Since a journal seems to be the thing to do I figured I'd give it a go. My name is Greg. I'm 33 from the mountains of NC. Like several of you, Ive fought with my weight for what seems like forever. I was at an all time high of around 240 when i decided to loose weight. I started a strict diet and exercise program and got down to 155. Unfortunatly it was a low carb diet so I lost as much muscle as i did fat. I looked ok with clothes on but had no muscle tone to speak of. I went from a size 44 jeans down to a 29 and for a guy 6'2 its really hard to find a size 29 jeans lol. I was doing well keeping the weight off when in April of 2005 i had a nasty motorcycle accident. I had a couple of beers and was leaving hooter when i decided to do a wheelie. When i brought the front tire down, it locked and i flipped. I wasnt wearing a helmet so my face was the first thing to hit the ground. The bike then came down on my head shoving the read footpeg into my skull. I wasn't given much of a chance to live but i pulled through. It took 3 hrs of brain surgery along with facial reconstruction and a few chunks of titanium to put humpty dumpty back together again. Since then i feel off the wagon and gained most all my weight back. I'm here to get back into the swing of things so i will keep a journal of my progress here. Also I'm attaching a few pics today and will update as i go. This time I want to focus more on my bodyfat% rather than weight. I'd love to beback in a size 29 but i want some muscle to show for my work this time. Feel free to make any comments or suggestions and thanks everyone for all the kind words! I've only been here a few dys and already feel like I found a new home!

Welcome to the forum Greg! Glad to see you've started a journal I'll def have to check it out some more :D

Also--no worries Im sure the S.A.M Challenge will all help us kick some major ass on the weightloss!

Welcome to the forum!! I haven't been around here as much as I should be over the last 6-7 months, but would like to welcome you and wish you good luck!

Sounds like a nasty bike crash you had, glad everything has worked out in your favor! Learning everything you can about nutrition and exercise will definitely benefit you in your endeavor.

So, are you from the Asheville area?? I'm also from NC although I no longer live there..

I'm loving the forum so far! I was thinking about seeing if the S.A.M challenge contestants would be interested in a beach trip after we finish.

Yeah it was nasty but we live and learn. Yeah i live in Asheville. what part of NC were u from?

oh ok. not far from me at all. I was born and raised in Burnsville but moved to Asheville about 7 years ago. I lived in Nashville for about 4 months but it just wasnt for me!

I visit family every so often, but am not there that much. Especially now that I have my new job and even especially now with my upcoming surgery. :(

I've only been to Nashville once, but it was only for a few days.

Do you still ride?

I have been stick at 230.6 for about 2 weeks and this morning i finally saw 229.8. There is no better feeling then breaking a plateau. Well maybe a big plate of mexican food on a cheat day but it's close! I started doing cardio twice a day to hopefully break it but i think i will keep it up. I was only doing cardio at night but since i have been running before work i have a lot more energy throughout the day. My mini goal is 219 and I can't wait to get back in the teens! lol I also need to buy some new work clothes but i refuse to buy any until i make it down one pant size!:hurray:

I feel you on buying clothes... AND work clothes are way more expensive than casual clothes... Keep it up and you will get there!
