Found a gym called L.A Fitness close to where I live, only 5 miles or so. Going to ride my moped there tomorrow and maybe join. The good thing is I can a) ride my bicycyle there for my cardio
b) Get out of this stupid Wii Fit plan. It's hard and the strength training part I'm sure doesn't do anything, I can't even notice a difference. It's more of cardio-strength than pure strength training.

I gotta say I am psyched about going to the gym tomorrow, probably going to gym. Hopefully when I join up I can have a personal trainer make me a work out plan, I need to learn the machines too. But most of all I'm happy that I will get to see other people, meet other people, and hopefully make a new friend.

Today I'm back to 216. It keeps going up and down, ugh.
Well I joined L.A Fitness...its pretty damn awesome, I know kara has recommended buying a book to learn what workouts I should do but I just don't learn well from books at all, even books on other subjects. It has a hot tub, a pool, aerobic water classes, cycling classes, step classes, sauna, showers, lockers, free weight machines, regulra machines, cardio machines with TV's....just bloody awesome.

I see a personal trainer there tomorrow at 3 pm...to assess myself and create a workout plan. Honestly I'm nervous and I feel overwhelmed and worried. I don't know where to start. I used to work out at the gym before but I need an actual workout plan, shoulders one day, arms another, legs another, or something. I'm hoping the personal trainer can help me with that, but I don't know how to modify it once I get stronger.

Just completely overwhelmed, don't know where to start. I bought a backpack and lock for the locker, going to ride my bike there.

Went to the gym today, my first day. Saw a personal trainer for my 1st day. Did not go well. Basically when I signed up for the gym they said I would get a workout plan (like abs and shoulders one day, arms another, etc) that I could modify as I get stronger. Well, it didn't happen. I had to sign up for personal training to get it. Needless to say I was upset. We went back and talked to the guys there and I have to say they handled it very well and I will have a workout plan tomorrow (with weights).

Its a great gym and even if I didn't get a workout plan I was determined I would make one. I have a few friends I could talk to I would've probably used that and buy a book, either the one by Kip Thorrne (sp?) on dumbells or the one kara suggested. I still may buy the book once I get more money.

Long story short, its a great gym, I love it. They have cardio equipment with TV screens, but you have to tune into it on your radio to hear it. I did 56 ish minutes on 11 resistence on the cardio machine, the bicycle. I love the bicycle because I can do it sitting down and it doesn't hurt my leg. I put in my weight, and off I went. It was alot of resistence for me, and it said I burned 400 calories. Yes, 400 calories. I was sweating but wow I didn't realize I burned that much!

To kara cooks: Is it possible I burned this much? Are these machines accurate? I mean, running/walking for 30 minutes only burns 150! right?

I also rode my bicycle there and back. It's a good 3 miles each way. I rode 8 miles on the stationary bike. So in total I rode 14 miles! Wow...the trainer did a 15 minute workout with me too.

I was in the gym for about 4 hours. I really should've gone somewhere to eat, but I didn't. At 7:00 ish and I still hadn't eaten anything. Not good for the body I know. I suggested subway but we were all tired and went to Del Taco.

I picked out something that at least looked relatively healthy. It was these 2 little corn taco's called 'del carbon', like mexican style with shredded beef, onions, tomatoes and lots of hot sauce. I used the most hot sauce they had, that stuff is good. That wasn't bad, but we ordered chili fries. They didn't have any other alternatives like a salad...but I split the chili fry with my dad, I had about half. I also ate one taco.

Went to the gym today, rode my moped there. Did some upper body work, but had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to adjust the machines so they are ideal for me. I asked the people that work there (the trainers) a couple times but I'm not going to ask the trainers how to use all 35 machines obviously...it gets frusterating. The guy who wrote out the workout plan wasn't there today, but he will be back monday.

I also did some bicycle cardio for 30 minutes, burned 250 calories.

1747 Total calories for today

Sheesh! I had no idea beans had so many calories...big mistake there. 1000 calories for my first meal? Dang

Rode my bicycle to the gym and back, its 3 miles each way takes me about 15-20 minutes to get there one way. That was my only cardio...I don't think its enough so I'm going to do an hour on the stationary bike later today. I stayed at the gym like 3 hours, way too long, mainly because I didn't know how to use alot of the equipment. The trainers showed me how to use one of the machines I had a question about, but not the free-weights, even when i asked specifically. They did however tell me how to use it, just didn't actually show me when I was doing the weights.

one person told me he would have a trainer come help me...i waited 30 minutes. They said he was almost ready, then he went out to lunch, came back and began eating it. So I figured he just either didn't care enough to help me, what is more baffling is when he met apparently one of his friends, I was right next to the trainer and his friend, and the trainer didn't even acknowledge me or ask me if I needed help.

I had a protein post workout shake after the gym. Vanilla and raspberry...I also bought a protein mixer so I can mix it and don't have to keep buying their expensive drinks. It has like 50 grams of protein in it but 460 calories. So that was my dinner for the day..
