Michelle's Place- A bit wiser this time around...

Power to you for running with a cute little bun in the oven! I imagine that increasing your heart rate and getting your endorphins pumping like that would be good for your baby! Maybe you'll tucker the little guy/girl out so you won't get kicked at night :)

good luck and have fun!

A Good Day

Stayed at the same time (46 minutes) but ran an extra... I don't know... maybe a 10th of a mile:D. So I did good. I feel really energized and not sure how to expend that energy. We are moving to a new apartment December 6th and I need to pack but the allure of the computer and tv have kept me on the couch for the last week! sigh. Just getting back into blogging and such:) So I will be productive today! Darn it;) lol
Hi TinySara!! lol that's a cute name:) I wondered today what the baby feels while I am jogging because I certainly feel bouncy. I wondered if maybe it will get used to being bounced and after it's born to lull it to sleep I will need a vibrating crib or something lol. We shall see:D
Have a good day y'all. If I can stay away from the salt it will be a good day. Yum SALT! :drool5:

That's awesome you run with your dog! I have a golden retriever who is 3 1/2 and he is the best trainer ever! I run with him on the trails in the woods off a leash and I try my best to keep pace with him. It's funny because no matter how close I get to him, he always speeds up to make sure he stays in the lead.

Congrats on the running!

-Adam

Hi Adam! lol That sounds really nice! I love trails in the woods!! There is one that offshoots from the path that I run but being a girl I am bit nervous about venturing into secluded trees by myself!!
I would say my dog would protect me but she is a chihuahua and her name is "Spaz"... there is a reason for that lol. She keeps up pretty good though. She will never give me a run for my money but she can make it the whole way which is good for a little dog! She does really well off leash too but because of past abuse in her previous home she attacks other people and dogs so I keep her leash on my belt and it retracts so she can get that "off leash" feeling but I have control in case she "spaz's" out lol. Thanks for dropping by!!

Congratsn on the jogging! I've actually started, but am not posting do to all the undo pressure that this place puts on people! ;) ;) :D Congrats on the new soon to be baby!! Good Times!!! Also, I love the photo in your Avitar!! It makes me smile :) everytime I see it pop up in some of the other threads I visit! I am a big fan of flashing "cheesy/fun" smiles in alot of my pictures... I'm just worried I may have passed that on to my kids... you tell me :D...

Yes, I am a PROUD father!!

OMG!! Those made me lol! The one of your daughter is awesome!! he he he I passed the skill of using the camera to take your own picture to my son. He has done pretty well. I can actually fit up to 4 people, including myself and take a picture! It's a skill I tell you.
I like the cheesy pics too:D More people should have them. Forget looking sexy it's all about the cheese;)
Jogging is freakin' awesome. I used to run 2.5 miles every morning then got lazy. Story of my life. I actually have dreams where I run long distances with no issues. It's really cool.

I agree about the CHEESE!!! :D "Seriousness" kills! Oh, and fitting four people into take it yourself photography is definately a skill. ;)

One last thought... the "got lazy" may be the story of your life, but it's the story of many people on here, including me! I prefer to call it BUSY, but lazy summed it up best!! ;) Keep workin' how you are, and after the prego thing is completed, you'll be doin' in reality what your dreamin' about right now!

You are impressive. I just started walking/jogging in hopes that it will help me lose weight faster.

You'll have to get one of those run behind strollers pretty soon.

Busy... I like that ;) lol. Also as long as my BP stays in a good range then I can technically run all the way up to 9 months!! I did about 1.5 miles today in chunks but hoping to get that up to 3 miles with fewer recovery periods. The trail has lots of grueling hills though which make even walking a huff and puff activity for me lol. Of course if I go backwards on the trail the major hills become downhills ;) . I will get there! Thanks for the support! :D

Hi Daisy Crazy! Thank you:D Jogging is the best way to lose weight. In Jan 07 I started watching my calories and lost 30lbs. I added jogging (just as much as I could for 20 minutes 3x a week) and lost another 10lbs. Then I added a cardio weight training class and that was awesome! I got toned and lost another 5lbs. Just have to keep up with it! I think that is more important than what you do. I didn't and the weight crept back. I am certainly a bit wiser this time around:) but there is still struggle. Just have to keep on keepin' on!
I am looking for a good jogging stroller. I want to be back to it ASAP after the birth. I have heard 6 weeks is a general rule. I take my dog on my walks and I am bit worried because she is all over the trail. She is going to have issues with the stroller I can tell. She's just going to get tangled up!! lol I might have to get one early or borrow one so I can train her to not run under the wheels! he he he

