I have seriously looked into the Nike+ system - I have been drooling over it since I first got my Nano and found out about it.

I was determined to buy it this week.

Instead, I ended up with a pair of Saucony shoes and a pedometer that does all the different things the Nano attachment does with the exception of uploading to a web site.

After wearing the Nike 180's, in several stores for a LONG time, I just couldn't take the risk - they are a narrow shoe and were simply too snug along the side and top of my feet. Also, I read review after review saying that while Nike makes some GREAT basketball shoes, their running shoes leave a lot to be desired.

I was VERY bummed about this. I REALLY want the Nike+ system.

What I have found with technology is to never buy the first generation.

With time perhaps, there will be a wider selection of shoes that with go with the Nano technology.

If you get the system - I'd LOVE to hear how the shoes feel for you - the concept is FANTASTIC!

m2m,
I know exactly what you mean regarding nike running shoes. They are pretty narrow and with my sasquatch feet it just isn't going to fly. I've been actually jogging with Nike basketball shoes because of the fact.

The fact that you really don't need nike shoes was the big seller for me. Spending $10 for a pouch that wraps around your laces sounds like a better solution than shoes you don't really want.

As for first generation tech. I haven't heard any bad reviews about the nike+ system. I did a lot of research before I took the plunge. The only complaint I've read about was that the sensors battery can not be replaced, but because a new sensor is so inexpensive it really isn't THAT big of a deal.

this morning

I have 2 shoes that work for me.

1. New Balanace support shoes

2. Asics support.

I get about 200 miles out of a pair of NB, and 150 our of Asics. Not real good.

That's true - and I would consider spending the $10 bucks for the pouch that wraps around your laces - EXCEPT - to log on to the Nike+ site, you need to register with the number that comes with your Nike shoes.

Granted, I'm sure there's going to be a plethora of bootlegged numbers out there to enable registering - or until it becomes a pay for site where anyone with the Nano adaptor and lace pouch can use the online system.

The problem is the *marriage* between Nike & Apple. Now if they can come to grips with a little polygamy, then we'll be all set ;)

m2m,

yeah, the fact that nike and apple are shacked up kind of stinks. I highly doubt that apple will stray from nike... one thing about apple is that they remain faithful lol
