Man - I love a string of green lights even when I'm driving!
lol

Where to you hike?

It’s great isn’t it. Technically I ran one red because I had time to stop before it changed but I didn’t and there was no one else around (very small intersection)

It’s not so much a hike as a hard walk but I do waterfall gully to mount lofty in Adelaide. It’s 3.8km one way. Doesn’t sound much but it’s very steep. Last week I got my personal best time up hill - 46 minutes but missed my downhill personal best. The first time I ever did it uphill took me 2.5 hours!

Wow! That's huge progress!!
Sounds like a really challenging hike!

That first time was a long time ago but still.

The hike itself isnt too challenging. Doing it at any speed is challenging though.

Well it was later than I’d intended but just got back from my morning ride. Time for a rest, breakfast, shower (I NEED IT) and off to mount lofty.

Oh and I copped another puncture last night. I rode through a section of roadwork and hit the sharpest pot hole on the planet. No puncture then but at about 11pm I heard it let go in my lounge room. The hole must have damaged the rim tape and a spoke damaged the tube. This time on the rear. Oh well easy fix. Luckily I had some rim tape and a spare tube so all good.

Well I didn’t go to lofty today. Checked the forecast and There was potential for rain. That trail gets very slippery in the rain sooo I did some long overdue housework instead.

Now that I’m all up to date with the housework again I went for a ride tonight. Nothing to write home about except a loud mouthed taxi driver who almost clipped me. I guess it’s the low socioeconomic area I live in that creates all these dramas.

I’ll probably head to mount lofty first thing in the morning instead of going for a ride.

I really don't think you should have to take your life in your hands every time you exercise!!
That's crazy!

I'm pretty sure horrid drivers are everywhere though :\

Well no lofty today either. Severe weather warning for the area so I had to stay away. I did however get a sneaky 9 hole round of golf in with my partner then after date night I snuck in a quick ride.

Relatively strong north westerly winds really slowed me down (took about 15km/h off me in parts but the flip side is the south easterly uphill sections were much easier! With 1km to go the heavens opened up and I got soaked though :(

I just realised I had a tiramisu tonight. This is the first cake I’ve had since September or October. I’ve also not had a chocolate bar (used to love mars bars) for months and months. I’ve had a square or two of dark chocolate, a couple of serves of ice cream and the odd protein bar but I’ve really never felt like cake or sweets.

A good ride tonight. I’m feeling very happy with it now. My knees have been a bit sore; I think because I’ve not had my feet positioned correctly in the pedals but I think I’ve sorted that out because they felt good all day today and on tonight’s ride.

It was windy again from the same direction as last night but not quite as strong. Still took about 10km/h off me in places but very enjoyable.

Although I’ve just noticed while writing this that I have ANOTHER puncture. The rear tyre is flat as a tack. It wasn’t when I got home but it is now 30 minutes later! This is incredibly frustrating!

Another puncture? Wow!
Yup.

These tyres are a very soft compound. On one hand they’re very grippy on fast corners and they actually are puncture (thorn) resistant but very susceptible to pinch flats when hitting pot holes. I assume that’s what keeps getting me.

I’m getting good at repairing punctures though! Removed the wheel, removed the tyre, removed the tube, located the puncture, repaired the puncture, replaced the tyre, replaced the tube, replaced the wheel, inflated the tyre all in 15 mins. It’s a skill I’d rather not be practicing though.

Ok enough is enough. I was almost hit AGAIN on a round about. This time at speed. The bloody idiot came screaming up from my left without looking (I was already on the roundabout and the law here is give way to the right anyway), saw me at the last second and slammed his brakes on. He then abused me and speeded away.

Soooo I’ve now ordered a GoPro. To film all these little issues and hand the footage to the police. I’m sick to death of morons putting my life in danger nearly every day. I get it; accidents happen and people make mistakes but this is getting absolutely ridiculous.

Rant over. Good ride tonight. Pretty good conditions. Very cold but not much wind.

Good strong ride tonight. No issues and pulled up really well afterwards.

I might take a break from here for a little while. I received some bad family news today and it’s really shaken me. I just don’t feel like continuing here for a while.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had bad news. Take good care of yourself TM. We'll be here if you want to come back :)

Thanks Cate and Trusylver,

It’s news I’ve been dreading for 2 Years now. My Father is ill and there’s nothing more the doctors can do.

It’s surreal writing that. A couple of months ago we were playing golf. Now we’re planning palliative care.

I fully understand, My mother is in the same situation, just started palliative care after a 4 year cancer fight with no more options left.

I'm very sorry to hear that :grouphug:
Thanks.
