My Big Fat Journal

MP is right. I got my pictures back the other day and had some AWFUL shots - ones I don't plan to share with anyone. But there were some good ones, too, and only a day a part. Better hair, better lighting, better mood - you name it. Point is, you don't really look as bad as your worst before picture. If you want proof, just look at some crummy pictures of really beautiful people - we all take bad shots.

Fix yourself up and get someone to take a whole roll of film in a pretty park with good lighting (early morning or late afternoon are better light than mid-day). You'll surely get at least a couple of nice shots out of 24! You know your "after" pics are going to be even better, but there's no reason you shouldn't feel good about a couple of "before" shots, too!

Twinmom speaks the truth, one of my company's sibling companies does color correction work for a major lingerie company... You'd be kinda surprised at some of the before shots.. they aren't as perfect as we think they are :)

Hey Saucy Sister! I probably won't be posting my pictures anytime soon either. I'm gonna take some "updates" pretty soon just so I can have them to look at but I'm gonna wait until later to post them all at the same time that you guys can see the total progression at once! hehehehe! ;) It's not such a bad idea. Lol! I agree with MP. If you ask a guy, he isn't going to know what to say. He might be afraid to say yes you look better cause he'll be afraid you will say well did I look so bad before. And of course saying no is a bad idea! Lol!

I'm glad tomorrow is Friday too! Have a great day Saucy Sister! :D

I had kind of a small milestone today. I got a sandwich and made two meals out of it! Good thing too, cause it was pretty high in cals 640!

girl... I need to ask. What sandwich was it?!?
cause unless it was a fast food type sandwich like a burger or something, I can't imagine it having 640 calories.

good job on the splitting btw. :D

Dude, where the hell do sandwich companies put those extra calories? Just me, or a tad annoying...

Glad you've been able to confind in some friends at work about the situation. Hope it's able to be resolved.

Although people keep saying your husband is a biased person to ask, I think you should value his opinion. He sees you in a better light than anyone else, including you. But don't let his word run the whole thing. It has to be YOUR opinion as well (that's yours, yours and yours - damn I love playing with tags :D) If you feel, if you know that you feel different but Paul doesn't agree, go for it anyway. It's you that's losing weight, not him (well, he might be, I don't know)

Have a wonderful day! Keep up the good work!

That is a big step, I think that portion size is a thing that a lot of us struggle with. Its great that you are getting into good habits ;)

Hello all. I'm so glad today is Friday. I can't even tell you. My weigh in was successful. A little bit of a math issue this morning as I have not been keeping a running tally other than my ticker. I had to go back and look at previous post to figure out how much weight I had lost. On top of that add in the weighing twice a week with the FSD ad the challenge and I was all goofed up.

Then I got up so late I was delirious getting on the scale. At first glance I thought I didn't lose hardly anything from Monday, but then noticed I had a huge full cup of coffee in my hand (and I have a really big heavy coffee cup).

OK, I'll admit that 640 calorie sandwich was a Turkey Bacon Bravo from Panera. Stacked with quite a bit of smoked turkey, smoked gouda, lettuce, tomato and bacon. I had never had one. Before my Sisters beat me with a stick, it had very little bacon on it! The cheese was far worse, I am sure. I am not a big sandwich eater usually, but it sounded really good. I didn't get the special sauce on it, so it was really less than that. I emailed Panera to see how much of the calories listed in their website is the sauce. I haven't heard back yet. They are all probably laughing hysterically at me over at the Panera Home Office. Pretty Funny huh? Once I have a curiosity about something I will stop at nothing for the answer. I would be great in some sort of research position.

Scarlett, I have been working the Fly. Not religiously, but I have a back log of her emails that I am trying to incorporate into my schedule. I've been doing a few of the tasks. I like it. I plan to go through all my clothes this weekend. I have made a commitment to myself that other than sweats or other various workout clothes, I am never going to buy another pair of elastic waist pants again. All of mine are starting to get too big and will have to be replaced soon. I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and thought what the heck Old Granny Pants do I have on. It will take some work not to do it. It my size it is hard to find pants to fit. I am apple shaped with all my height in my legs so when they fit my gut, they are usually way to big in the ass and legs. Only certain styles will work, but I don't care. I'll try on 500 pairs if I have to. I'm done with them.

Your right Bron, Paul would be OK to ask. He's from the East Coast and most likely would be very up-front and straight forward in his answer. My experience with New Englanders is that they don't hold much back when it comes to opinion. I hope I am not offending anyone--it's just my experience. Go Patriots!!! :)

I think my head is slowing getting straight about food. Paul felt like pizza tonight. I told him to go ahead and get one, but that I would probably only have a piece or two. When he brought it home it smelled so good and looked even better. I looked at the gooey, golden cheese and thought about all the calories. I cut one piece in half and ate it. I don't even want anymore even though it was delicious. I'm going to have a salad in a bit. I think I can do this!

If you've ever watched the show- What Not To Wear - on TLC - they occcassionally get a little mean but one of their big tips is, especially for the makeovers that they do for people who have lost weight, is to never buy elastic waist anything.. One they don't look as tailored, but two it's harder to maintain your new waistline if its stretchy...

You can always find a tailor to have stuff taken in if need be :)

That sammich sounds amazing.. Panera seems to healthy and happy on the exterior.. but dang to thier sammiches pack a whallop... you wouldn't think a turkey sandwich would be that highin calories -b ut that cheese does add up i suppose :) we forgive you..

