Marsia's Diary

Somehow most modern buildings look a lot better once nature starts to reclaim them.
I agree that freshly- cooked food is hard to resist, so good rhinking changing your planning there.

need to stop eating dinner with everyone.
One benefit of living alone is not being tempted to join in everyone else's food all the time!
I also need to just think of losing 10 pounds at a time - 30 feels too overwhelming, and I broke up this task last time I lost weight, which helped a lot.
Definitely--short-term goals always feel so much more manageable to me!

That walk sounds so fun with the abandoned structures!

Your walk sounds really interesting & challenging. I can't picture it being near where you live. Did you drive to get there?
If I could skip breakfast, without feeling very light-headed, that would be the meal I would skip on IF so that I could still eat dinner with G. Preparing their dinner at lunchtime sounds like a good plan though if that meal is the one you want to skip.
I have decided to concentrate on losing 4kg by my birthday in May. That should be doable but requires commitment. Surely we can do it, hon......

Sounds like you got some decent exercise in! Are you just packing up the knickknacks for storage or are you donating them?
Rain on trees is a glorious thing, with the soft ground soaking up the moisture as soon as it hits.

Loving the sound of all that stuff getting sorted and organized and eventually gotten rid of. I love clearing things out. And yes great idea to have others come buy it and do the work of hauling it off.

The garden sounds great too, as does the beautiful tall redwoods.

Yes hard to not get sucked into all the news. I find it all really aggravates my anxiety so try to really consciously limit it, but it's tough!
I found when i took those 10 days away from it all recently that I felt much better.
That's great that you were able to get the weight back down after it was trying to creep back up. Excellent to stay on top of it...
Your work around the house sounds great.

I got a big real chainsaw, and wow, does that thing cut like butter. I have to get a nice saw horse for cutting logs so it will be much safer using it, and I am getting some new steel toed boots because it's wonderful to use, but I really want to be as safe as possible with it.
Yes please, stay safe! I completely ignore as much of the news as I can. If I don´t I stress all day and don´t sleep at night.

Hi, Marsia. Do you wear chaps when you are chainsawing? Our son, D bought G some years ago as he was horrified that he didn't wear them. He's on his second pair now. I would hate to think of the damage his legs would have sustained without them.
We are really in a good position here in Tasmania. We had a brief lockdown last April(?) but it has not been anything like the rest of the world. I know how lucky we are. I was covid obsessed early last year & couldn't stop looking at all the new cases & deaths around the world. I had to stop.
I love how active you are :)

Marsia always lovely to read your updates . You sound a bit like me with your charts . I'm loving my lists . It does help . Eat naturally and healthy and the weight will happen.
Yes our politics are different now to a year ago . I try to listen to the news once a day as it's good to stay informed especially if I'm talking to people but other than that I need to not be reading it or watching it . Husband is addicted to news and current affairs .

Your gardening sounds great as always and I'm thinking of learning to use the chain saw as I just get husband to do that . I'm a bit scared of it . A yard sale would be ultra fun and a great way to get rid of stuff . Nice to keep a few bits . You sound happy and content . Keep it up

The combination of a fresh black eye and self-isolation is probably going to earn your husband some dirty looks... I hope you guys will all be ok and covid-free!

Oh, Marsia. I really hope no-one in your family has Covid.
I’m glad I mentioned the chaps. They will keep you much safer xo

Around here the recommendation is the fifth day after the possible infection, because that's how long it takes for the virus to start showing up in the test.

That sucks about the exposure, but you sound like you're taking an awesome positive approach to the whole thing--good thing you are feeling well stocked up in the house and you have good activity around there to keep you occupied too. I know i started to restock my place more as I was getting a bit slack on keeping up with it. I hope you all will test negative!

Is your pellet fire in addition to air-con, Marsia? G's sister & BIL have one & it doesn't seem anywhere near as warm as a wood heater.
I'm glad you don't have any C symptoms & hopefully don't have it so that you don't have to stay isolated.

It's wonderful to have a garden, Marsia. I always tell myself I'm going to start one but I never seem to get around to it. Maybe this year, Lord knows I have time. Any good tips or must haves? I've had luck with tomatoes & herbs in the past but I don't have much of a green thumb.

I am grocery-store adverse and had stocked up because I hate going during lockdown. We have enough food for quite a while
I did my big shop yesterday...slowly adding to my surplus foods so i will be as prepared as you if i should ever have to self-isolate!

Your pellet heater sounds like a really good one. Good for you getting your house nice & tidy in case you have to go into isolation.