Hi Brandy!! It's whatever you enjoy most:) Walking seems to be something you like. Walk for a few months and get in the habit and then try to mix some running in. It will be easier to work from an already formed habit than to just start. I have done it both ways and the habit is more effective. I have been walking for like 3 months now:) It was time to mix it up;) lol

Hey cool, Mish, you're going to be one of those jogging moms with the tent thingamajiggy cart with your kids. Awwwww. AND a dog, ambitious woman.
Oh, I just read in a previous post of yours he's a chihauhau "Spaz". He can sit in the tent with the kids? Oh lord what a sight.

You're doing great and if you have time to visit my diary, you can find out what my inner fatty was up to today. lol

Kickin' ass!

I cuss fairly infrequently so putting that in my title makes me feel all edgy and deviant! lol
However, on to the good news!! I made my goal today!!! 3.2 miles in 45 minutes! Yay!! I ran more than I walked which was awesome as I went up several hills and one medium-major hill! I did very good and feel energized! I was dragging this morning and almost decided to take an off day but I didn't and I am so glad I did! It is fun to improve and though I haven't lost any weight (which is good) I am noticing differences in my arms, butt, and sides. So there is fat coming off! I am glad. I felt very out of control and was just watching myself balloon up. I am happy to have some of that control back and even though my food is still all over the place I feel like I am on a good track:)
For recording purposes my weight was 221.4 this morning. sigh. Yup there it is. Hopefully I can keep it around there. My doc said I could possibly not gain weight as long as the baby is growing. So I think that is balancing losing weight slowly and also gaining the baby weight. We shall see. I am not going to go all crazy because I don't want to risk anything. So slow and sort of easy is how it's going to go.
HI Lili!!! Your inner fatty kicked some butt yesterday! I was so proud:) I think if I get to running long distances the dog might have to ride in the stroller with the baby! lol. Maybe Spaz can build up the endurance while I build up mine. I took her for a more relaxing walk along the lake shore today after my run and it was nice. I even let her off leash for some independent dog time. :D She did good. I tested her at one point and stopped walking and she immediately stopped and looked back at me to see what I was doing. She is such a good dog. Now if only she didn't attack other people and dogs!! That is the only worry for me with the baby. She attacks fast moving things and the baby won't be fast for awhile but she is a bit crazy so I worry. Need to establish if she bites the baby she will be in for a world of hurt and we might have to give her away. (World of hurt is figurative.... I have learned that if I "spank" her she rolls over and pees so it behooves me to keep my temperature!! lol)
Hope you all have a good day. We are off to ABQ tonight so I might not be back here for a few days... of course I am sure I will find a way;) lol

Hi Mishi! Sorry I haven't stopped in here before, guess I kinda overlooked your diary in the shuffle. You're such a great friend to Brandy though I had to swing by!

Wow, you sure do keep active with the pregancy, that's excellent that you are able to do that.

There's a bit of reading to do here, so I'll post more once I learn a little more about you. Thanks for the rep BTW!

Hi Mish; I went to sleep at 10:15 pm and woke just before 2:00 am ... grrrr.

But the upside is I get some quality reading/posting time at WLF. Thanks for your support in my getting back into exercise!

I completely understand that great feeling of getting better time, length and pace in runs and I'm so happy for you. You're inspiring me to get back there. I mean, no matter how large or out of shape I've been, I always remember that jogging only ONCE would make me feel happy again, and that after only one or two weeks, I'd be improving.

Hey, do you have any heel or shin splint problems? No pain during jogs, or in your heels first thing you get up in the a.m? Reason I ask is because I used to get plantar fasciitis (heel muscle separates a bit from the heel bone) and it caused pain. Only thing to do was ice twice a day and rest for a couple days. I could continue jogging but had to faithfully ice after runs to deal with inflammation.

Gee, too bad about Spaz being such a spaz with fast moving things. It's funny until you might have to give the little furball away. I hope it works out. Little Spazmanian Devil. My dog does the same as her, stops when I stop and stays until I move. Except last night when he chased six rabbits all in different directions - sight to behold.

Great job running mishi!! LOL. The dog rolls over and pees!?? I bet after he pees he thinks "hahahahahah. THATS WHAT YOU GET!" lol. Keep up the great job!

