What a nightmare.
I was having severe pain last week in my side, it was so bad that I had a hard time walking around and even just sitting up. I thought maybe I’d pulled a muscle, but after a full day of being in a good deal of pain it just got worse. I tried to ignore it and went to bed, each movement caused more pain, to touch my stomach was out of the question and don’t even get me started on sneezing.
My husband insisted on taking my temperature, as I felt like I was freezing even though it was hot enough for him to want all of the windows open, walking around with just a pair of shorts on. Sure enough, fever, high one at that. He called one of the doctors that makes house visits even late at night and before I knew it we were off to the hospital with a “99% sure” from the doctor that it was appendicitis, and a bad case.
The surgery was a success, but the doctor told me—after the fact—that he was almost certain my appendix would rupture during surgery. Yikes.
Anyway, I’m home now and hopefully done with hospitals for a while. I’m completely drained right now, though, so I’m going to go to bed again.
