MGB's Diary: "Clean Your Plate," they said.

So since I've been going to the gym, I pack a cooler the night before of my post workout snacks. Depending on what type of training I'm doing for the day, I try to pack a protein rich snack: 1c 1% cottage cheese with sliced fresh fruit, Sheryl's Ghetto Banana Burrito, Wellements Bavarian Chocolate Whey Protein Powder w/ 1c 1% milk. After leaving the gym I have a tendency to run errands directly after. Instead of starving for a couple hours or buying something to eat that's shitty, it's nice having it on hand.
Today was a good day. I ended up doing a bit of cardio, then worked on my back, shoulders, and biceps. Alexis was there once again to watch over me and to give me pointers. She was cute. She told me that she really thought I was funny and was wondering if I was interested in hanging out some time. I'll definitely take her up on the offer, because I don't know anyone around Binghamton and well, it's nice having a female friend who is a personal trainer. Wohooo! (And if she's a lesbo, then yehaw for me on Temporary Lesbian Days! hahaaaaa jk) :rotflmao: So enough BS.... off to today's accomplishments.

Workouts:

- Turbo Jam (20 min)
- Elliptical Trainer Level 12, IT (5 min warm up, 40 min, 5 min cooldown)
- Weight training: Back, Shoulders, and Biceps (machines and free weights) (40 mins)
- 2 hours of awesome, "holy moly I'm wearing ankles for earrings" kind of sex

Meals:

Breakfast:
- Alaskan salmon locks (not farm raised) with low fat cream cheese on a whole grain Thomas Bagel
- nectarine

Post Workout Snack:
- Wellements Bavarian Chocolate Whey Protein Powder in 1c 1% milk (250 cal)

Snack: (ate while running errands, 2.5 hrs after protein shake)
- container of 1/2c 1% cottage cheese with fresh pineapple and grapes (270 cal)

Lunch:
- 93% lean ground beef hamburger patty on a hamburger bun with tomatoes, red onions and mustard
- sauteed zucchini slices, green beans and portabella mushrooms
- leftover red beans and rice (510 cal)

Snack: (Sean came home fiending ice cream)
- 1 small sugar free/ fat free chocolate soft serve (cone not eaten)
(200 cal)

Pre dinner snack:
- english muffin with 1tb peanut butter (195 cal)

Dinner:
- whole wheat pasta with chicken breast and homemade tomato basil sauce
(305 cal)

Total Calories: 2,195 cal (1990-2340)

Notes: I snacked like hell today, but it's alright. I stayed within my calorie range. I went to the mall earlier this morning and for the first time, I was able to choose a few pairs of jeans and tops and actually fit them. I was doing my infamous ghetto booty dance in the changing room when I got my ass (and no, it wasn't "muffin toppin' " or anything.. haha) into a pair of 11/12 size jeans in one of those Charlotte Russe type of stores. It was huge accomplishment for me! WOOHOOOO! Tomorrow I'll hit that Arc Trainer and hit the weights for chest, triceps, and abs. Goodnight, everyone....

I get the distinct impression that university students in the US are pretty different than the ones in Canada. I get the image of frat boys and preppy sorority girls in my head. lol But that's probably just because that's how TV portrays American students. We don't have frat or sorority houses here, THANK GOD. Although I've only met three, I badly hate frat boys. The gym I go to is my university gym and we don't have guys going around being douches. There are a few who walk around like their God's gift to the pussy, but they mind their own business. :)

Dark jean capris sounds perfect with a black top. I am horrible at accessorizing so I'll definitely need help with that. I will be Ohio this weekend and they have some great store in Columbius so I'll have a looka round and see what I find.

Do try the ArcTrainer. You may like it more than Ellie. Ask your trainer to show you some exercises on a fitness ball. You can do a full body workout with the ball and weights and it's way more comfortable than the weight benches. They are only $13 and you can do it at home too.

