LyMElyte's Diary

Well.... here goes nothing. The more I read the more information I take in the more "confusing" this whole weight loss things gets. I'm a wife and mother of 2 ~ I love them dearly but I let them become my excuse. No longer! So again I say... here goes nothing.

I'm starting to keep a JOURNAL today of what I eat... The truth hurts! And in this case, it's probably going to be like a knife. I haven't been grocery shopping yet so for the next few days until I do, it really wont be pretty. But one of my main goals is working on PORTIONS as well. :(

I chose the holiday time because if I can remain FOCUSED during Christmas, I can do it all year long. Realistically, if I loose 1-2 lbs a week, by Memorial Day (big trip that weekend), I could shed anywhere from 22 - 44 lbs! I deserve it just as much as anyone else! So again... here goes nothing.

Goal #1 - drop 10-15 lbs by the end of January
Goal #2 - track food intake to figure out how I need to manipulate my eating habits.
Goal #3 - 150-200 abdominal excersies a day.
Gaol #4 - physical activity AT LEAST 6 times a week.
Goal #5 - TRACK TRACK TRACK EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

Here is what I have eaten so far today:

Wheat Chex Mix Cereal w/ Skim Milk (200)
Bologna on Potatoe Bread w/ Mustard (380)
Beef Ramen Noodles (380)
Grapes (110)

Total thus Far - 1070

 Just being honest, right?! This was before I decided to start today. LOL  Go figure! AND we have a Christmas Eve Family Dinner! LOL - I swear we eat for EVERYTHING. LOL

O well... at least I did a 1.5 mile walk away the pounds. Thats good for a Sunday! LOL

I dont expect "great" things for the next two days... but I wont act a FOOL. LOL

Oooh... Tracking your actual food intake is rough, I know. I couldn't bear to do it for many, many years. I tried, but I was always embarrassed that someone would read it, and even looking back over it myself was almost shameful.

Congrats on taking a big, tough step in the right direction, lymelyte; I still have a hard time writing it down if I cheat. I'm not even going to try over Xmas dinner, my family is starting off the day with Belgian Waffles and tons of cornmeal pancakes; it's my kryptonite.

Wish me luck, and I'll be ready to scold you (if you want it) after dinner! ;) ~QJ

Bring it on!

I'm proud of myself..... Dinner was not bad at ALL! I was determined to take small portions ~ my husband seems to think that it will steer me in the right direction quickly ~ of course he's 6'3 200 lbs ~ and has the metabolism of a 4 yo. LOL :p

That being said.. here goes Christmas Eve dinner:

*Not even HALF of a cornish hen (baked of course)
*Parsley potatoes
*Salad that I tried to O.D.'d on purposely (lettuce, cucmbers, tomatoes, cheese)
*Rum & Coke

Now I have NO CLUE how many calories all this stuff was because I didnt cook it right...?! But after doing my mypryamidtracker it says I totaled 2111 calories for the day (again, my portion measurements could be wrong so it could be more...) but whatever the case, I'm proud of my self for not OVEREATING. And staying up till 1 a.m. I didnt SNACK! Go ME! :D

Now for breakfast today hee hee hee

*Homemade french toast by the hubby on potato bread (gotta get some wheat or whole grain) (160) **sidenote: Do I count the egg that he uses b/c he dilutes mine SUBSTANTIALLY as I can't stand them ... I think I'm mentally allergic to them SERIOUSLY!!!!
*Compilation of meat (1 bacon, 2 really really small sausages, 1 very small piece of kielbasa as my 2 yr old ate it all which I love him for!) (257)
*Skim Milk (90)
*Syrup of course!! :p (100)

So I think I'm looking at like 607 calories - way too much for a breakfast but it is the most important meal of the day right?

Now Christmas Dinner... get the *** kickin boots out now - we're having FRIED TURKEY, HAM, AND SOME MO STUFF!!!

