week ago.

I have been on a long weekend holiday and had my daily routine of food and exercise disrupted. Got a busy weekend ahead next week so going to use Tues to Friday to get back into some kind of exercise rhythm. I completed 4 runs last week totaling 17..3 miles

Sun - 5.6 miles
Mon - 3.43 miles
Tues - 3.11 miles (5K)
Thur - 5.14 miles
