Momma4alex’s adventures in surprising my man….

HI Heather!! I hope you don't mind me stopping by!! I have a 2 years old daughter and started my journey pretty much the same reasons: healthy for my daughter and any future children.

WOOHOOO!!!!!! I have lost 3.6 lbs in a week. I feel great and I can't believe it
Congratulations!!! Isn't it great to see the results of your hard work!!!

I looked at your fit-day calorie counters. I see you entered whole milk. Have you tried 1 % or 2% milk? It has more protein and a lot less fat it in. Although I know the taste is probably not the same. That way you can even fit more food into the 1800 cal. Just a thought :)

Now to just get rid of the fast food. I don't really know how to cook much so I am learning a whole new thing.

I am an internet junkie, so I use places like vegweb.com and such where you can search recepies based on their ingrediets. It helped me out numerous times when I had just a squash at home and pretty much nothing else.

good luck on your weight loss, you sound determined and just imagine a look on hubby's face!!:jump:

Yes, I have thought about going to 1 or 2 % but not sure if i can get that with my wic vochers as that's what i use to buy milk otherwise we wouldn't drink much of it. So i have to look into that. I am always looking for new recepies to try so I think I will look at the website you use and see what i can find.

Yes the look on my hubby's face and the health of myself for my son and future children is the main thing that keeps me so motivated to keep going besides the support I get on this forum. Its great.

If you want a buddy I am always looking for one. I am internet junkie too but starting to get more active so i can lose this weight.

Congrats on the weight loss Heather !!

I must say, I'm impressed with your determination :) It takes just this very thing to engage into a complete lifestyle change. I hope in the days, weeks and months ahead you keep this energy and concentration brimming within. The vision of a thinner you is a mighty power influence on keeping straight.

You're definitely off to a great start ;) Keep the streak alive !!

Another new update

woohoo I found a pair of my old jeans which are size 24's that I haven't been able to wear in about 2 years and I was able to get them on and zipped up they are a little tight on the waist but in a few weeks hopefully they will be looser on me. It felt great just being able to get them on. I am currently in size 26/28 jeans so hoping to get back into my 24's is my first small goal so hopefully by then end of august i will be able to where them comfortably.

well that's my update for now.

I didn't do to bad on my food today not sure on total cals though.

breakfast: 1/2 cup of fruit cherrios with 1/2 cup of whole milk

snack: 4 oz cup of peaches

Lunch: 6 inch chicken terriykai sub from subway

snack: quaker rice cake

Dinner 6 inch chicken terriykai sub

dessert: 1.5 white macadmia cookies
48 oz of water so far but still got a few hours before bed.
Exercise: upper body and abs not sure yet on the amount of sets or anything since i haven't done them yet.

3.6 lbs is great! Keep up the good work! I am sure keeping up with a three year old is pretty good exercise somedays, too.

Yes it is

Amber, Yes keeping up with a 3 year old is great exercise somedays especially when he's been cooped up in the house all week cause he was sick and couldn't go to daycare or anything so that he didn't get any other kids sick.

Those little victories keep spilling over into one big beautiful weight loss. When you're weak, remember that size 24 story and just refuse to cave in.

I've written a million words on here how I feel about being strong and striving forward without giving up but only the individual can really 'feel' it, like you just did. I swear, these moments capture people into reaching their goals - even in their most trying moments.

Stay strong girl, you're doing great !!

HI Heather!!
How are you doing today!! I second T2 Trucker, he really put it into words what we all feel seeing our accomplishments!!
Keep on going!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Hello, I am doing ok. Finally better but my tom showed up this morning so that really puts a damper on wanting to work out. I am still doing pretty good as far as eating but not sure what my calories are yet as i haven't put them into fitday yet today. I've made it all day so far without drinking a soda although i did grab one out of the fridge it just hasn't gotten opened.

How are you doing? Your both right I can do this and will as long as i have support like this.

Well todays a new day

Haha... Today's a New day. Well so far today sucks. I woke up to tom knocking on my door.. oh the lovely things us women have to deal with each month.. lol Anyways, my food was ok but not great. I skipped breakfast cause I lost track of time plus I wasn't hungry. I was too busy cleaning as we have family coming down from oregon. Anyways, I found some a great saying today that I got from a military support site.

Forget the risk & take the fall. If it's meant to be, then it's worth it all.

I truly believe this and think that it will be something of a motivation for me as I am trying to do this for a number of reasons.

Today's food: 7/24/07

Breakfast: none
Snack: 1.25 oz bag of mini oreos 160 cals 7g fat, 25g carbs, and 2g protein
Lunch 1 cup of terriyaki chicken and 1.5 cups of steamed rice
Dinner: 2 packages of instant oatmeal from the quakers weight management.
Snack: 1 quaker rice cake

Water: 48 oz and counting.
No sodas at all today
exercise: 40 min walking away the pounds dvd, crunches 150
Jump rope for 20 min. for cardio
[/B]

Jump rope for 20 min. for cardio

I'd die if I had to jump ropes for 20 min. You rock girl!!!

