My Journey Continued: Fresh Slate For 2014!

Well done Mandy! I loved hearing that you quite liked what you saw in the mirror in your bathing suit. I have a new saying (in my head only) when I look in the mirror these days. Instead of seeing my imperfections I say "not bad for an old girl!" No-one is perfect. No-one! Only 5 weeks, only 5 weeks....how exciting for you! WEE HOO!!!!!!!
 
Thanks guys! Morning weight today was 196 even.

I got my morning workout in and then my mom and I braved the elements to go look for some snowy owls along our coast. We got lucky and found two of them, but it was SOOOOOOOOO ridiculously cold out there today so we didn't stay long. We're both looking forward to going back on a warmer day before they disappear. Beautiful owls!
 
I got the PM for the videos! Haven't had a chance to try them yet, but my day off is tomorrow, so I'm gonna see what I can do then.

Isn't it the best feeling ever, to put on something new like a bathing suit, and feeling/looking good? I can't wait to feel that again. I'm glad you're not beating yourself up over the scale.

Thanks guys, these owls are definitely beautiful. I wish it was warmer so we could've stayed longer. It was only 17° and it was VERY windy so with the wind chill factored in it was very cold. We stood out for about 5 minutes at a time and our faces, hands, and feet were going numb. On a warmer day we should have better luck. :)

OK, I'm declaring shenanigans on my scale!! I was in the 195's last week. Saturday was 196.6lb. Yesterday was 196lb. This morning 198lb. WHAT?? Something's not adding up. I ate pretty poorly over the weekend, but definitely no where near the tune of putting on 2lb.

Based on that, I have a few theories. One, I ate some fried food so it could be water retention from the sodium. Two, maybe I'm adding more muscle through the workout I'm doing since I'm using weights. Three, my TOM is right around the corner. Thought it would've already started by now, but it hasn't. So, it could be water retention from that as well. It's probably a combination of all of these things. We'll see how my measurements look on Wed. I know I didn't put fat back that I'm sure of.

I have realized that what I really need help on is eating better over the weekends. I sleep in which seems to throw things off. I usually get up around 9am, but then I don't eat until around noon or later. I need to do better there. Next weekend I'm going to make a better effort. A MUCH better effort.
 
Awesome owls and owl pics! Sorry about your scale. Maybe you're having sympathy gains for me? It will come back around for us both. My went down again yesterday, but still higher than it ought to be unless 324 was abnormally low before.
 
Ugh, TOM, I hear you. Not looking forward to the scale when that happens. I think we really do have to remember that it's the once a week loss that we have to pay attention to. Our body goes up and down all the time. I'm sure it's just retention, though, if you've been pretty good. It's so cruel sometimes lol. Better to stay optimistic though!
 
Those owls are gorgeous. Sometimes I see a great horned owl, but we don't have anything like a snowy owl where I live. So jealous.

I'm betting it's your time of the month. I usually gain a minimum of 5 lbs (usually more) around that time.
 
Q, I agree! It'll definitely come back down for both of us. It HAS to!

Loch, I know for sure I'm retaining water. I feel so bloated and have been drinking a lot of water, but haven't been "going" a lot. I can't wait for TOM to be over. Hasn't even started yet and I'm so over it! The only good thing is that because it's late this month maybe it'll be late next month and won't interfere with my vaca in March. We'll see.

Cory, I've only seen barred and snowy owls. We have a barred owl that visits our yard every now and then, but it's a pretty rare thing. I would love to see a great horned and a barn owl in the wild someday. I love owls, but I have to say their eyes kind of scare me. LOL

This morning's weight was up another pound again this morning Weighed in at 199 even. I know it's not fat so I'm not letting it bother me too much, but I have to say if I see 200 tomorrow, I think I might just blow a gasket. LOL

On a side note. If anyone is creative when it comes to surprising people with gifts I'd love some suggestions. I decided after our trip to the beach on Sunday that I was going to surprise my mom with a new DSLR camera. I got her the same one I'm using which is about 2x better than the one she's using. Her camera is much older and is only 10 megapixels, the new one is 18MP and she'll be able to shoot video with it too. It should be arriving Thursday and I'm planning on giving it to her that night. She's gonna think I'm crazy for spending so much money on it, but she deserves it! I just want to think of a creative way to give it to her. We do groceries on Thursday nights so I was thinking if it showed up in time I could put the box in one of our bags and let her unpack it. That's the best I can think of. LOL Any other ideas?
 
Hmm. What if you put it somewhere for her to find and took a picture of where the camera is, then gave her the picture?
 
That's a good idea Cory! I just don't know if I'll have the time to do that. Will try to figure it out though. :)

I'm a little frustrated this morning. I woke up with a sore lower back, but still pushed myself through the workout. I'm feeling ok, but may take a break tomorrow mattering on how I feel as the day progresses. I'm frustrated because not only has my weight been going up all week, but my measurements have not changed either. It's weird because my clothes feel looser so I don't understand how it's possible to be gaining and not losing inches, but my clothes are fitting better? Man, our bodies work in mysterious ways I guess!

This morning was 199.2lb. I'm also getting frustrated because my TOM has not started yet. It is late. No change I'm pregnant, it's just my body being stupid apparently. I want it to start to get it over with already. Grrr!!
 
I always like doing little present hunts! Put a bunch of clues around until it leads her to the camera! Just an idea! :)
And... I do plan on staying this time. Lol things have just been a little bit crazy since the holidays. I don't understand how you're not losing inches, but your clothes are fitting better? But you're right, our bodies are a mystery. Lol hopefully everything will catch up and the results will be there soon! As long as you feel good about what you see, that's all that matters! You're on the right track! :)
 
You are doing great Mandy! Don't let the scale get you down, or the measurements. That is quite odd but your clothes are fitting better so SOMETHING must be changing. And YAY for the bathing suit!! I am hoping I will finally be ready this summer to wear a bathing suit without a shirt/shorts/coverup of sorts.

Don't get too frustrated. It happens sometimes. It's easy to tell that you're doing the right things and making progress, even if the scale doesn't show it.
 
Thanks guys! I will be completely honest that this is REALLY beginning to frustrate and irritate the hell out of me. I know what's happening, at least I think I do, but my body seems to be stalling on letting it happen. I just want it to be over already! I am still working out and trying to eat well so I know I'm not really gaining weight/fat, at least I shouldn't be, but the scale is not cooperating at the moment.

I weighed in at 199 even again this morning. I did decide to skip my workout this morning. My lower back felt ok, but was still a little sore. I wanted to rest it. I might do a taebo session or maybe even the shred tonight after groceries. We'll have to see.

Have you been stressed at all? That can cause issues with the body. Maybe switch up the intensity of your workout with something light and easier, like a walk or yoga.

My TOM has been late last few months too, really frustrating. I used to be 26 days on the dot, not it's either 28 or 32. It could be due to any number of reasons, but suffice to say, it puts a damper on all things enjoyable haha. Hang in there, once it comes and goes you'll feel a lot better I reckon.
 
You have always been so awesome with your workouts! Seriously admirable. Those little plateaus can be so frustrating!!! But keep at it and eventually you will get through it! Hope your day has been great!
