my diary

I like Mrs. Bear's explanation too. But I guess there are all kinds of reasons that our bodies do what they do. But you are consistently losing weight so what you are doing is producing results. Well done!!!! :D

Mrs Bear's right. I read that somewhere. So that's why it's uber-important to guzzle water down while you're working out so your body doesn't feel depleted of water and will dehydrate.

As for the porridge-breakfast-hungry-at-lunch-thing... Well, I'm having breakfasts now... I've found that breakfasts help wake up my body. Start up your metabolism for the day. Maybe it's the same for you?

Water: 1 500ml bottle, 4 x 400ml glasses

Yesterday went OK food wise with a lot of fruit in there along with a relatively healthy pasta bake made from wholemeal pasta and half fat cheese. I confess I did actually have two helpings of this but the first plateful was also stuffed with salad so i reckon overall I only actually had a normal plate of pasta though I've just realised I've eaten a whole bag of TESCO salad over the space of 2 days, must remember and get more.

I thought Mrs Bears explaination was probably the most logical as well, thing is it's a bit hard to get in a lot of water when one is exercising (especially in the pool). I'll just need to try harder next time I guess!:)

I've checked my scales today and am now down to 146.5 this is what I weighed when I first started uni way back in 2002 so you can imagine I'm quite chuffed. I have about 11lbs to go before I reach my first goal and then I'll go from there and see if I want to loose any more.

I forgot to say I bought a beautiful new outfit on Wednesday and I'll maybe stick a few photos up of me wearing it later. It's very dressy navy blue trousers and top and although I've bought my usual size the trousers can be tied tighter and the top would look fine if it was a bit more loose. When I get to my goal weight I'll buy loads more clothes!:D

OK I've been a bit naughty today and not had any breakfast. I found I had to rush up the town as the bank shut at 12pm so I forgot my breakfast and due to it being hot outside I came back in famished and dying of thirst. I cooked a vegi burger on a brown roll for my lunch and drank 3 big 500ml glasses of water. Now I feel really bloaty! bleh!:(
It's really nice outside just now so I am going to go lie outside with my book, a nice glass of chilled diluted juice (in water obviously) and relax.

Way to go Crunchie, you are doing really great!! And I'd love to see a photo of that outfit. It is so nice buying clothes when you are feeling good about yourself. Doesn't it just make shopping a much more pleasant experience. :)

Well for my trouble I got a bit of sun burn when I was outside but I had a slight slip up tonight when dad brought in a big bag of crisps for watching the football. I had some of them though I stayed at about 1500 cals in total and I've drank so much water today I don't think it'll do me much harm.

Blast, crisps have resulted in pet 1/2 returning! Now up to 147 but hey it still means I've lost a whole stone which I'm very happy with. No dount the 1/2 will come off soon.

I er... intend to do quite a lot of exercise tomorrow, my friend is coming round in the morning em and I'll do a gym and swim after tea.

Don't forget, Crunchie, that salty crisps are going to make you retain water. That 1/2 lb will definitely disappear in a couple of days

defnitely. bear is right. i'm sure you are retaining ALL That water you said you drank the other day. keep drinking that water and it'll flush back out! reminds me to go to the same ! :D

Just a little math for the day....you have lost 54% of your goal!!! And you've also lost 8.7% of your original body weight. That's almost a tenth of your former self gone. Puts your accomplishments in perspective, doesn't it? So happy for you.

Hi crunchie, that is pretty fantastic, 54% of your goal. Keep drinking that water girl. It flushes all the fat away.:)

HOLY SMOKE! 54% of your goal! Thats great Crunchie! As for your "pet" 1/2 pound, it loves you but you can get tough on it ;) Hope you've had a great day!

Don't worry, Crunchie, you're still very disciplined and you're going to continue to be successful. Our weight fluctuates all the time, and for all kinds of reasons. I'll post in my own diary momentarily, but for a summary, I'll tell you I can yo-yo 5-6 pounds over a day or two pretty regularly. I'm all swollen up right now and am at least 5 pounds heavier than a few days ago, but I have to eat a lot of salt on the BIG hikes (Grand Canyon) because I don't want to dehydrate.

1/2 pound is probably water, it isn't the crisps since you kept it under 1500 calories. Don't stress, it'll go away very soon. Good work on the exercise! Keep it up!

I'm afraid I'm too tired to do much more in my diary tonight so just updating with last two days food. Didn't get chocolate spread after all but will get take away tomorrow seeing as how there's football on and I'm the only one home!

Ah-ha, I found your journal again! I was looking for it to post in, but for some reason my eyes just kept slipping over it...

Enjoy the football/soccer game, hope whichever team you're rooting for wins! Is it the Fifa games? I don't keep up, but I love the voice of the guy that does the commercials. I don't know exactly what accent it is, but it sounds great :p

I'm not surprised you are tired after all your 'exercise' ;) They say it does burn a lot of calories :D

You are doing a great job, Crunchie, and you've got less to do than you have already done, and every week that gap towards your goal will get smaller and smaller. Keep up the good work!!!

4/07/06

Breakfast: scrambled egg, 1 slice toasted brown bread
Lunch: ½ tin lentil soup. 1 crusty white roll
Tea: ½ deep fried pizza & chips, 1 white roll
Snacks: nectarine, chocolate biscuit, low fat packet of crisps
Supper: fruit juice
Exercise: 10 mile cycle
Fizzy juice: 2 x cans pepsi max
Water: 2 x 500ml bottle, 3 glasses
Fruit and veg portions: 4

I ate such a huge amount of rubbish today but as my parents were away I decided to invite a friend down to watch the football match with me. Before that I had cycled to work and had a decent breakfast and lunch though I couldnt get any brown rolls at the shop to go with the soup I brought.

Tonight however after having tea of possibly the downfall of my entire nation (deep fried pizza from the chip shop) along with a white bread roll I afterwards proceeded to have a chocolate biscuit and a low fat packet of crisps (friend brought full fat crisps so I put them in a plate for him and opened a packet of low fat ones for me.

I'm starting to wonder if perhaps I'm not taking in enough salt. I know there is salt in nearly everything but I remember my aunt telling me about when she played football...

My aunt is very fit but once decided she'd try lowering her intake of salt, she started experiencing muscle pain even after gentle exercise shortly afterwards. She started eating small amounts of salt again and the pains went away. It's occured to me that I haven't added salt to ANYTHING I've cooked and I don't eat ready meals so there's none going in that way. I've only eaten brown bread, had no chips (which require salt to taste good I reccon), not flavoured my food with salt AT ALL and also had much less salty crisps than I used to. This morning I woke up with sore shoulders chest and legs, mainly the muscles I used in swimming the night before so I'm wondering if there's a connection. I know a little salt must be good for you but I'm unsure what it does.