I was just looking over your food. I don't see any fruits mentioned .do you eat fruits? I think it is very important part of a balanced diet. Try to eat small amount of fruit with almost every meal. It could be half cup of blueberries or strawberries, or anything for that matter. Sometimes it is hard to get them fresh the next best is frozen. no canned fruits, those tend to be full of un-natural sugar because of the syrup.
The owner of my gym was talking to us about sodas the other day. She said she used to drink them until she could visualize the sugar content. Think about this : 1 teaspoon of sugar is about 4g, 1 soda (12 oz) has average of 40 g sugar. So 1 soda has an average of 10 Teaspoons of sugar!! It helped me to put things into perspective. :jump: She said to go home , fill a mug with 12 oz of fluid (juice, water) and start piling the sugar in there until you reach 10 teaspoons, but the time you do this, you won't want to look at soda's again!! of course you don't have to do this :) , just shared what I heard at the gym.
I know when TOM visits, it is hard to work out or get motivated for that matter. do you have so much bloating too? I gain like 4-5 lbs overnight (it is all water and I lose it after) but boy it messes with my motivation for sure!! Keep on going girl, I will be here cheering for you!!!
Ok, it is enough of me, you know cleaning is a good cardio exercise also!!! Of course I did NOT share that with my husband.:)

I wasn't able to finish doing the 20 minutes on the jump rope. I kept getting tangled in it and it woke my son up so that only lasted about 10 min if that. lol but thanks for the nice words. Yes i do eat fruits but I haven't made it to the store to get more and I ran out of fresh fruit so all we have is whats in the can they are 4oz cans of fruit in light syrup which i drain the syrup out before eating the fruit.

Not really bloating so much as it is the cramping that I have to deal with. I had a m/c last month so the last period I had was in may. So my body is getting back to normal. Its really the motivation to exercise when I'm cramping but I still did my exercises so I still felt good about that. :)

Ok so far today I am not doing too good on food but I have done a hour so far of cleaning and am going to do my exercises tonight maybe before my family gets here from oregon. I wanna make up for eating bad.. lol

Thanks Hajni for the support and encouragement you will never really know how much it means to me to have the support from people like you and my friends. Since most of my family doesn't know I am trying to lose weight nor can they really give me the same support as most of them live in oregon.

I am so sorry about your m/c. It is not only draining physically but it is a great emotional stress. Just know I think about you . I have been there.

Great job!!

ANytime!! I am glad you find support in my ramblings!!! Again, I have been there, I know how it is. I wish for you to succeed!! then you really have to post a picture of hubby with his jaw on the floor!!! :)

Thanks, Its not something that I personally would wish on anyone. I have had 3 total since I started trying to have kids. The first one I was only 17 though which i talked about in my first post on my diary. I figure it just wasn't meant to be at that time in our lives. At least now I am trying to get healthier so that when i do have a chance to get pregnant again I will be at a healthy weight.

Yes I will have to try to get a pic of hubby when he sees me but not sure how easy that will be as he doesn't like taking pics. I took some before pics of me but they aren't very good pictures I need to see if I can get some better pics or find some of my old pics of me at my heaviest weight.

The jump rope is a lot harder than it looks! It takes some practice and skill.

I'm very sorry about your m/c.

Great job getting exercise when your cramping... I can barely get out of bed when I am.

I just gave you a reputation thingy and I see you just gave me one too!! How funny, we are like in synch or something.

At least now I am trying to get healthier so that when i do have a chance to get pregnant again I will be at a healthy weight.
This is exactly my motivation!! I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2004 where I lost my right fallopian tube along with my precious baby. It was a big emotional blow and that is when I started piling on the lbs. So when I got pregnant with my daughter, I was already 20 lbs overweight. And then I gained so much more..
You are a strong woman, you picked yourself up and look at you going. You turned a sad thing into a positive motivation!!! That takes a lot of strenght!!.
Now I am totally convinced that you can do this!!

Yep, I think we are pretty in sync with each other on the whole rep thing and posting. I think that's pretty cool.

I'm Sorry about your loss too. I couldn't imagine what that's like losing a tube along with losing a precious baby at the same time. But you know your right we both are very strong women and we can do this. I was probably about 100lbs overweight with my son when I got pregnant with him. I weighed 220 when I got pregnant with him right after I had started working out and trying to lose weight is when i found out i was pregnant with him. my luck... although it was a nice surprise considering we had been trying since we got married in june 2002.
