MidGaGuy's Diary

My husband is from South GA and is a graduate of UGA. Ever been to Thomasville?

Hi Amy, I've not been through Thomasville that I know of . I think it's down near Valdosta somewhere if I'm not mistaken .
Tell your husband , Go Dawgs!

Congrats on the weight loss!! woo hoo.

Have you thought about adding some weight training to your exercise? Even using dumbells would be something. You should talk to BDJ about it--he is kicking ass at the gym, and really getting results, too. Not to mention, strength training will help with your knees and many other aches and pains you might have. WT is really necessary for you to keep losing weight, so the sooner you get started, the better.:)

I know I know , you are 100% right . I am going to , I kinda set myself a goal to get into the 200's first. I'm so close to it yet so far. I know there is no better time than the present but I can be stubborn !:boxing:
Keep on me about it ok ? *L*

Well, dinner would be fine as long as you took her someplace cool--some neat little ethnic restaurant or something. Or bungee jumping..:rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I love neat little ethnic restaurants that's such a good idea! Bungee Jumping may be a bit much for a first date... maybe the second!

LOL look at us planning Paul's date for him... we really have control over this harem:rotflmao:

for today :
8/6 Walked 2 miles this evening (It totally kicked my ass tonight ! It was 100 degrees here today and about as humid as it's been this summer. I honestly thought about quitting after the first mile . First time I've thought about stopping since I started. I finished though . )
40 miles total walked since starting on 7/17/07

Well I can tell you one thing that it won't be ! No bungee jumping ! Ever ! *L*
Paul = doesn't like heights .

I'm thinking maybe seafood, I know she likes that . I'm going to talk to her and see what she feels like . I don't want to force something on her she might not like.

The sooner you get started on the strength training, the sooner you'll get into the 200s...:) The lbs will literally melt off you. And then you'll get hotter and sexier at a faster rate for that new lady of yours.:jump: :jump: Oh, and the gyms are air conditioned--so it won't be 100degrees and humid.

Good job on pushing through the walk! I hate heat and humidity--so you have my deepest respect for sticking to it.:) Go Pa-ul, Go Pa-ul!:jump:

My other idea for the first date was skydiving. But as you don't like heights, I guess that's out too. :rotflmao: So are you afraid of flying, then?

Hey everyone! Let's give Paul some rep points. He certainly deserves some--especially for walking 2miles in 100 degree humid weather.:jump:

I think the humidity melted me . Thanks Kimberly for being my cheerleader. now I'm trying to picture you with pom poms

Skydiving is for sure out ! Flying , I'm great with it . If i'm inside I don't have a care in the world . I can go up in a super tall building no problem . I can even be on the roof , but if I get near the edge . umm no *L* I think it's a control thing . I don't feel I'm in control when I'm up high like that . I don't do rollar coasters either *L*

Ok , so I just call the only gym here that I can go to . The other one is a Curves and I think that's women only. Anyways this girl answers the phone and you can just tell by her voice she is probably wafer thin , 18/20 years old and probably has never had an issue with weight in her life.
So I ask her to tell me about some of their programs and how much to join etc . She just says " well it's like $50 a month but you can join for a year or two for less " I say well ok but how about trainers ? can you tell me a little about what all you have to offer? Do you have any staff or anything that can educate me on what would be best for me ? "well we have 4 business cards of trainers you can call , you want their numbers?" I say no thanks , I'll just come by in the next day or so , thanks .
So it looks like this is the type of place where you just pay to get in the door and the rest is all on you. Either get your own workout plan or get a hired gun to help you. I've never dealt with a personal trainer so I have no idea what to expect if I do . I don't really want anyone to stand over me and motivate me by telling me what a fatass I am and to lift more faster . I just want to know what type of exercises I need to do to achieve my goals and how many of each I should do and for how long .
This may be an adventure in the making here .
If anyone has any advice on what to expect from a trainer and/or gym , I'm all ears !

Hi there. I once had a personal trainer and I didn't like it. I really think it is a matter of personality weather you will feel comfortable with a trainer or not. I believe they are very good and they really DO help, but as you said it is very UN-relaxing someone being over you all the time. I am enough stressed with watching out my calories, sweating while exercising and last thing I want to worry about is to maintain communication with other people. But I realise that there are people who would really love to be motivated and conrolled and it works good for them. You probably have to try and see how do you feel - there is no other way to decide.

Hey Paul,

there are a few trainers on this site. If you look at a couple of the stickied threads, you'll find them. I know Solon aka Chef has asked a few questions and a couple trainers have answered them back. So far, they seem really helpful. I'll email you in a sec about something, however.

OOohh, I am soooo NOT the cheerleader type...lmbo...but I might look cute in a cheerleader outfit...:rotflmao: Anyway, I'm happy to oblige with your cheerleader fantasy...:rotflmao: :jump:

Oooh, he's a man who likes to be in control, and yet he's in my harem!:rotflmao: I love to fly, too, btw.

And--great job on the additional pound lost. (Can you see me cheering in my short skirt and pom poms?)

That sucks about the gym. Milledgeville isn't THAT small, is it? I can't believe there's no other gym besides the Curves (which is for women only--how discriminatory!!). Well, I know that some people get trainers who aren't drill sergeants. I think it's possible for you to find someone who can give you the professional advice you need without calling you a fat ass...:) Good luck with that, and I hope you've got some money, b/c I don't think PTs come very cheaply.

Wow, three of my favorite things wearing the same blouse!! ;)

David C

You know, I'm starting to get jealous at all this attention your big boobs are getting, Sheryl...:rotflmao: I think I'm going to have to take some pics of myself with various things stuck in my cleavage...how about a big screen TV?:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
