My Big Fat Journal

Hey Pineola! I think it's a great idea to take a before picture and an after picture. I'm sure the DvD's will be easy for you. Let us know how they turn out! It's great that you're joining the challenge.

I'm so excited about Monday's challenge. It's going to be so much fun!!!!
Hope you had a good Friday and I'll check in on you again over the weekend.

Thanks for stopping by everyone. I am really psyched about the challenge too and boy do I need it. Yesterday was half a mess. I'll say half because it was a beautiful day and I got in lots of exercise with a 2 hour canoe trip down a dam'd up creek. We saw so many great birds including blue herons and families of swans. There were tons of muskrats swimming around and we decided the moon was large enough to guide us so we stayed when it started to get dark and saw families of raccoons fishing along the banks. They are so cute when they wash their hands and faces in the water. How could anything so cute be so mean? They crack me up.

So we get back to shore and where we have to park the canoe is basically just a straight up embankment. No shore really so my friend is in the front and she has had a few beers (I on the other had stayed away from the alcohol, I'll tell you why later) and she is getting out and slipping and falling and cracking up. I am nervously laughing and about to pee my pants because I know the thing is going over before I get out of it. She tries to pull it up on some rocks to stabilize it, but it made it worse. I could barely stand up because I knew I was going to pee my pants and I couldn't stop laughing. I'm yelling at her to stop laughing and hold the canoe still. I finally get out and just run over to the weeds and pee. Now we are in her yard at this point and she does have neighbors--I didn't care. I was going to pee my pants or pee right there so I decided to just go do it. My friend doesn't know I am doing this and here she comes pulling the canoe out of the water up into the yard and there I am squatting. She starts cracking up again and tells me I am peeing in the spot the canoe goes! Oh, well...you got to do what you got to do.

So the part of the day that was the mess was my eating. I thought I was doing so good. I had a burrito from Qdoba which is supposedly fresh ingredients. You watch them make it so you know what is in it. In the past when I have eaten them I just added up all the ingredients to figure the calories. For example I would calculate 1/2 cup rice, 1/2 cup chicken, 1/2 cup black beans etc... Well when counting up my calories yesterday I realized I could probably just go to their website and find out exactly w/o having to estimate. I am so disappointed. That burrito had over 1000 calories. How can that be? What do they put in it that you would not put in it at home? There is no way if I made that same burrito at home it would be over 1000 calories. I'm bummed. Qdoba is my very favorite place to go at lunch if I eat out. This is why I didn’t drink any alcohol. I did however eat Doritos with my bean salad we ate after the canoe trip. I succumbed to the “I already ate a 1000 calorie burrito” rationalization. Luckily there were not that many left in the bag, so I didn’t eat that many.

So….today I have a ton of work to do outside which will keep me moving for a few hours and then I plan to go out in the canoe again or maybe play some tennis (which I have not done since high school)--I think I will do better exercising with some sort of sport or activity rather than focusing on DVD’s for weight training. I think I need to incorporate both to keep it interesting. That cardio DVD I did on Thursday really got my heart rate up, but I am such a klutz, I can’t really do all the moves without tripping over myself.

I’ll be back to check on diaries this evening. I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Hahaha, sounds like you had a fun evening, Pineola! And those raccoons sound so sweet! And canoeing is so good for you as well, you did well there.

It's mad how much ends up being in places like that. You wouldn't think a Subway sandwich could end up at 600kcals for 1/2 a sandwich! Just safer all round to make things like that at home. Cheaper as well. But it's just so quick and easy and tasty... Either way, you weren't to know how much goes in, it just means that, like every other good thing on the planet, we need to eat it in moderation. But well done for not having any beer though, good stuff!

Your right, variation does make exercise more exciting. Even if you just do things in a different place so you're not seeing the same four corners.

Have a fab day, enjoy the workouts!

