My Journey....to change

Hey PEC,

Yeah, I agree with Solty. Don't worry too much about it. Like you said, at least it didn't go up. And at least your writing down all your mistakes and your accomplishments so you can see know why your weight is doing what it is.

Thanks for stopping by you 2!! :seeya:

Yesterday was okay. I had the lazy breakfast of a half a banana and ~12 oz 1% milk w/ one scoop slimfast. My simple sandwich of 2oz of JennyO turkeyHam on wheat bread with a slight glaze of miracle whip light. then dinner i had two tacos (still trying to finish those up from when i made them last week) Had a couple friends over for tea and strawberry shortcake. Not the healthiest way to end the day but i'm fairly sure i stayed within my goal calories for the day. They bad part of the day is that i know i didn't drink enough water.

Since this is my diary i can write whatever. So i'm confused on here when people complain about not getting enough support and whatnot. I believe that i might get one comment back for every 5 that i put out there; so i think this forum and diary stuff is like anything else in life--you get out whatever effort you put in. If you want lots of feedback you need to be giving everyone else feedback and support.

My next question i posted on newbie area and i still haven't recieved an answer. How do you get "rep power"? I read the FAQ about reputation but am still confused. some people are on here 2 days and have thousands our rep power. I'm just confused.

Today i start my training for the 5k--i'm super excited. Plus this gives me a chance to workout with my best friend who has been somewhat distant the past couple months. (it's hard b/c she is going threw financial difficulties and i'm, luckily, looking to buy my first home in the next couple months)

On the top right of comment boxes there is a silver scale you can click on to give rep to a persons post. I just gave you some rep for yours :p.

Your day Looks like it went well. Water can be hard to drink so much of in a day. I try to drink 10+ glasses a day but sometimes it feels like I am having to sip on it all freaking day to get enough.. not to mention the added bathroom breaks from drinking a bucket of water lol.

Rep power is a strange combination of stuff. Basically if someone gives you rep it raises your reputation level here. Using the scale or th enote under the username for rep.

The thing is, if someone without a lot of rep reps you, it doesn't add up a lot. But if someone with a really high rep does it, it sends your rep through the roof. That's why someone who only has a few days might gain rep quickly, if someone with lots of rep hits them.

Hopefully that explains some of it? I will now hit you with the mighty rep stick of the cabbie...

Awe thanks for the reps you two!!

So I got some tips from another thread and i have really start focusing more. I need better quality calories and more. I'm just so lazy!!!

So my newest goal combined with my 5k training is to cook three times a week and then have the left overs from those meals during the other days and lunches. I also need to incorporate more protein and veggies in my diet so i'm going to get some yogurt that i can have for dessert or breakfast and make a point of having some sort of real veggie servings at both lunch and dinner.

Man this stuff is complicated!!!

Hey, just checking in to see how you're doing :)

Yes, in my opinion, the most difficult part of eating is to get the right balance of food. Can get very complicated, indeed! o_O

Looks like you're doing great on the whole exercise front though! Keep at it! We're all here if you need us :)

Ok so since i read how horribly i was eating yesterday i tried to make a point of eating more and better.

For lunch i ate my usually sandwich with 4oz of meat instead of 2oz. with that i had some of my leftover (gotta finish it up) pesto potato salad that is some red potatoes, red pepper, yellow pepper and pesto (that's it!) and a bunch of grapes.

Dinner I forgot to take something out of my freezer so i had two scrambled eggs with .5oz of cheese and some green pepper. Plus i had a bowl of green peas.

I then did a quick little resistance work on the elliptical trying to go hard and fast (i hope Karl doesn't read into that) for 15 minuets.

Then i ate far too many grapes before bedtime.

For breakfast i had a whole cup of oatmeal--stove top with 1cup water and 3/4 1%milk. with 1/2 C of frozen blueberries. (i really wanted to put some brown sugar on it but i resisted this time) and a full glass of water (i always forget to add how much water i drink)

Now i've just got to drink some more water before lunch. I'll put the rest of my day up this evening.

Really enjoyed reading your journal! DQ Blizzards were a favorite of mine too. Ive been steadily trying to replace the foods like that with alternatives. For Blizzards I make myself a smoothie instead! I enjoyed them so much I make myself one a day now :)

1 tray of ice cubes +
1/2 cup low fat vanilla yogurt +
1/2 cup skim milk +
1 banana +
1/2 cup of any other kind of fruit! (Pineapple is really good!)

Granted, they dont come in Skor flavor :( but they are sweet, cold and less painful than the blizzards!

Keep up the great work PEC! Look forward to reading your journal!

looking good Pec, keep it up!:hurray:
Thanks! :waving:

Oh man so food:

lunch was basically the same as yesterday but instead of grapes i had 15 carrots.

Dinner was huge!! well i felt like it, about 8oz (precooking) steak and a medley of frozen veggies.