Good job starting the process! It takes time, and some effort, especially when you look back and thing, "man, did I really eat ALL that??" But it does get easier, I think.

Good luck!

Well Christmas day went pretty good! Very proud of myself. We visited my father's house and my brother-in-laws. That was about 2:30 ish so that was my lunch :p What did I eat.....

*Smoked turkey (my daddy makes the best) I literally only ate 2 THIN SMALL slivers...
*3 pieces of ham - very thin as well...
*Scoop of mac-n-cheese
*Scoop of potatoe casserole
*Big spoonful of AMAZING KALE GREENS THAT I must get the receipe for!
*2 rolls that were to die for! ;)

WHO THE HECK knows how many calories all that was.... OH and I had a soda which I RARELY drink. So I am very proud of myself.....

When we got to my brother-in-law's house.... I was sooooo upset that we didnt eat until like 9:00 talk about UPSET. Whatever the case, there was an ERROR with the fried turkey so I didnt get my normal wing (thank God)!

*Fried turkey I literally only ate 2 THIN SMALL slivers AGAIN - GO ME!
*2 pieces of ham - my weakness is ham!
*small spoonful of stuffing with gravy
*Big spoonful of collard greens
*1 small roll - almost got 2. :p
*RUM & COKE - YEAH BABY! :D

And now on to today..... attempting to recover from the lack of sleep (2 kids, 6 and 2 going to bed at 2:30 a.m. CHRISTMAS morning and getting up at 6 a.m. to my daddy playing Santa clause for my kids and then no NAPs is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry draining).... I did very well today I think :D

Breakfast
*1.5 cups of Cherrios
*1 cup of skim milk

Snack before hitting the malls
*2 yoplait yogurts

Lunch
*Chickfila - LOL sandmich :D , yes I had the fries and a sweet tea

Dinner
*Muffin cup sized TURKEY meatloaf (very proud of myself for making 2 meals - regular beef for the fam, and turkey for me ~ my husband DESPISES (sp?) turkey meat)
*Fresh collard greens - large helping
*Small helping of instant mashed ta-tatoes (as my 2 yr old says it)...

Like I said, I do the 1/2 of plate of veggies, 1/4 plate of meat, 1/4 plate of starch. AND I'M NOT HUNGRY WHICH IS GREAT!!!

I'm currently having a sweet tooth craving and realize I should have gotten some frozen yogart when I was at the grocery store, but if it doesnt pass soon, I'll grab some fruit!

I've also come to realization that I dont know if I like entering stuff on the mypryamid.org..... I'm off to look at fit.com (I think thats where everyone is directing people too....

I may have to do BOTH!

Oh yeah.... forgot to annotate my physical activity .....UHM...ERR...UHM...

None... OKAY I'm done

**running away**

**running back**

After logging information into fitday.com I realized I DID do physical activity. I cleaned both levels of my house today to include the bathrooms and the stairs AND I went to the mall and shopped for like 3 hours!

I really like the positive attitude you have! You look like you are having fun paying attention to what you are doing, and seem to be learning enthusiastically, too!
Keep that attitude going, it really helps!

**Another side note: I ordered my KICKBOXING FOR DUMMIES DVD**

Well I’m OUT FOR TONIGHT… I think…

Wait a minute… I did do some additional exercises last night : BUNS & THIGHS PILATES … hopefully after Dance practice I’ll get to do it again. Alright, I’m done!

Slacking already but time to pick up the pieces...

Well as you can see, I didnt get a chance to log on and post what I consumed for a few days. But thats life right? I did monitor severly what I ate and my husband even noticed. My body is getting itself on the every 3 hour kick, which is great.

I'm going to have my husband measure all my body parts today, I'm going to go buy my scale, going grocery shopping! Man its on and poppin today! I'm really excited about what 2007 will bring!

So until tomorrow ~ I CAN'T BELIEVE IT WILL BE JAN 1, 2007.....

oooOOOooo, fancy!

