Thinking of you! Hope you are going to be back soon! :D

Hey Girl Hope Your Doing Awsome Have A Safe And Happy 4th!!!!!

Yeah! Tina's back! I'm back too, coincidentally enough. But I was only out hiking. You see that ugly little number up top? I told you I would swell up. I can barely bend my fingers or turn my rings around! But that's good, at least it'll go away.

Thank you all SO MUCH for the kind words & support while I was out hiking. I'm still mildly depressed in a not-very-unhappy way. It's a weird feeling of discontentment, but not sadness. I think it's frustration with my weight. I read about a new book I want to get that helps you (supposedly) learn how to know how much you need to eat intuitively (since I've surely lost the ability to understand portions without counting calories. It's worth a try if you ask me.

The Grand Canyon IS the most beautiful place I've ever been, and that's why I go there every month and a half. While I'm still living so close to it, I want to go as much as I can. Do yourself a favor and hike IN. It's hard, but I've never been so overwhelmed by the beauty, tranquility and strength of nature as when I'm there.

As always, I ate too much, but as usual, I'll survive it. My big challenge now is for the next trip, which is 24 miles in 24 hours (and that includes the nap mid-day, so I'll be walking much faster than 1 mph!) It's a Canyon rim-to-rim hike, and it'll be hard, but rewarding. I need to speed up my running time so I can run the flat part at the bottom & shave off some time getting to the top.

Glad you had a good time. And if you get that depressed feeling just think of all the beauty you saw this weekend. Places like that must let you know that everything is right with the world.

And that water weight will be gone in no time. Just drink like a barrel of water.
Welcome home.

Holy crap, hiking through the grand canyon sound really challenging! Its awesome that you're making your "exercise" be interesting so that you actually look forward to it! Wish I could come with you one of these times but I bet I couldn't keep up with you :p

oooh. sounds like you had fun. and wow. your next trip sounds impressive! when are you planning to have that trip?

Hey ya MP! Glad you enjoyed your trip :D Wish I could go with ya on the next one, but, alas, this poor peanut would turn to PB I think  I love running and hiking though - I need to find a place around here to try that :D

Have a great day! ;)

Getting better, I'm noticeably less swollen today, but the knees are still tight. It is a hard hike, but I can't think of anything I'd rather do (except sleep, I do like that a LOT!) My rim-to-rim hike is in mid August, I'll be hiking at night so I don't die in the heat, and I'm really excited about it.

This morning I walked/jogged my 2 miles. Last night I did the NYC Ballet workout, I love that one, it's gentle but makes me sweat & I can feel the muscular improvement after doing it several times. It's so beautiful too. I'm going to a BBQ this afternoon, but I'm making a fabulous salad, so I think I'll be able to keep it under control. Plus every night I'm going to run an additional mile in an effort to get down to an 8 minute mile time. I've never run an 8 min. mile. Not even when we were supposed to in high school (half my life ago). What makes me think that at 33 I'm suddenly the fitness queen (or princess, I guess :p )? Well, I'm much stronger than I was then, plus smarter, more determined, less lazy, the list goes on. So that's what I'm working toward. It was my best friend's idea. She timed her mile and was disappointed and suggested we both shoot for what we could never do in high school (when we tried to run it together back then too). We're in different cities now, but we're recording our times and telling each other how we're doing. She's doing the rim-to-rim Canyon hike with me next month. I think it will be a blast!

I'm hungry now, just had fruit for breakfast (but SO MUCH of it, I love fruit plates for meals in summer) Had fruit & cheese for dinner last night too. Yum. Ok, I'll check in later. Have a great day please!

207! You passed me again! We are doing a little dance here. Lol! ;) The fruit plate for breakfast is a great idea. I just always seem to be hungry so soon after I do that. Hope you have a good time at the BBQ, but not too good! ;) By the way, you are a fitness princess! :D

NYC ballet workout? What's that! I guess I've been gone so long I've fallen behind on all the new stuff to try out!

It's available on DVD, it's really cool. Some minor ballet knowledge is a plus, but It's been 28 years since I've taken ballet and I managed to survive it. The first time was pretty clumsy, but I got better pretty quickly.

