Here is what i have thus far.:waving:

I am 5'2" and weigh 151 pounds. I carry it well... but i do not feel healthy. (picture attached)

Here is my goal.

By Christmas Eve I would like to be down to 125 pounds. Here is how i will do this

Eating Habits: less premade food from the freezer section, cut back on carbs ( boy do i love them!), not eating heavy meals late in the evening. Understanding that although my skinny mini bf can eat anything and everything.... i CANNOT do that.

Exercise: before i would go to the gym if i was lucky once a month.... I am (as of last week) going at least 5 times a week. Last week i went 6! I am doing a mix of cardio and weight training. Abdominal work is one thing i am busting my butt on due to my newly formed love handles.

motivation: bf def is a big one, also this site is wonderful, and i have a biggest loser group i joined at work, and we do inches measurements every wednesday morning (AHHHH TODAY!!) Here are my starting measurements and then i will be on later to tell the news on if anything has changed since last week.

(inches)
neck- 13.5
upper stomach- 31
lower stomach- 34.5
rear end- 42
upper thighs- 23.5
lower thighs- 17.5
calves- 15
upper arms- 12
bust- 34.5

Here I am at the start of my working out ( about 2 weeks in)

I checked to see if you made a journal and here ya are :) Looking forward to talking with you so glad you did. Looks like you have a very good and realistic plan. You should reach your goal in no time. Hope you're havin a good day, talk to you soon ~Lisa

Thanks Lisa!!!! I have been keeping a log through out the day of what i eat and how i am doing on paper so i can see it here in front of me and also post it online! I also weighed myself this morning and i weighed 148!!!

whoo whoo. Now i do tend to fluctuate a few pounds... if i get to 145... ill know i am totally making some progress!

Thanks for encouragement. all the info on here has been amazing and I LOVE checking this each day.

Melissa

Hey Melissa, that is so awesome on the pounds you've lost already! Nothing like results for motivation eh? lol You might have seen this already and it may or may not be for you but just in case have you checked out fitday yet? It's free and you can plug in what you ate and it calculates the calories, carbs, fats, etc. for you and even has a little pie chart. It keeps it so you can backtrack and look. Sometimes you have to tweek it a bit if you can't find something but it gives you a place to add in foods too. Like I ate at a restaurant the other day and had the nutritional info and plugged it right in. Sparkpeople I guess has the same stuff too and is free but haven't used it as much. Anyway just making sure you have access to any tools you may want to try, no pressure :) I just figure anything that makes this easier is good. Keep up the good work and talk to you soon ~Lisa

I need some encouragement today guys!!!! :(

alright. Well i am off to the gym here in about 30 minutes. Yesterday i took a day off. I had gone to the gym Tuesday through Friday, took saturday off, and now i start my work out week again!

I am not gonna lie: I am starting to feel a bit frustrated. One of my downfalls in life is that i am impatient. I know that change in how i look and feel takes time.... but i just wish i could see a difference. when i weigh myself i see it fluctuate. 151-149-151-148-159 its hard then for me to get excited!!!! I am measureing inches too so im sure that will help once i see the measurements start to drop.....

I NEED SOME ENCOURAGEMENT TODAY GUYS!!!! :( I will check in after my work out... maybe things will look brighter then. I know working out keeps my mood up and my energy high. Maybe im just having a down day.

thanks for checking in....

If there is not much change in your weight, try counting how many calories you are eating...you might be eating the right stuff, but too much of it, and that might cause you to stay the same weight

what i find hard about counting calories is that if i grab somthing at work... an apple, some coffee, etc... how do i know how many calories are on there... they dont come with a nutrition label you know? Id love to know a better way. Someone mentioned a website to go to... but half the stuff i ate that day i tried to count my calories, wasnt even on there!!!

feeling good today!

So i am feeling very energized today. I was speaking with someone about my frustration with the scale. I decided i need to stop weighing myself EVERY DAY. The problem with that is i have a total meltdown if i fluctuate 2 pds. i need to concentrate on eating right, exercising, and being positive. The scale is not helping me with that!

I am going to continue my measurements though. This will be a good gage for me i think!

