LyMElyte's Diary

Where the heck do I start. :( As you can see, if you keep up with my journal, I slacked HARD from Friday through Monday. I just thank God I have the motivation and determination to pick up and keep going. :D

My slack-ation came from the fact that (1) it was my husbands birthday, (2) we had 2 birthday parties on Saturday, (3) we had another birthday on Sunday, and (4) we had ANOTHER birthday on Monday!

I tried really hard to do very well KNOWING that I was going to be faced with a few challenges. It wasn’t the best that I could have been ~ and thus I know willpower is something I need to work on substantially. Glory be to God, I still lost a pound!

So let’s get back on track with today!

Breakfast
I need to find some GREAT smoothie recipes, b/c mine are bland which makes me add honey to them which adds too many calories. **Side note: all suggestions are welcomed but you must include WHERE I can get the products from. End side note**

My smoothie had ½ cup of nonfat plain yogurt, 1 cup of skim milk (started out with ½ a cup but it got to thick), 1 cup of pears (had to use some canned joints), ½ cup of frozen blueberries (unsweetened), and a few cubes of ice.

Snack
Yogurt as usual, 4 oz of light peach

Lunch
I’m really falling in love with black bean dishes. **Side note again: all suggestions are welcomed. End side note**

I had one of my low carb, low fat soft tortillas with ½ cup of black beans, ½ cup of corn (if that much), a lil bit of my plain yogart and salsa mix, ¼ cup of 2% shredded cheese, with some baby carrots. Talk about yummy yummy to my tummy! **Side note: I used to HATE carrots with a passion. I guess when you want to achieve something you suck it up! End side note**

Snack
Right before I went to the gym, I had my Keeblers toasted wheat crackers which I love and an oz of Frigo mozzarella.

Dinner
So I had planned on making this craft recipe with red potatoes and ham. But my daughter had a PTA function at school and I refused to cut my workout short. So I was strapped for time! So they had leftovers from the party… but what about me (I realized I didn’t do a great job grocery shopping probably b/c it was on Friday and I didn’t want my fresh produce to go to waste so I didn’t buy it and now I aint got half of the crap that I need). Well I pulled out my box of Boca Burgers – OH YEAH – and had 2 patties since they are only 90 calories each, put that on a Thomas 100 calorie English muffin, with mustard, 2% American sliced cheese (gotta have my cheese man), and I did like ½ a bag of fresh spinach with garlic (which is a weakness for me). MANNNNNNNNNNNN can you say full. I drank my water with lemon and called it a NIGHT.

Needless to say BOCA EVERYTHING will be in my freezer relatively soon! LOL

Now for my exercise…..

I began my morning doing my 2 mile walk away the lbs (which I think I’m going to get more of them). I think I’m going to try to do this every morning. Today (evening) was supposed to be a strength training day (triceps, shoulders and chest), but being pressed for time, I had to make due. So I got on the treadmill, warmed up at 3.0 mph for 3 minutes and then RAN! Yes I said RAN, the past tense of RUN….for 15 solid minutes at a rate of 4.8 mph, then hiked it up to 5.0 mph for 1 minute, then walked at 3.0 mph again for 3 minutes, then ran for the remainder of my 30 minutes, hiking my last minute up to 5.0 mph again. TALK ABOUT WAY TO GO!

So I’m back on track mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! And almost at my first goal of 10 lbs by February 1st! Gotta get back on my 100 crunches a day and keep it MOVING!

Sweet! Looks like you pulled out of your slump very nicely! Have you considered Splenda instead of honey? Or even using a mixture of Splenda and honey? If you need sweet, finding some non caloric way of providing it is not a bad idea, and I understand completely about the smoothie recipes needing a flavor boost. At least it isn't slimfast, right?

Will try it next time. I bought some frozen peaches to try again. LOL - slimfast - ewww...

I kinda liked slimfast, but I didn't use it as directed; I just kept a few cans of it rattling around in the trunk of my car for if I got hungry, and it kept me from suffering too badly when I got the munchies.
Not that I recommend it, but it still wasn't too foul, especially the strawberry stuff.

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Well today wasn’t a GREAT day, but I’ll take it! LOL

I started out my morning kind of good. I’ve continuously had this strong desire to add oatmeal to my breakfast choices. But the instant oatmeal’s made me feel sick to my stomach. So I bought some regular old ‘ole fashion’ oatmeal (not to mention my husband wanted some so he was thrilled). Man… just like the ole days! I had to add margarine and brown sugar like my momma used to do… but it was a sacrifice that I had to take. LOL I went out and bought my Splenda Brown Sugar and I have my Smart Balance so we’ll see how it works tomorrow.