We're going to have to work out some new dance moves, HH, I don't want to keep going back & forth. I told you I'd pass you this time though, I was just a little swollen from the big climb. Tomorrow I should be back to normal, whatever normal is.

Didn't find that book I was talking about yet, but I'll keep trying. I think I'll shop online for it maybe. The bookstore was sold out. Anything that helps me manage my eating when I'm not at home in my "routine" has got to help. I don't do badly at all when I stay home. The problem is that I want to go places and enjoy my life, and that's tough to do when I get depressed about food because I can't control myself in a new town with new flavors.

Oh, yeah, another tangent, HH, the fruit plates keep me full for a couple of hours, at least 3 if I have 1oz of cheese or nuts with it. I eat every 3 hours anyway, and the fruit plate is a huge volume of food for very few calories. Try eating it for dinner once, that was fun, and it doesn't matter much if you get hungry at bedtime, you just go to sleep (at least I do).

Damn that hike sounds like tough going  I think I'd collapse and die after an hour or so so well done for being able to do something like that!:D

I agree with you about getting time in to go out in the middle of nature. I live in the central belt of Scotland so not far away from the highlands and I have to say I love it up there! When you think how quickly habitat destruction is happening you start to wonder if these places will still be around for the next generation.:(

I don't do badly at all when I stay home.

This is totally how I've been feeling. I need to just stay at home for at least the rest of the summer to get the next 15 to 20 pounds gone. I don't want to be tempted by going out, or parties, or vacation, or having company over, or entertaining. All of the things that have always been a big part of my life and helped me get to the weight I was. I feel like I need a few months of coccooning.

And then I'll fly free like a changed butterfly!!! A butterfly who will still have to stick to an 1800 calorie diet!!! LOL!!!

New dance moves, indeed! Is there any dance where you only go forward? Lol! I mean, I like you and all, must sheesh! ;) I'm almost afraid to weigh in again! I don't want to see anything higher than 208!

forward - dance!

You could do the Cotton Eyed Joe. I'm pretty sure that only goes forward. LOL

(I took country line dancing for a PE credit in college. :D )

Lol @ TM! :D :D

I was going to do a country western dancing class but I ended up dropping it cause they weren't going to do the line dancing. That's the part I wanted to learn!! :( Hey, you live close, TM. Maybe you could come teach me! :p

Sorry, MP, now I'm using your diary to leave messages to others.

206.5
11:20 mile barefoot

I don't usually count half pounds, but it clearly was NOT 207, and I couldn't tell if it was 206. I'm also posting my mile times. This morning I ran barefoot on the treadmill to strengthen the little foot muscles that help with balance (which I completely lack) and help prevent injuries (which I have regularly and in surplus). My fiance was kind enough to tell me 11:20 was slow but he shut up when I said, "fine, you run it barefoot & faster then." He promptly faked a heart attack and went back to work. I read about barefoot running and I'm going to do a mile a day 6 days a week on the treadmill alternating barefoot and shod (that means wearing shoes, right?) This is in addition to the 2 miles I do at the park, but the treadmill work is specifically to improve my speed.

As for new dances, sure, we'll try it! Cotton Eye Joe it is! Now if I could just get the peanut gallery to exercise. C'mon girls, I can't exercise for all three of us, plus we'd look pretty silly all tied together and only one of us moving!

Confessions for independence day. No idea how many calories I ate. I had about 700-800 left for the day before I went to the barbecue where I ate some very virtuous veggies, veggie burgers (with a little cheese  ) and more veggies, and watermelon. Then I ate 2 servings of potato chips, and 2 small pieces of single layer chocolate cake with whipped cream frosting. It was the lightest cake I've had of the type, but I have no clue how many calories I ate. Oh well, that day is over, and now I just have to worry about friday when I take my mom out to lunch & the movies. I have a coupon for a free popcorn, but I think it's child size & we'll share, so I should survive it, and I told Mom to find a non-buffet place where we can have healthy salads with veggies for lunch. Nothing fattening. We'll see how she does. She's a nutritional nightmare, so I'm not holding my breath.