Late Night Drive

Hello all!!! So last night we made a late night effort to get to ABQ (our hometown) and got in at midnight last night. It is hard to drive at night!! When it's dark it is so much less interesting because you can't see the scenery. There was a full moon which illuminated the ground a little but eventually you just have to fall asleep... well I have to fall asleep lol. The nice thing about late night traveling is that now we are here and today doesn't have to be a travel day. We come down once or twice a month so this drive has started getting tedious. Should be a lot more fun in the winter with the snow in Raton Pass...which is a twisty, mountainous road!
So today I have plans to have lunch with my best friend and I am hoping to get my son's hair cut. He is looking somewhat "yettish" and his hair tends to stick up so he looks disheveled... at least to me. I don't know if he will ever get away with long hair because I enjoy the clean cut look! Speaking of my hubby needs one too;) lol
Here are a few son pics to amuse you:
Here is a pic of him helping "Gram" decorate the porch for Halloween..

Here is an example of pumpkin carving and hair sticking up...

And this is for jzthedetermined...

Yeah that's right... we know how to roll;) lol
So today I have a small goal to go for a walk. Normally I would have an easy walk day today if I wanted. Because I am in a different state it is harder to actually do the exercises that I want to do. Ideally I would love to walk on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but with my husband home it is harder to leave for exercise. I miss him during the week and enjoy our lazy weekends..... I know we could work out together but we have some issues with that. Still haven't found a way to work through those. Definitely a family exercise would be fun but we just aren't there yet. sigh.
Anywho...
Hello Reluctantcabbie! No worries. I hadn't been posting here for a long time because I figured this wasn't the place for pregnancy but getting into a pregnancy forum just wasn't working for me so I just came back. Hey it's all about fitness right?? lol Thank you for the compliment:)
OMG Lili! That image of your dog chasing 6 rabbits all in different directions is funny! lol I bet it was even better in person. This is a picture of my dog:) Isn't she a cutie :D

Of course this is a much more accurate picture of her;) lol

Ok apparently I am in the picture sharing mode:p lol
Hi Brandy! Thank you:) Yes it is funny. She was beaten in the home she had before me so she is very submissive when I get mad. Sadly I think it's part of all small dogs nature to "leak" when they get freaked out lol. but I bet she is totally thinking that lol;)
Hope you all have a great day today!! Yay!! It's Friday!!!

Hi Mishi; Love the pic of Spaz with the box on his head. Was the next pic of him falling down the stairs. He's cute!

Here's some of Rufus, sorry I don't have any of him colored or dyed. Haven't tried that ... yet.

Well it's Monday again

Good Morning!!!
Well after a pretty much sedentary weekend (sadly I didn't get to the walk I wanted to do because of goings on) I am back ready to work again. Today's time was 46 minutes but I was also back after a 3 day rest and wanted to take it sort of easy. That said I ran more this time than I did on Thursday at my 45 minute mark. It was tough. I was slightly worried about pushing myself but I have a gung ho nature and it was hard to squash this morning. Mind you the only reason I am trying to keep it relatively squashed is I don't want to over do it while I am pregnant. After baby you all are going to see some drive coming out of here!! lol
Lili you had asked about shin splints or pain and I am sorry I didn't answer you yet! I forgot:) Yes I do get planter fasecitis (or how ever you spell that). I tend to get it when I am just getting into running and my weight is up. If I take it easier it's not as bad. I got a small spell of it when I first starting jogging again but it has gone away. Ice doesn't really help me. I just have to work through it. My doc told me that when I get it I can run with it even though it hurts but it will take longer to heal if I do that. So I just try to take it easy. I have never gotten shin splints that I know of but my muscles ache. That might be normal but today my calves, quads and hamstrings were so sore!! I know it's the uphills that do it and my calves have been a little tight the last several months. Not sure if it has anything to do with the pregnancy but I am trying to stretch them more. My fingers are crossed that I don't get planter ficeitus again but if I do I am sure I can work through it. I did get it really bad once when I was running a lot at the gym. That took me out for a couple of weeks. I also found out I have a small heel spur too. Just have to take it easy.
Today I am going to try to be productive around the house. We shall see how that goes lol. Hope you all had a great weekend and welcome back to Monday!!! :D
P.S. Rufus looks like an awesome dog!! If your ever in Denver let me know and we can take a walk... or maybe a jog;)