You mentioned replacing sugar with Splenda, and I agree completely and recommend it wholeheartedly! I love Splenda, and I have a hard time getting by without it in my foods that require sweetening. I will use honey fairly regularly, as well, but there is just NO replacement for honey, so I use it sparingly and will often use Splenda to reduce the amount of honey needed for sweetening.
When you get to the "need food every three hours" stage, you have to be even more careful of what you eat, so keep lots of healthy, PRE-MEASURED snacks around. Easy stuff like nuts or jerky really work for me, but even a premeasured snack like something sweet or carbohydrate heavy (chips?) can be all right, because you are measuring your intake and portioning.
Just make sure to stick with one snack at a time, it can be tough.

Keep up the good work!

Jan 1, 2007 and Jan 2, 2007

My morning ... well afternoon started fairly well. It was HARD to turn down the breakfast my husband made... but I did. I settled for a cup of grits, 3 slices of bacon (I WILL SUBSTITUTE MY TURKEY BACON FOR REGULAR ONE DAY), and a slice of toast. I know it was WAY to many carbs, but hey one thing at a time, right!? :p

So that was bout 11:30 a.m. that we ate breakfast, go figure, and then I had a yogart for snack **go me**. Unforrrrrrrrrtunately, I didnt get to eat anything else until dinner which was HORRIBLE for those who are trying to loose weight..... but I'm very proud of myself for not overeating, for not piling up my plate, for actually LISTENING to my body.

New Years Dinner is a big thing for our family. We had the usual, fried turkey - - I only at my wing WITHOUT the leg, I made the potatoe casserole which I used reduced fat cream cheese, and then black eyed peas of course - which I ate a lot of them since I know I needed the fiber. And I couldnt pass up the rolls. LOL :D

The only other downside is that we did toasting with sparkling cider. I refused to look at the label. LOL

So if it wasnt on and poppin on New Years' it definitely was TODAY.

Thanks to the Late President Ford, I didnt have to go to work today **go Federal Gov't** I am very proud of myself. I got up this morning, had my bowl of cheerios with a banana and skim milk - 7 a.m. I had my lite yoplait yogart, 10 a.m. and had to drink water like it was leaving this earth (32 oz this morning). At 12:30 I had a cup of black eyed peas - I'm glad that crockpot that I cooked was OFF THE CHAIN, it made them much easier to eat :D and not "feen" for meat (Yeah, I'm one of those....). So now its 3:30 and I'm typing to you :p I need to have my snack, and since I'm at home, I'm going to look up a few things to see what I should have (after I plug in everything I ate).

For dinner, again, proud of myself, I made italian sausage with TONS of red & green peppers and onions. And the kicker **you ready?** I MADE 2 POTS! One for my husband and kids (with the pork that smelled AWESOME when I cooked it) and one pot with TURKEY italian sausage for me :D

Oh yeah - I did my kickboxing this morning too! I usually weight lift at work (but the base is closed) so I may have to do a few lil' exercises tonight.

I'm going to finish up my water of course...** I think I need to increase my water intake to more than 64 oz** and figure out what my night snack may be .... maybe some fruit popsicles with my babies...

Hiya, just read your diary, im glad to see you repeatedly say 'your proud of yourself' :D :D  Sounds like your doing great, small changes are the best way to go

Have a great day/evening

Lyme- Sounds like you're doing great! Congrats!!!

I use fitday too. May I recommend the website dietfacts.com as well. Dietfacts has a lot more foods than fitday does and when you find the nutritional info on dietfacts there is a button you can use to import the information into your fitday account. Super handy.

These two sections of your post really made me want to give you Kudos! It's great to see how well you are working around your difficulties, and that you are willing to "let go" upon occasion and just relax and enjoy the moment, like your NYE toast with the sparking cider.

Keep up the good work!

