Weight / Goal for today:

Jan 4th, 2020
Weight: 240 lbs / 109 kg
Goal: 1100 g / 6oz / 15 mins walking / 1 fruit or non-starchy veggie serving

Finally hit 240 lbs! (The scale read 239.8) Like Amy said it's important not to get too caught up in daily weigh-ins but it feels great to get here!

there's nothing wrong with weighing yourself every day or as i did, even multiple times a day. a weight loss graph will never be a smooth line, but if that jagged line drops over a week or over a month, seeing a trend to me was enough of a smile to be able to put up with the minor ups and downs.

Oh for sure- I have several excel spreadsheets from old attempts to lose weight, with names like "Weight Chart X", "Weight Chart Y", and the optimistic "Weight Chart Final".

So good to see it saying two-thirty-something, after so long saying two-forty-something, too, I bet! Even if it's just a fraction under, still really nice to see! :)

Update for yesterday:

Jan 4th, 2020
Weight: 240 lbs / 109 kg
Goal: 1100 g / 6oz / 15 mins walking / 1 fruit or non-starchy veggie serving
Food: 1546 g
Drink: 12 oz
5 mins walking / 1 apple
Calories: 2925
The food and calories are estimated, since we went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch. That sort of threw off the rest of the day, I'm sorry to say. And although we had a small dinner there were also cookies last night.

Hey Mega, I think its good that you are tracking and recording your food. It will be a big help to you.

I am sure you know that at 2,900 calories you probably won't lose weight, but its not a terrible day, no binge and at least you got an apple. When we go out to Mexican restaurants I always order some form of taco salad, even that can be high calorie depending on how much beans and glop they include, but its almost always better than anything else on the menu.

Hang in here with us and you will do fine!

Back on track from yesterday! What I've been doing is keeping track of the food weight over the course of the day (by component) and staying under the weight goal. Then at the end of the day I go back and tabulate the calories. Will continue with this system for the next week, since it's practically as fast as just weighing everything, and it helps me keep tabs on my calorie intake.

I also have a new method of keeping track of calorie density on paper. I'm going to test it out for the rest of this week and I'll share if I think it's worthwhile.

Sounds like you are getting a handle on things, I am looking forward to hearing about your calorie density thing.

Thanks Rob, today's going better than yesterday. Recently got back from the grocery store and got apples, carrots, asparagus and broccoli for this week!
That's great that you are including all those fruits and veggies! Nice choices!

That's great :)
You do get used to tracking. It has taken me a week, but I'm getting better at it again.

Cheers for terrific broccoli - and carrots are brilliant, practically a weight-loss secret weapon - you can just pick them up and crunch them raw, whenever you're feeling like a snack. Really looking forward to the impact from this fruit and vegie buy-up! :)

Everyone is so excited about the vegetables :)

To be on-target, I would have had to be 239 today: That would have been a 6 pound loss in 4 weeks, starting from 245. That being said, I think I can make up the slack by next Monday...

Food: 1236 g
Drink: 12 oz (soda)
10 mins walking
1 whole carrot

Didn't have a proper lunch today, was starving all afternoon. Realized I was going to overshoot my 1100 g budget at dinner and kind of went overboard. Had a regular soda with dinner, too. Comparing my notes, yesterday I had a single large lunch and then made it all the way to dinner with just a small snack. I'll go for a larger lunch tomorrow and see if that helps.

"A whole carrot"!
That is funny.
Skipping a meal is definitely not a good idea for me either, nor is having a too small breakfast.

I overslept today so it looks like I'll be going without this morning and I hate it already. Yay for carrots!