Anyhow, went the the gym last night and busted my butt through my cardio training. it was a GREAT workout! Ive been going on the before and after threads and they are SUCH great encouragement to me! thank you to all who have been so dedicated and successful! congrats and thank you for the inspiration!

question for those of you who have had significant success..... how long does it take to start seeing some changes in your body? I have been consistent with working out 5-6 times a week for two full weeks and i am starting my third. Just curious when to expect to feel and see a change! i know each body is different just wondering!

Thanks!!!! i will check in tomorrow after i get my measurements taken!

Hi there M~Marie
I would kill (okay not really! LOL) to be where your at right now.
Isn't it funny that no matter how we see ourselves there is always someone out there who would love to be in our shoes.
I think it is great that you are trying to get yourself into better shape.
What exactly are you doing at the gym to try and lose weight/tone up?
I take a class thats called PowerCore. It is all about building up your core muscles, which in turns strengthens you all over. Making you look slimmer without the need for a huge weight loss.
As for your "love handles" you could try lots of different things.
Just make sure that you are targeting your obliques. Muscles along the side of your body.
You could use a resistance ball. By laying on the floor like your going to do sit-ups you put the ball between your ankles and then lift it towards your head while doing crunches towards the ball. This mostly tagets the abs.
Also if you can sit in boat position (here's a link if you don't know what it is ) and use the resistance ball again. Except this time you are going to take the ball in your hands, stretching it out in front of you and reach side to side with it.
You definately will feel like you did something tomorrow if you try either one of those! LOL
I personally like to sit on an inclined bench with my legs hooked over the end and have someone stand on a bench in front of me. While they are standing they throw a medicine ball to me. As I catch it I lean back with the momentum a bit and then toss it back to them. You can do this straight on and side to side.
Any which way you look at it, you look great already!!!!
With a bit of toning you will be Fab~tab~u~lous!!!!!

thank you soo soo much for all your kind words! those are great exercises for my "love handles"! Some ive used but most i am thrilled to try out tonight!!! I really appreciate the advice!

right now this is my typical gym routine:
30 minutes on an "eliptical like machine". always forget the name of it but it burns 350 calories in that 30 minute time frame so it kicks my butt!
Then i do 30 minutes worth of weight machines.... some free weights as i learn good routines... but mostly leg machines and arm weights.
i also spend about 20 minutes doing bicycle crunches, side bends with weights, and incline situps. I use the ball sometimes between my claves for those crunches you were referring to.

Any advice on how i can step it up? Also, how long is ideal daily to melt fat through cardio? Is 30 minutes 5 times a week good enough or should i increase this?

THANKS!!!

Sounds to me like you got a pretty good plan going on. As for how much you work out that would totally be up to you. I found that when I was working out 4 days a week ( I work Fri-Sat-Sun so no working out on those days) I personally was burning myself out.
But now that I have backed it back down to just the one class twice a week, with walks in between I am seeing results again.
Good Luck!
Ciao!

So this morning was tape measure day

I was pleased to see that i am doing quite well! Since last week most areas stay the same... maybe went down half an inch or so... BUT....

MY REAR END SHRANK!!!!!!!!! WHOOT WHOOT!!! :blush5:

I am still feeling wonderful right now about myself and am totally pumped to keep up the hard work. I am working on my third week of intense exercise and healthy eating and i am feeling the affects.... gotta not give up!!

How WONDERFUL is it to have someone tell you that they notice your waist looking awfully slim these days? :) its such a good motivation to keep going!!

Tonights project: Make a kickin' work out mix to run to!!! :)

ohhh! And normally i work out on the machine at the gym and burn about 320-340 calories on there in a half hour. Last night... burned 372!!!

Just a little update!! :)

Now that is what I am talking about!!!!
:hurray::hurray:
Here's to a smaller rear end :cheers2:root beer if you please:cheers2:
Way to go girl!
I love it when people start noticing that you are slimmin' down and the comments start rolling on in.
Always keeps me motivated.

isnt it funny though how when you take a day off and eat maybe questionable foods....

you feel GINORMOUS

ugh... mind games are silly!!!:ack2:

M-
I hate these mind games. It has gotten easier but still not as easy as i hoped. I dont feel guilty when i eat a bad food but i do have to remind myself that eating it cant become a habit.

Great work on the measurements and keep up the good work.

Matt