Why hello, shexy soon to be doctor lady... thanks for dropping in! This gym's great, because it's one of those types where they don't allow those huge ass body builders who grunt, drop weights, yell to pump themselves, rub balls with one another.. or whatever else they do. (I used to be a part of a 24hr fitness in Hawaii and it was such a damn freak show with men wearing shorts shorter and tighter than women's. Freaky thing is, the fronts were just as flat. HA!) With this gym, you get a mixture of people, so I'm happy. The only problem are the little pervs from Binghamton Uni who believe they're entitled to talk to you and ask you on dates while you're working out.

I hate when men dress like bitches. It really looks so unmasculine, and that's especially sad that the fronts were flat. :rotflmao: Personally I like the baggy homeboy look.

I'll put those to use when I can't get to the gym when it's snowing like hell during the winter. hahaaa ( I HATE driving in the snow.. sand's so much easier. LOL jk)

Lower Body (3 sets, 12-15 reps)

- abductor/ adductor, but will probably get rid of this and just do squats, because I feel like I'm actually really getting a good workout
- lunges
- glute machine

Back, Shoulders, Biceps (2 sets, 12-15 reps)
- bicep curls (free weights and machine)
- lat pulldown
- lateral raises (free weights)
- row machine
- shoulder press
- military press (free weights)
- open arm bicep curls (free weights)
- Rear delt

Chest, Triceps, Abs and Back (2 sets 12-15 reps)
- chest press (machine and free weights)
- pec fly machine
- tricep extension
- tricep kickbacks (free weights)
- tricep bench dips (bent knee)
- 10 set, 10 rep ab mat routine
- ab curl
- roman chair (3 sets of 10 reps)

We were gonna try to get to Manhattan to go to Gallagher's for a steak after the game, but the logistics got too complicated, so we're gonna take the train in and out.

I'm not a big baseball fan, but I do like to go to the park once a year. Should be fun!

Alrighty so today was a great day. AmyRB (here at WLF- check out her diary, because she's awesome) suggested that I try the ArcTrainer instead of the elliptical. I have been working on the elliptical for the past week and a half and have noticed the Arc Trainers to be the least used cardio machine. There are about 12 Arc Trainers at my gym and I would say that in a 2 hour span, I've seen maybe 3 people use them for not more than 20 mins. A bit intimidating don't you think? Ha! So, today I hopped my happy ass on one and let me say this... I freakin' LOVE Arc Trainers!!!!! I thought it was going to be difficult to stand upright, be coordinated, etc... infact it was much easier on my knees and back than the elliptical. Also, my quads, hips, ass, and thighs were alive with twitches. I was amazed at how quickly my heart rate increased and the resistance/ incline makes this machine great for Interval training. I've decided to combine the Arc Trainer and Elliptical for my cardio: MWF- Elliptical, TThSat- Arc Trainer. Once again, thank you so much for the tip Amy! Anyways... let's get on with today's accomplishments.

Workout:

- preworkout stretch/ yoga (5 mins)
- 5 min warm up on Elliptical
- Arc Trainer (IT, Resistance= 50, Incline= 3, Level=6)(40 mins + 5 min cooldown)
- weight training: chest, triceps, abs and back (55 min)
- 5 min cooldown on elliptical
- postworkout stretch (5 mins)

*I normally stretch before and after a workout, but decided to write it down to show the importance of doing so. It really helps to ease tightness that most of us experience the day after a hard workout.

Meals:

Breakfast:
- bowl of 1/2 c halved strawberries and 1 whole sliced nectarine with 1/2c 1% cottage cheese and 1c Kashi Go Lean
- light english muffin with sugar free jam and promise light (470 cal)

Post Workout Meal:
- Wellement's Protein Whey Powder with 1c 1% milk
- medium banana (360 cal)

Lunch:
- whole wheat pasta with homemade tomato basil sauce with chicken breast
- slice Sargento swiss cheese
- 1c steamed sliced zucchini with garlic (440 cal)

Snack:
-nectarine with 1c grapes
- 1c 1% milk (290 cal)

Dinner:
- pork loin chop
- 1c red beans and rice (lower sodium)
- 2 c steamed zucchini with garlic (590 cal)

Total Calories: 2,140 cal (1990-2340)