Then i had my first 5k training run with the group (there are 8 of us). I'm a little disappointed to be honest. Overall it'll be really good for me and really push me, but it's advertised as a never really run before program. Well we ran 1 mile today. I was the last one in at 11:20!! I didn't want to be the last, i mean i know that since i'm used to running distance i'm going to have to change my habbit because normally i don't "like" running until between mile 2 and 3. I know i'm the only person over 200 in the group. It's fine, but still...i didn't expect to be last.

then i had some Endurance that they gave us in some water and a banana and now i'm just sippin on some water watching the Lakers lose!! (I hope-I recorded the game and am catching up right now)

guess that's all for now.

Thanks for stopping by and for the recipe. I used to make smoothies, but i made a REALLY horrible one about a month ago so i'm still giving them a break. haha...

Smoothies can be hit or miss sometimes. I make em every now and again if I'm trying to up my protein on a given day (because whey powder tastes like crap witout adding it into something to kill the flavor:puke:)

For the most part I like using yogurt, nonfat cottage cheese and one of those skim milks that have the added milk solids in them to raise the protein and make them seem more like higher fat milk (Hood Simply Smart, etc.)

Oatmeal is good stuff too, I swear by it (I kinda like the brown sugar too though :D).

Hi, PEC.

Just checking out your journal. Looks like some good stuff going on. I like that you are keeping a decent record of your eating.

Will continue to check in periodically.

:waving: Thanks for stopping by Cord!

So yesterday:

Breakfast: Lowfat yogurt, banana, & grapenuts

Lunch: (not good) bowl of veggie medley and some roman noodles (I just didn't have lots of time but i ddin't have any of the thing else. I am working this weekend on getting meals ready for the up coming week) I didn't have the sodium broth.

Then I went for a hike, not sure the mileage b/c it was my first time on the hike but it was for 1hr 15 minutes lots of elevation.

Dinner: mexican place with friends i had refried beans and a chicken enchilada. Water and then...."free" small icecream with some chocolate.

Then soaked in a natural hotsprings for 90 minutes (amazing!)

Then a later an apple with and ounce of cheese. (haven't switched to lowfat cheese...yet)

Today:
Banana

1.25 training run.

strawberries with homemade whipped cream. (after workout treat? i don't know but it's made my tummy hurt)

That's it so far. I'm not feeling healthy today so i just need to be aware and not go overboard too much.

Your doing really good with your food. Lots of good snack choices. Running... I wish I could run lol. I can stay on the elliptical for hours at a high lvl and maintain speed.. I can do the bike for hours.. but I cant run for more then 15 mins so far. Sadly thats an improvement over the 3 mins I could run 2 months ago :smilielol5:

Good luck with the training :D

Running is definitely different than time on the elliptical--but that's amazing to develop to 15 minutes!! Do you realize that's 5 times more than when you first started!!

___________

Yesterday I struggled but on a good note, some friends and i went to a movie and since i hadn't eaten anything after the strawberries i had half of a big turkey sandwich with provolone, lettuce and tomato (on a croissant) no dressing in my bag and ate it and drank water instead of soda and popcorn.

after the movie we went and had a drink at a bar. I had a double ginerale and vodka.

I had the rest of the sandwich for dinner. The sandwich had like 8oz of turkey so that's why i split it to two meals.

After dinner i decided to have a treat (big mistake) i think i had around 400 cal of twisler nibs...which i know is bad. However, i'm not going to beat myself up because i'm much more aware now than i ever was before. And i didn't have soda or popcorn at the movie and that was a big weakness for me before.

_______

Today:
Normal sunday breakfast place: 2 sourdough french toast and scrambled eggs. Fake sugar filled maple syrup, but used very little comparatively. 3 cups of black coffee.

If it stops raining/snowing i'll go work outside on my yard.

Have a 1.5 course i want to "run" this afternoon. If it doesn't clear up i'll go to the gym and do it on the treadmill.

Tomorrow is my Rest day.

I have to get some meals prepared now...

Don't forget to cheer for Orlando tonight if you're into NBA basketball.

Good job resisting movie food. Thats a hard one for me still.

I hadn't even thought of it as being 5 times more then I could do before.. Thanks!! That is a nice boost of confidence. I improved by a lot when I think of it correctly rather then compare to others :p

Today was weigh in day. No change...actually a little higher. It's so hard because i know i'm doing better than before. I'm working out more and eater healthier so it just pisses me off. Oh man stupid need for instant gratification. I'm just hoping maybe i'll lose another 5lbs in a lumpsum soon. (crossing fingers)

Today was rest day. I'm happy that i can just relax at home. I made some homemade guolash tonight with some spinach in it (probably too much spinach since it's kinda green).

Not excited for training tomorrow night. I'm still dealing with the idea of being the worst.

Looks like we did the same thing today haha. I also weighed in and was +8lbs.(no clue how lol). And I also made my Guolosh (I put it all in the fridge for later. It also has some spinach in it as well. I have enjoyed reading your diary and wanted to say it looks like you pretty well stay on top of things! Hope you continue doing so and will be dropping in more to see how your doing. Keep it up!

I had the same issue last week. I ate "ok" It was only slightly worse then a normal week, but I added 3 days of cardio hoping to get the weight moving again. OH.. it got moving.. UP. lol. I dunno what happened either.. just a weird week I guess.
