I love your colour coding! Go, green! :) And yes, I'm a vegetarian.

I don't usually get to a gym, but when I do, and am using the treadmill I usually just look at the distance walked, ie the numbers changing on the screen going up on the screen. On the rowing machine - no screen - I imagine rowing along a river I know, and think things like "Now I'm nearly up to the pedestrian bridge... only a little way to the boathouse corner..." :D

That's a nice approach! Our apartment machines have a "tour mode" where they display video of you riding through different paths around the world - they're actually really impressive.

Weight / Goal for today:

Weight: 237 lbs, 108 kg
Calories: --- / 1820
Exercise: --- / 30 minutes cardio machine

Doing the bike again today!

Update for today:

Jan 17, 2020
Weight: 237 lbs, 108 kg
Calories: 1792 / 1820
Exercise: 30 / 30 minutes cardio machine

Made both my goals today! I did subtract what I burnt on the machine from my calorie total - so maybe not the most accurate...

Don't trust those machines; they usually exaggerate calories burnt. I agree with eating back some exercise calories, especially on days they're over 700 or so, but eating back all of them would require very precise tracking.

:iagree: with LaMa. I only eat back some of my exercise cals on days where I know I have burned a lot of caps e.g. golf days

Interesting, I've always heard that they *underestimate* the calories burnt, because your metabolism stays elevated and gives you an "afterburn". But I will be cautious in subtracting exercise cals, I don't like the imprecision!

Weight, Goal for today

Jan 18, 2020
Weight: 236 lbs, 107 kg
Calories: --- / 1820
Exercise: --- / 20 mins walking

Just a walk planned today, nothing crazy. Was really happy to see "236.4" this morning!

Update for today:

Weight: 236 lbs, 107 kg
Calories: 1885 / 1820
Exercise: 5 / 20 mins walking

Slightly over on calories, really not too bad. Seriously under on walking. It's almost like it's easier to get myself to do the 30 mins of cardio (planned ahead of time) than the 20 minutes of walking, which should be trivial.

I've always heard that they *underestimate* the calories burnt, because your metabolism stays elevated and gives you an "afterburn".
It depends on the brand a bit (and on how much info you can give it) but most I've been on were pretty generous.

No, you were within estimation error of your goal. Hard to get much closer.
True... only about 2% off - didn't look at it that way!
Oh! 236 already! You're really roaring along! Go, you! :auto:
Thanks! I was stuck in the 240s for what seemed like forever, really happy to start to get away from them...

Weight / Goal for today:

Tomorrow I'll have to update my calorie goal to reflect the weight I've lost :)

Thanks, Cate! I noticed you have a step goal in your sig, what do you use to count your steps?

No mathyness here, Amy, have no idea what you're talking about *cough*...

My girlfriend and I went grocery shopping today and we came home with the following veggies: lettuce, spinach, tomato (one), brocolli, brussel sprouts, and celery. Yes multiple real-life vegetables. I probably won't eat the spinach but we'll definitely have a little variety this week :)

Haven't been here in a while--sounds like you are making really great progress. Nice weight loss, lots of good veggies! Good work!

Yay to the veggies!!!
I wear a Fitbit Charge 2 ( I think). It's a rough guide & I like it. I don't care if it's not 100% accurate. It's not like I'm a finely tuned athlete :D
Did I say yay to the veggies?
Yes!!!! :D

VEGGIES!!!:party::party: If you're "afraid" of spinach the easiest way to hide it is to roughly chop some and toss it into whatever you're cooking a minute before it's done. It'll wilt away into almost nothing. Cook it too long (>5 minutes or so) and it'll be bitter.

Haha everyone on here is definitely pro-veggie :)

Weight / goal for today:

Jan 21, 2020
Weight: 237 lbs, 107 kg
Calories: --- / 1780
Exercise: --- / 15 mins walking
Today's the first day in a new notebook! The old food/calorie log was completely filled :)
Lowering the calorie goal a bit to reflect that I've lost a few pounds, couldn't get MyFitnessPal to load so I just tweaked it down by 40 cals. Winter has definitely set in around these parts- would be nice find something indoors I could do to replace walking...

15 minutes of simple step exercises? Shouldn´t be too hard to find a low-impact beginners´ workout on Youtube.
Haha everyone on here is definitely pro-veggie
Absolutely! I think it´d be hard for anyone to lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off long-term without learning to love veggies. No better way to add volume and vitamins/minerals/fiber to a meal.
