Maryann's trail....Rotation Diet "version"....

Ahey MaryannC,
Sounds like you had a successful week to me by not gaining with all that eating out! Keep up your exercises and walking little Koko! I'm sure Koko is really enjoying the extra time with you! I heard that either Jeff or Ruus from fat2fit ate an apple a day and..that's a really good high fiber snack! I really enjoy all the fresh fruit in season here in China. Plums are going out right now, and pomegranates are coming in..not nearly as easy to eat, but they are packed with good nutrients. It has opened up my menu a lot by living here, and I'm sure I won't go back when we move back to the US.

Have a great week MaryAnnC and keep up the good work!

Sarah

Hi all , good day today - ate healthy, didn't track calories - but kept to healthy choices - so felt good about that.

~ did walk tonite with Koko & hubby ( maybe my health-efforts will inspire my better half-U never know).

~ Sarah - thankyou for the encouragement ( was most welcome to hear a kind word on my no-loss week ).... I picked some apples from the tree in our back-yard today - they are actually quite good ( Macintosh type) - hubby has asked for some apple crisp( I'll make for him) & will have mine plain, with a bit of cinnamon - nice snack. :seeya:(like Jeff/Russ-Fat2Fit).

~ also tried something else new today - found some weight-loss hypnotism downloads on-line today ( used by one of the biggest-loser contestants)- it comes as 12 x 20minute sessions- listened to the first 3 - very relaxing/calming...and actually just very sensible - basic suggestions - healthy eating , drink water , get proper rest , exercise ....will see if this helps support/reinforce healthy choices for me.

Hope everyone has a good week,

Maryann C. :)

Hi all,

good day for me today ( ? maybe that hypnosis down-load is making a difference? ) -

..feel calm , found a happy medium somewhere between stuffed and starving -

...calories - 1630 today,

and exercise - 1/2hr dog walk + 1hr mowing lawn.

Wishing all a good one.,

Maryann C. :hug2:

Hey MaryAnn,

Sounds like you have a great attitude and who knows if the hypnosis is working or just your determination to keep on the journey! Good job!

Sarah

Hi folks & Sarah -

...good week so far, I'm sticking to healthy foods , calories all under 2,000 daily budget , and have done walks/exercise daily ( including the weekend ).

- was out for supper with hubby last nite - & when waitress asked if I wanted fries or salad with my dinner - I said salad without even thinking (suprised myself .....all this "healthy" inspiration is kicking in..)

& yup Sarah - I am not sure if it is the hypnosis recordings, ( I don't normally believe in that "pyscho-babble" kind-of stuff either - had just thought it couldn't hurt ) .... or my determination, or it might just be all the positive vibes on this site & your very kind encouragement.... but so far , so good,

- my pants yesterday actually felt a bit looser....hmmm.....maybe ....maybe...something good is starting to happen here....

cheers all,

hope everyone having a good week,

Maryann C. :)

Happy Friday everyone !

..good week- (finally) - down 2 lbs. this week . :smash: - kicked 'em to the curb - yay !

...moderation worked for me this week - watched calorie count ( kept to 500cals below BMR ) & included daily exercise.

...next mission - get thru this long-weekend ( at lake with friends/family)-there will be lots junk food -

( I am bringing veggie tray & fresh fruit & lots bottle water - to be sure there are some 'healthy" choices there ) .

wishing all a good weekend,

Maryann C. ;

Congratulations MaryannC on kicking those 2 pounds to the curve!! Excellent...all those good choices 1 after another are paying off!! So very happy for you!

I'm betting little Koko is happy too...it means more walks for her! Enjoy your long weekend...and make good choices...enjoy yourself, keep a cold bottle of water and those fruits and veggies close and don't do anything to beat yourself up about afterwards and you'll be fine!

Keep up the good work!

Sarah

Hi All ,

just a post-weekend post ,

did ok - kept to 1 light-beer/day , and stuck to popcorn/ veggie tray for snacking , & did lots of walks with pooch Koko.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend ( was long-weekend here in Canada- Labour Day ...nice to have the xtra day off)...

now back to the old-grind tomorrow.... a fresh fall-week , with (hopefully) lots of good choices.

wishing a good week to all,

Maryann C> :) :auto:

AAaaakkkk ! ....Hi all, just want to share a "funny" I did at work yesterday.....been thinking too-much "healthy" lately....

~ they had Birthday cake at work yesterday for a gals birthday -,

when I was offered a piece , I said "no thanks" ( good , correct answer)....but then I went on to say how I was going to have my usual bowl of Shreddies with bran at home instead( this got a couple strange looks....I forget that not "everyone" in the world is trying to be healthy- .....it's just me & you great folks on this site et al.....