Sounds like your doing great, congradulations...Im a mommy too, I know how hard it can be to care for yourself and selfishly do something you want and need to do...It is so easy to put ourselves last all the time and so hard to try to put ourselves first...

January 3rd and the beginning of the 4th

FIRST OF ALL ITS SO GOOD TO LOG ON AND SEE THAT SOMEONE IS PRAISING YOU AND PUSHING YOU ALONG THE WAY. ITS LIKE KNOWING HOW MANY INCHES YOU'VE LOST OR SEEING THE SCALE MOVE, IT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH IS ALL WORTH IT! :D

Yesterday was a hard day, but only b/c I got a headache. :( I'm not sure what went wrong whether I didnt eat enough calories by a certain time period or if it was b/c my body was sugar crazed. I ate a fruit popsicle hoping that would help. Nope! Took some Excederine, but nope. I felt the need to eat some gummy bears that were in the house so I did ~ under 1 serving. Now I know they are GONE - LOL. ;) But whats great is that I dont FEEL horrible about doing it. Shoot the headache went away! LOL

I tried a new recipe (an easy chicken pot pie) that I need to go back and accurately calculate the calories per serving. It was THE BOMB and my family loved it which is a TRIPLE DIPPLE PLUS!

But I'm doing very well staying within my 1200-1500 calories so I'm extremely proud! So what did I have?

Breakfast
Cheerios, skim milk, banana

Snack
Tblsp of Natural Peanut Butter
Cheerios

Lunch
Cup of black eyed peas
1/2 green apple
1 tblsp of lite chive and onion cream cheese
3 pieces of oscar meyer honey ham

Snack
Breyers No Sugar Added Pure Fruit Bar, 1 serving
Gummy bears
**I wanted a COOKIE from the holidays, I think I need to throw those away**
Second Breyers No Sugar Added Pure Fruit Bar before I went to dance practice

Dinner
Chicken pot pie ~ it had chicken breast, brocolli, cauliflower, 98% reduced fat cream of chichken soup, and bisquick!

And that bring us to today!!! I'm so proud of myself. I got up with my husband and did 2 miles of my 3 mile walk away the lbs. I REALLY want a heart monitor to calculate how many calories I burn doing that so I can accurately account for it. For breakfast - again, a GREAT ONE!

Breakfast
TURKEY BACON BLT (4 slices of turkey bacon from the oven, wheat bread, HAD TO HAVE MY 2% SLICE OF CHEESE, lettuce, 2 slices of tomato, and lite hellmans mayo (I need to cancel out some calories with these some where...)

Snack
Yoplait 4 oz Strawberry Yogart

... and that brings me to now. I have a dilemma in that I was going to do a burrito, but I realized all we have is flour burritos at home and I dont LIKE the nutritional factor on that... but I'm going to use black beans, maybe fat-free refried beans, whole kernel corn, shredded cheese, reduced fat sour cream and maybe some salsa.... I CANT WAIT! :D

Lunch and Dinner 4 Jan 2006

Alright - so when I got home to eat, I said go for it! :D I made my burrito and it was "like that!":p

Flour tortilla - going to try to get some wheat joints
1/2 cup of black beans
1/2 cup of corn (had the wrong kind at home, too much sugar in the sweet corn, oh well)
1/4 cup of 2% shredded cheddar cheese
2 tblsp of reduced fat sour cream - going to get some plain yogart this weekend

MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN it was so good! And to think I can only MAKE it better. I'm a big "meat person". So I'm very proud of myself for eating a vegetarian style dish. I'm even going to have it tomorrow :D with some modifications.

Dinner was a repeat of last night (leftover night). And my pot pie tasted better than ever. I just need to get a count on how many calories it really is. Oh well, I know that I only ate like 1.5 cups of it. It was enough to fit on a small dessert plate so I know I did good.

I'm just so proud of myself! And guess what ~ I got on the scale today ~ time to UPDATE MY TICKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 :p :D  :)
