i know that calorie counting is much better then thinking about carbs.
the only thing i need to figure out is how to control myself during the friday to sunday...
 
Just tell yourself that you're worth it! Simply eat good natural wholesome foods - cut the calories where they come with foods that offer you little nutrition - you know what they are! However - its about control - don't be afraid to allow yourself some small treats. We keep a bar of dark chocolate in the fridge - a few squares a day are one of our treats.
 
Mandy, your daily calorie intake should be between 1200-1400 calories a day. The weekends are probably really hard because you actually have the time to think 'Oh my gosh I'm so freakin' hungry'. I use fitday.com everyday to make sure that I'm eating the right amount of calories---I love the days when I find that I have to eat MORE to make it to 1200 calories. Anyway, during the weekend try to have easy snacks around to help control the munchies. Mott's and Dole have great fruit cups that are about 100 calories each and are freakin' yummy as heck! Also, you can eat 16 regular sized tortilla chips and a .5 cup of salsa for about 200 calories--crunchie and yummy! Weight watchers is making the most amazing fudgsical bars that are only 60 calories each *shudders with delight*.

I've pretty much eliminated all the 'white' foods out of my diet because they are the 'bad' carbs--other than that I don't worry about carbs. As long as my calories are in check and I'm exercising--the weight comes off.

Anyway, you can do it!! Keep up the good work!
 
Mandy the weekends are killer for most of us. Just sitting a home with the ice box talking to us. I try to get out to get my mind off of it but they put up some kind of yummie hamburger or ice cream shop on every corner lol.......
It's an adjustment and the calorie counting really help out when you memorize what is in some of those fast food places.
 
Yeah, its pretty hard. I find i'm also pretty unstable with my emotions and turn to food, i need to prevent that and keep myself busy if i dont feel like going out i've gotta stay away from the food. Go for a walk, update stuff on the internet, or sleep....just dont eat. I need to tell my self that its only going to statisfy me for a few minutes and thats it and then here we go again i will regret eating that i just ate and become depressed about it and probably eat more, its the same thing over and over...
 
Just come on here; we love to motivate and kick some butt when it comes to munchies...believe me, it's helped me out many a quiet evening! If you're bored and got the munchies, it helps to talk to someone. Do you have someone to call? If not, let me know, I can give you my IM address:)
 
Emotional eating is something I have always done. It was always sweets but it would just depend. If i was mad it was ice cream. Upon thinking on it I was angry a lot in those days. Then it was the constant cokes and OMG chocolate. So your not alone. I think thats why I'm on here so much, It keeps me busy and since many others seem to go through the same thing in one way or another, I think thats why my weight is finally coming off. It just helps to talk....... or type as the case may be.......:D
 
Yes i guess your right...when i feel like wanna eat for no reason, i just just log on and get some help
 
I trying to figure out why I'm eating - usually boredum or anger, it's rarely comes up as yes... hungry. Hang in there, learning new habits can be hard. Redirect yourself, come on here and remind yourself why. It'll be ok. :)
 
Monday

Well its 1AM in Montreal, can't sleep been thinking alot...Hopefully i will be able to wake up early enought to do some type of workout...
So i've started my plan last tuesday everything went well untill friday hit and then saturday and sunday didnt do any better. I'm not happy about my eating habits this weekend but hey what can i do? Its a new week and I WILL DO BETTER! I just need motivation at times.

So todays meal plan is:
Strawberries + yogurt + 1/2 banana = 150
bake potato + chicken = 275
jello = 5
not sure what i'm going to have for diner it will be around 300
2 pickels = 10
grapes = 100
smoothie = 160

I have a ringette game tonight (ringettes is like hockey) So that will be my workout. I might take a walk before the game if i have time.
 
You know what... don't feel bad if you have an off day or 3 :D
It's going to happen, but we need to learn to pick ourselves up and keep at it!
I used to be an all or nothing gal. I'd mess up once and throw my hands up and just give up on losing weight.
Not anymore though.

Anywho...
DERNIT! Those are some things I forgot today! rofl.. I really wanted to get some yogurt and pudding (the low fat or sugar.. whatever it is stuff heh)...

Well ended up going to bed around 1h45am, I’m kinda tired at work right now, I would love to be in my bed. But who wouldn’t on a Monday.

So for sure we all make mistakes about our eating habits once in a while, but it shouldn’t be 3 days in a row. One day is acceptable more then that is unacceptable. Well I’m not going let it happen again, I will turn to all of you if I ever get an urge. Frig I gained 3 pounds during these 3 days!

There’s this really good ice cream I should go buy, its called SO GOOD, its less then 100cals for a cup barely any sugar, its made out of soy, you add some fruits to that and it makes a great desert.
 
So i was thinking, today i shouldnt have any complex carbs. Diner i've decided to have a salad with pork. so that should come up to 300cals
 
How many calories do nuts have?

I have about 20 almonds i believe they were a bit salted & about 20 cashues

i know i'm under my calories, but i rather keep some on the side just incase for example i have a ringette game tonight 9h30 to 10h30 so for sure i will be hungry after that.

I have a question about alcohol. We will say you calculate your alcohol intake within your daily calorie intake is it ok to consume we will say a beer or two?
 
Let's see.... you got a meat some veggies a milk product and those nuts for those yummie good oils.... yup looks pretty good.

That's how I do it If I want a beer. Just remember the calories in a beer are close to something like a coke. Also I have heard your body will burn the alcohol before it does the food in your belly and if you have alot it will burn that and leave the food for storage. So the short answer is always in moderation except on a cheat day..........
 
Hi mandy!!

Hope you're doing well.

Reading your diary, I couldn't help noticing that we are very similar in age, height, weight, and the amount of weight we want to lose!! I'm 21, 5ft5 and trying to get down from 168lbs (i piled it on when i went to uni!!) ideally to my happy weight of 125-130lbs.

I'm doing well so far, my jeans are starting to feel a little looser, but I'm still impatient for more!! Its good coz it keeps me on track :) (I've got a diary +a thread in the newbie thing :) Hope you are starting to see brill results too, let me know!

ps- nuts are good and contain lots of your essential oils etc, but just be a bit careful if you're counting your calories coz they have LOTS!!!
 
Hey kezzypear thanks for the message. I've just started last week...did good untill friday came. So its a new week has started. Its great to have someone around the same age as you that is going for the same goal.

I'm so happy i did so well today. Except my ringette game was canceled. so i didnt get a chance to workout.

I cant write anymore i'm going to fall asleep