Your canoe trip story is too funny! It sounds like you got in some good exercise! I know how depressing it is to look up the calorie information at places like Qdoba, Baja Fresh, etc.- but on the upside, you can check out those websites to find out what you can still enjoy without overdoing your calorie intake. For instance, the Naked Fajita Ranchero Burrito has 500 calories and the Grilled Veggie Naked Taco Salad only has 170 calories. We can still have our Mexican and enjoy it... but if you want to do it lower calorie, you have to give up the tortilla and the sour cream, etc. A tortilla at Qdoba has 330 calories in it... that's just the tortilla.

Anyway, I hope the rest of your weekend is great!

Tortillas are quite high in calories anyway. I checked the packets of some the other day; may as well have normal bread. The problem with spicy foods as well is that they trigger glands in places like thighs and bums. But dammit, it tastes sooooooo goooooooooooood :p

Hope you've had a great day :)

Canoeing is great exercise, and when something is fun like that, you don't even feel like you are working out!

It is surprising how much extra calories and fat seem to be in food when you eat out. It is as if they think it must taste better with more fat in it, but I don't think it does. My husband is off McDs now. He had one a few days ago and he said it was dripping in fat, and he felt really bloated after it. However, if he has a burger from a little snack van, it is so much nicer and less bloaty.

It doesn't sound like you did too badly, and I'm sure now you are back on track, that burrito won't make any difference at all ;)

Sounds like you had fun getting back to nature! Or is it 'au naturel'?

Val is right. Just think of all of the great choices you'll be able to make now that you know the real caloric values. You're doing great!

Hey there fellow teammate of the Saucy Sisterhood!!!

Your canoeing trip sounds amazing. Glad you had a great time. And I guess that burrito didn't do too much damage considering your starting weight for the challenge. All the rowing just burned it right off. Well done!!!

Looking forward to being on a team with you for the challenge. Let's go lose some weight!!!!

The canoe trips sounds like great fun and has been mentioned earlier, you're doing great based on your challenge weight.

Your canoe trip sounds like super fun!! I went white water rafting on my honeymoon and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!! Keep up the good work!

The canoe trip sounds really pretty! The story was funny too, Lol. Don't worry too much about the burrito. You did all that exercise earlier. I can't believe there's that many calories in it though... You barely had that much on it. Yeah, you definately should mix up your exercise routine to keep it interesting. I know what you mean about being clumsy though, Pilates confuse me sometimes. Lol.

Thanks for stopping by everyone. I feel bad that I have not gotten to everyone's diaries in the last couple of days, but I plan to.

I was very pleased that I lost weight since the FSD. It really gave me a positive attitude going into the challenge.

GO! SISTERS!

That canoe trip sounded fun. The pee incident reminded me of a couple of close calls that I've had. Laughing and having to pee don't mix. I totally lose all muscle control when I get laughing hard. Needless to say I've had to do the pee pee dance a time or two.

"I succumbed to the “I already ate a 1000 calorie burrito” rationalization. Luckily there were not that many left in the bag, so I didn’t eat that many. "

I know what you mean. I'm guilty of doing that too. Instead of adjusting what I eat for the rest of the day I make it worse. I figure hey why not I've already screwed up my calories for the day.

Tennis you say? I love tennis but I couldn't tell you when last I played? Probably highschool. I just don't think I would look as cute in the little skirt anymore. LOL kidding I've never worn one of those little skirts.

OMG! That is so funny! I thought I was going to pee my pants just reading this! ROFL! You are definitely one saucy sister! ;)

Grandpa (my dad) took my little boy outside to pee on the leaves last fall, because the bathroom was otherwise occupied. He thought this was such great fun that it took us a month to convince him that's really not what leaves were for! Well, like you said, "you got to do what you got to do." :D

Hello! Sounds like your doing great, and I haven't been on here in a while, but I'm looking forward to trackin your progress :)

Hey Pineola, just swinging by to wish you luck with the group challenge. I'm not taking part, so I'll dance around with pom-poms and make myself look incredibly foolish and embarress the lot of ya ;)

Have a fantastic day!

Hehehe the canoe trip sounds like great fun, wish I'd been there to see that lot going on. I do offer my sympathy to those that find themselves in the situation of needing to go for a widdle but can't stop laughing!

Hope you're having a good week lass! Good luck in the group challenge!
