my diary

I think it is hard to be motivated all of the time. I go through spurts. I will be super motivated for a month or two then it slowly starts to dwindle. I think it's just life. Knowing that you have to exercise and watch what you eat the reast of your life or you will gain the weight back can be somewhat overwhelming. At leat it is for me.

You are doing well. I am one who would never ride my bike to work. I would be all sweaty with flat wet hair. But right now I am in the worst shape of my life.

Keep up the good work. Oh and by the way when it's windy, riding a bike is not fun.....but I bet you burn twice the amount of calories.

Hello all, well part of my goal when I started this new lifestyle was not to give in to the "oh but I can't be bothered tonight I'll do something tommorrow" thoughts. I'd had the weekend off and left that was quite enough.

spellin: Thanks for the kind message though I'm not sure I'm deserving of being motivation.

Hypo Hippo: yes it is a big spider on my hand, one of my Chile Rose tarantulas.:D

hillbillylee: Yeah I guess that was the case yesterday, I haven't really been out on the bike at night this year yet so thought I'd give it a try.

jennifuffa: I do tend to get a bit sweaty but I try to wear light clothing and that helps along with tying my hair up. When I get to work I have to have a quick wash and change my T shirt but otherwise it's OK.

Anyway I managed to cycle to work today again but once again it was rather windy. It was my dads birthday this morning and mum is saying he might want a take away at night. I've told her I don't want any take away food and I'll just make my own stuff (hope she remembers). After tea I think we're going to the pub to watch a football game with my dad, I might get a fizzy drink but that'll be me (they need someone to drive).

So far I've only had a banana for brakfast but I wasn't feeling too hungry so am not too concerned. Will go to the bakers for lunch and maybe get an egg or chicken roll today.:)

I checked my scale this morning and it kindly told me I'm back into the 140's (albeit at 149.5). Hoping to get down to 147 by Sunday and that'll be me at my halfway point pretty much!

Oh well today has actually marked another milestone for me in that I've now been trying my best to eat healthily and be more active for a whole month which beats all my previous attempts hands down.

I counted up some of the worse foods I've had and it's come out like the following...

Crisps: 2 low fat packets, some full fat ones at a get together
Fizzy juice: 3 cans and two small glasses (all diet varities)
Take away food: 2 slices of pizza, one bag of pakora, 1 portion of prawn crackers.
Chocolate: none
Others: ! ice cream lolly, 1 small piece shortbread

Given that I was eating on average 2 bags of crisps a day before I'm really pleased that I've largely been able to give up these things.

So that's 11.5lb in my first month, not at all bad I'd say and I hope to continue the way I'm going but would be happy with loosing a healthy 2lb every week for the next month.:)

Looking outside it looks as though I should have cycled to work yesterday instead of today. It's bucketing down with rain!:(

Congratulations on making it into the 140s, 149.5 counts as the 140s, so be proud! You're doing great, and just so this doesn't come as a shock to you, as you lose more weight, it is extremely likely that the rate of loss will slow down. This is very normal, and healthy, albeit frustrating. 2 pounds a week is a fantastic rate of loss, but when you get closer to your goal your body is going to resist a litle more and slow that rate down. Don't worry, and don't give up. You'll still make progress, especially if you alter your routine to give your body a surprise. That helps for sure.

Anyway, I didn't want to dampen your already damp day, I just don't want you to be disappointed when your weight loss rate slows down a little. It happens to everyone, just ask anyone who is within 5-10% of their goal weight.

Wow, that's great! I thought this was one day at first. I was thinking, "Hmm, that's not really much of a diet" :D

11 pounds in one month is fantastic! You are doing so well. I'm doing a happy dance for you! You're keeping up with exercise and your attitude is amazing. Pat yourself on the back!

Went slightly off course last night and simply do not want to see the damage done by picking at bits of Chinese take away all night while lounging on the sofa watching football on the telly.

Anyway last night was a bit of a disaster but I refuse to completely disallow myself the foods I like but instead have done a good job of cutting down the seriously unhealthy foods I'd previously eaten every week.

I got so soaked coming home from work it was unreal. I also got utterly caked in mud and all my clothes are currently steeping in a big bucket.

Today has been OK eating wise mainly because the run up to my period means I feel too mince to eat much anyway. My friend took me out for lunch and knowing I'd feel ill if I ate too much I ordered a salad. I'm just preparing a vegi burger which I'm going to have on a brown roll with more salad before I go swimming as swimming usually helps me feel less cramped and bloated.

Oh crunchie, your eating doesn't look to bad to me! Your doing great and between your bike rides and swimming and time in the gym...your going to be just fine. I have to tell you I found myself not wanting to run yesterday and made myself laugh a little as I thought "What Would Crunchie Do?" And out the door I went AND actually shaved about 3 minutes off my usual pace!!!SO THANKS!!!!

Well, if you want to make this a lifetime change then I think cutting out foods you like is just silly. I love cheesecake and I refuse to give it up. I just don't see eating it anytime soon. You watch though, the time will come this Summer and I'll have a slice and go back to my diet. Besides, if you were watching the England-Sweden game that last Swedish goal was calling out for either binging or heavy drinking.

Sorry i haven't posted in a while. Well done on your first month you have been doing great and the weight you have lost is such an achievement. I hope you have many more sucessful months ahead of you and you reach your goal soon!!

Breakfast: none
Lunch: salad
Tea: chopped up vegi burger in wholemeal pita with salad
Snacks: tin lentil soup
Supper: pear
Exercise: swimming session (64 lengths)
Fizzy juice: 500ml bottle of diet irn bru
Water: 4 x 500ml bottle, 2 glasses
Fruit and veg portions: 4

Today has been so bad for food, as my period is coming on I tend to get cramps that make it difficult to eat much. I went out for lunch with a friend and asked for a starter salad but made into a main course. The biggest thing I've had to eat is the pita bread and vegi burger though I hope the soup was nourishing enough.

I really hope I feel better tommorrow, felt a big better after swimming but by that time it was a bit late to have much to eat.:( Forgot to have breakfast as I rushed out to atch my train this morning too.

On a better note my friend has said he might take me on a camping weekend in August.:D

Will catch up with other diaries tomorrow, right now need painkiller, electric blanket, hot water bottle and sleep.

I'm so sorry about those cramps Crunchie! Sleeping it off can't hurt, plus if you're asleep you're not eating something you shouldn't! That's my philosophy at least, although it doesn't look like you're having that problem. Have a good week!

What are you talking about? I think your food still looks really good! :D

By the way, I didn't see anything on the news about a solar eclipse! Lol!