Hey Saucy Sister! :D

So sorry about making you have to weigh in on Monday and on Friday too! :( And then I'm doing it again next week so we can do a mid-challenge weigh in and then the week after that so we can do the final results! Oh, I just realized that I am such a bad person! :( I need to pop into the FSD and apologize.

Ok, onto you. That is so funny that you weighed with your huge coffee cup in your hand! Hey, gotta have that coffee! ;) Hope you are having a great day and have a great weekend! :D

Hi there pineola!

Good for you for kicking the elastic pants habit! I agree with what HH said from the show What Not To Wear, it sure makes over indulging easy with 'em!

Although, I have to say, my baggy clothes are making it easier for me not to eat too much - it seems like a constant reminder that I'm losing weight ;)

And WTG with the pizza!! Doesn't it feel good to take that kind of control? You wanted some, you had some and decided not to eat the rest - that is SO good! I've had ice cream in the fridge for two weeks (Bob doesn't know it's in there I think) ;) I just opened the container, took a teaspoon out of the drawer and took one bite - well two actually, the first one fell on the floor and the dog ate it - but I'm not counting that one. After the one bite, I put the container back in the freezer. I love being in control like you were with the pizza!!

Have a great weekend!

Wotcha Pinster!

Great going on the pizza! Only half a slice, that's fantastic! Way to go you on controlling food, it's a big step forward, dude! ;)

I'll bet it's great on getting rid of the stretchy pants. There's another big step for ya!

With the manwich, so long as you enjoyed it, then that's the key thing. Regret nothing in life, especially food when dieting. Dwelling on it won't help now, so just remind yourself that it was tasty-good and you loved every bite... but you may not do it again :p Heehee, hope the sauce people email back :D

Have a marvellous day!

Obviously, as a guy my proportions are very different, but I hate stretchy pants!! I have one pair of jeans that I refuse to wear because they make me look 30 pounds heavier. It's my pair with stretchy pants. I don't like them on women, I don't like them on me.

I could not, would not, on a boat
I will not, will not, with a goat. I
Will not wear them in the rain. I will
Not wear them on a train. Not in the
Dark! Not in a tree! Not in a car! You
Let me be! I do not like them in a box.
I do not like them with a fox. I will not
wear them in a house. I do not like them
with a mouse. I do not like them her or
There. I do not like them anywhere I do
Not like elastic pants!

Cannon!! I never thought about men's stretchy pants. Stretchy Pants are Bad!!! Let's throw them out!!! Thanks for the Seuss. I need a daily Seuss. It always makes me smile.

Hey Bron, I don't regret that sandwich. I made two 320 cal meals out of it. Throw in an apple and it is pretty good eating for only 400 cals. I was just thinking bacon is probably the not the best thing to be eating when you have your Sisters counting on you to make good choices. Believe me. I'll have that sammy again, but I'll only eat half at one meal.

Twin/M2M, yes it does feel great to be in such control over something that you had no control over ever in your life. I'm so happy. Twin--you're right. The pastries are to die for. I didn't even look at them. Have you tried their breakfast Soufflés? Oh, jiminy! Now there is one hunk of tastiness!

I planned to go to the gym today, but I had to take one of my doggies to the self serve dog wash. She is shedding her undercoat so bad that I just had to scrub and blow it all out of her. It is worth paying 15 bucks to not have to lean over the tub for an hour and then on top-of it have all that hair to clean up. I don't know what it is with her. About 4 times a year she just sheds this thick under-coat and you can brush her for 7 hours straight and it just keeps coming out. I'm back to late for the gym as it closes at 2pm on Saturdays. I thought of going for a walk, but it is 98 degrees out and it just sounds like a nightmare to do it.

Paul took off to a couple of antique flea markets. I told him to bring me back a lil sumptin-sumptin. I am kind of thinking about food a bit more today than I would like. I have not gone grocery shopping in awhile and I think it makes me panic a bit. I like to know where my next meal is coming from. I'll need to do that today too. I'm in the market for some good recipes for salad if anyone knows any. I'm kind of burnt out on all the bean salad type things. I'm pretty tired today too. It might be TOM's fault. That could also be why I am thinking about food all day. So far so good though. I had a spicy tuna burger (I think Mal's recipe--very yummy)for breakfast--no bun or anything and a yogurt. For lunch I had a smoothie and a little bean soup. I'm actually quite full. Maybe I'll take a little nappy in my hammock. I have been going to bed really late this week. Not getting enough to my liking. Take care all! I'm lovin ya!

Hey Pineola, it sounds like you are doing greeeat!!

I can relate to asking hubby to pick something up for you .... that is a habit that I have to fight to break. I am so used to him going to the shops, and me asking for something ... anything .... just to have something nice brought back as a treat. But of course if you do it everyday .... ITS NOT A TREAT!! (shouting at myself, not you :D )

Keep up the motivation, you are doing ace ;)

I had a roommate many moons ago who had a Husky as a pet... more than once a year this dog would "blow her coat" and I swear we should have gone into business knitting sweaters, blankets, stadium tarps out of the dog hair she'd leave .. everywhere... A self serve dog wash isa great idea...

Sounds like you're having a dandy day... good for ya... enjoy the rest of the weekend