...anyway....then I further went on to tell them how these shreddies I found have just wheat/bran for ingredients, No added sugar, no salt , zip....just wheat & bran ...amazing....just 2 ingredients.....

~ anyways.....I hope they forget soon about my "shreddies" talk....*& I really have to work on "filtering" my "healthy"....only talk about it on here...definately not in a room-full of cake guzzling folks...... yoy...... :blush5:

Hello :) sounds likes you've been doing really well, congrats on the weight loss and for avoiding the demon Birthday cake!

AHey Maryannc!
Your shreddies talk sounds great to me...but like you said, not everyone is into healthy! Good job on the birthday cake choice...always awesome when we have those small victories! I'm really glad you're here on the site! You help me stay motivated and get me refocused...sometimes, I just get tired of being health conscious...doesn't happen often, but it does happen, and when I pop onto this site and see your fun posts, it helps! So let's continue this journey together!

Sarah

Hey Sarah, your posts inspire & motivate me too.....so absolutely -- let's both do this trip 'til we get to where we want to be !

~ I have days that I'm not so dedicated either...and the more "healthy" things we surround ourselves with in our lives ( eg. this web site)...the more likely we will be steered on our healthy trail....( but , hey, we are human - some "slack days" are just part of the deal eh? )...:svengo:...and life would be too dull if we were good all the time ;) ....

~ I'm just back from a nice walk with Koko....we met a big-dog ( scary for Koko-she's just a little poodle & got bit by a big dog a few years back...so we avoid the big ones)....we saw a guy swearing at his lawn-mower ( it kept stalling on him) & overall- just enjoyed the lovely fall evening - it was 25c & sunny here today( quite warm for Sept.) -

~ a nice image I want to share ( from those hoecky hypnosis recordings I have..... I know - I know- bit odd--- but if nothing else- they give me a 20minute re-charge of calm every day)....anyway- one image they say to envision is to picture yourself 10 years from now - and the 10year You is telling todays' you Thankyou ....thankyou for all the hard work to get slim & healthy - thankyou for all the hard work now - that led to the slim healthy you in 10 years....kind of nice picture eh?

....10 years from now - slim, fit, healthy - and have yourself to thank! ( this one really rang home with me...as am a bit nervous about my own annual physical next month....am so glad that I did start eating healthier/moving more....... might not be as far as I'd hoped...but definately am better than if I'd not started at all...

- as you said Sarah - day by day....not a race.....and enjoy the small victories ( my jeans did feel looser when I put them on last Friday... )

cheers all, keep up all our good work . !

Maryann

Hi Maryann, I like that concept of picturing yourself 10 years down the track & being grateful for making the changes to improve your health & outcomes. I’m going to take that on for myself. I am very grateful now for the changes I have made & must keep reminding myself of how far I have come. It’s hard looking around you at some of your friends (& family) who seem stuck in the unhealthy rut I used to be in, lacking self-esteem but unwilling or mentally unable to make any changes. It’s so hard not to say anything, for fear they will take offence. I have 2 sisters-in-law who are obese & struggling, but are super-sensitive. It hurts to see them like that. Hopefully they will find some inner strength, before it’s too late.

I will catch up with the rest of your diary in the next week Maryann, but just wanted to say hi & to offer my support & encouragement to you in your quest to improve your health & well-being. Every change we make, every choice we take, makes a difference.

Cheers, xo Cate

AHey Maryannc!
I like the idea too of projecting out 10 years...planning to continue good choices of my fitter thinner lifestyle, I should be retired from working in corporate job, hovering between 140 and 150 pounds and feeling normal about it, not on a perpetual diet! Sounds goo to me! Thanks for that booster!
Good job on walking with Koko..I'm sure your little poodle is enjoying all this extra attention and it's probably good for her too!
Cate is right, we have to do this journey for and by ourselves...no one can do it for us, and we can't do it for anyone else, no matter how much they need it...so we just continue on, helping each other and giving each other that little nudge of encouragement...and before we know it, another month has gone by and if we've made good choices, we're reaping what we sow!
Have a great weekend Maryann, and keep up the good work!
Sarah

Hi all , it's the weekend - yay !.. hope everyone is having a good week....

...Sarah & Kate & Naif - thx for the support & inspiration -

- Sarah - good work on the 2 lbs - another step closer to your goal - all your steady-hard work is paying off.... ! & fitting chinese-sizing clothes ....woo hoo !

- Kate -I like your term - stick-to-it-ness - ...it is a slow-steady job this healthy eating, exercising daily.......making these changes into daily habits...but well worth it. - thankyou for the encouragement, it does help in the good-choices, knowing others have done it & are cheering me on too ....

- & I totally relate to your concern for your family members who also struggle with weight - I work in a hospital- and deal daily with patients facing complications secondary to their obsesity - it is so hard - and part of my motivation too in my own current efforts to change my lifestyle - I fear for these problems myself, and also feel a bit hipocritical advising patients on healthy changes, when I'm not a very good example in my own lifestyle.

~ you ladies are such good examples that it can be done...just gotta keep plugging at it- day by day, choice by choice...

~ so here I go today - working for my 10yrs from now me ...... - had a healthy brekkie, now off to do some housework, treadmill, then me&Hubby are out tonite for cousins' Bday party- I plan to pick healthy choices at supper - (salad Not Fries !! ....lettuce good- /fat baaad !) :gnorsi:

happy weekend all,

Maryann C.

Hi all,

no loss this past week/weekend ( but there were a few nights -out) ...so am just happy didn't gain.( and considering there was a BBQ + left-overs, and 2 suppers out -that's ok I figure.)

~ am keeping up with the walking & calorie counting....hoping this week will be productive.

cheers , :hat:

Maryann :)

Hi all, ...well another week at status-quo ( no loss) ...but also no gain - so that's ok .

~ will try & increase exercise now for a bit ( don't really want to reduce calories more...will save that as next option)...

~ it's been a really nice fall week here - sunny , warm, have lots of yard-work planned for weekend ( burn those calories) ....

& bought cabbage-soup ingredients - will try that for lunch / supper ( I saw on a BBC Health docum. that home-made/ low sodium/low fat soups are a good way to fill up , get some veggies in , and feel fuller on less calories.... here's hoping ! :gnorsi:

cheers,

good weekend to all,

Maryann C.

AHey Maryanne, sorry I havnt stopped by lately, it's just been hectic at work and I havnt been on much. Don't get too frustrated about no loss(easier said than done, I know!). Like you said, no loss, but no gain! Keep making good choices, and eating less than your body needs and you are on the right track, up your exercise a little...it's amazing to me how fast our body adjusts to exercise! Keep up the good work and no matter what, stick with it...it's so worth it!!

Sarah

Hi Sarah - thankyou for the "perk up" post for me... it's muchly needed & appreciated :p

- did do my treadmill last nite - will try & make it a daily thing now,

- had a healthy brekkie today , wrote my weekend food plan last nite ( am thinking writing out my food/calories night before might be a good strategy to keep to my food plan...there's something powerful about writing it down- kindof like a promise to yourself....and I find too many choices/options for food lead me astray so easily .....)

- hang in with yur busy days at work Sarah - bet you are glad it's the weekend.....

- I noticed yesterday that the new hotel they are building across the road from my work will have a fittness centre ....I am thinking ,if they allow non-guest access/membership, - I might join & try to do some eliptical / weights - would be so handy- could just stop by there daily after work ... and would be a nice bit of variety/addition to my dog walks & my home tread-mill. ( I live in a very small town - no fittness club here....)

...well, off for a bit of a lazy Saturday morning, then outside to tackle yard-work , take Koko for a walk, and hit treadmill again tonite.

cheers all,

Maryann

Hi all - had good day today- thought I'd better type before I'm too pooped to post...lol

Good exercise day:

- 2 & 1/2 hrs yardwork, walked dog , and will finish tonite with treadmill in evening for a bit.

Good on food:

- stuck to menu plan ( it really worked for me to have the exact foods/amounts written out the night before- I didn't stray when hungry -stuck to list- just drank water/tea when tummy grumbled.)

- my cabbage soup is now simmering on the stove - smells great ( I picked some fresh parsley from my garden for it)....they are forecasting frost risk here tonite - so thought it would be nice to pick some, use in my soup, & freeze the rest to use later......

AAAND - for added excitement ...when I came into kitchen after I finished outside...I heard a buzzing sound....odd...???...what would be......OMG - a wasp squirming around on the kitchen floor ( I must have brought it in the house with the parsley)....stinker !!!! ......eeeekkk....must act quickly- realllly Don't wannna get bit......grabbed tea-towel-- & covered & squished him just in nick of time - he was already up on his feet & ready to fly.....:smash:

...SHeeesh.....too much excitement for this gal......

....ok - breath, calm ,...it's all ok now....yoy

.....time to go relax, and enjoy a nice bowl of homemade , healthy, veggie/cabbage soup.....mmmmmm ( and thank my stars I got that wasp before he got me.....yikes. )

happy choices all.....and beware those lurking little buggies in the garden.....

cheers, Maryann C.