I woke up at 5 a.m with my husband and did my 2 mile walk away the lbs. I’m starting to feel myself get bored with it so I’m going to get some of her other tapes too I think (ebay here I come…) Both my daughter and I had pink eye ~ go figure ~ so today was a stay at home day. She made me mad at lunch time for lying to me (like 10 times, she’s 6 yo by the way) and I felt myself emotionally wanting to eat. Thank God for willpower!

It was funny because she wanted McDonalds today and I was like temptations OH NO. Poor thing….. but their daddy will have to take them there. I’m not ready for it yet. LOL I would have gotten a 4 piece nugget in a HEART BEAT without thinking twice.

So with her being home, trying to work, AND get us doctors’ appointments, I jacked up my time schedule AGAIN anddddddddddd didn’t drink my water like I usually do (which probably attributed for the way I felt like I wanted to eat a small cattle ~ LOL)…. Metabolism don’t fail me now!

Breakfast ~ 1 serving Oatmeal, butter and brown sugar

Snack ~ skipped

Lunch ~ A GREAT salad that I concocted, field greens (like half the bag b/c I was hungry), 3 oz of Oscar Mayer Southwestern Chicken strips, 4 strips of Jenni-O- Turkey Bacon, some 2% shredded cheese, black beans and corn (the one that comes with the green and red peppers in it). I made everything but the dressing and field greens HOT…. And then added some of my Kraft Light Done Right Ranch dressing…. OH YEAH!

Snack ~ missed it because lunch was late and we were hurrying to get to the gym. I didn’t care what we were sick with, I wasn’t skipping my Thursday Strength Training class ~ I love that lady!

Dinner ~ We had leftovers. I think I ended up with like 1.5 – 2 cups of the “new red potatoes scalloped potatoes” (main entrée) and 2 cups of broccoli (each thing filled up a ½ of my plate)…. I ate my broccoli first… and then began on my potato dish. I barely ate ½ of that! So I was proud of myself for LISTENING to my body.

**Side note: I really need to figure out HOW SLOW you should eat between each bites for it to register with your body. End side note**
I of course had my 16 oz of water with lemon to drink …..

I’m starting to get hungry now. We are supposed to be having a “chartroom” session for my 10 year class reunion planning, but no one is showing up EVIDENTLY. I know I haven’t eaten as much as I should have, and I think I wanna play around on the net for a while so I may grab a “Kashi Almond Bar” since I just bought them and want to see if I like them (not a big nut fan).

So off I go to try to find

1) a good heart rate monitor
2) some inexpensive Walk Away the Pounds DVDs
3) update my online journal on

and I think that’s it….

Oh yeah, I’ve become a SCALE junkie ~ 179.4! I can’t believe I’m under 180! GO ME! But I’m not recording anything until Monday which really pushes me to do well on the weekends… I think. LOL

Friday, January 19th

Well today was another “unstructured” day….”Caloricly” speaking, I didn’t do too bad. I gave in to McDonalds though. I EVEN had a coupon for a premium chicken salad and a free happy meal for my daughter, but nooooooooooooo I got something off the $1 menu. LOL

I guess its good to know you have to work on something and you are human, right?!

Breakfast was good…..oatmeal again! My son loves it too!

Snack ~ keeblers wheat crackers with Frigo string cheese (mozzarella)

Lunch ~ the sad part was after I began eating it, I wished I had the salad. LOL Even if it was the crispy chicken instead of the grilled! LISTEN TO YOU BODY GIRL!

Snack ~ its 5:47 p.m and I still haven’t had one.

Dinner ~ I think I’m going to take my children out to eat (seafood restaurant) for tonight (Hubby is going out)…. So I may just get some crab legs, CANT go wrong with steamed crab legs. And they give you a GREAT salad before the meal of course….

My daughter and I went ice skating, but I wouldn’t even cheat myself and count it as “cardio” but we did do a lot of walking today, nothing remotely cardio like or aerobic, but at least I know I didn’t sit on my butt all day….. and I plan to go to an “aerobic boxercising” class tomorrow morning at my gym (pray that they don’t KILL me!)

OOooo crab leg! *drools all over* But man I can't eat those without a tub of melted butter..lol.

Have fun at the aerobic boxing class!! I hear those are though!

Slacker on the weekend ~ Fri/Sat 20-21 January

So I’ve realized I really slack when it comes to the weekend. Not just on dieting but on inputting into my journal. So that’s something else to work on. Even if I don’t post it, I at least want to type it up. Saturday was an “interesting” day. Let’s start with the beginning.

Breakfast, oatmeal again. After I finished my serving I realized I better take a break from it before I get sick of it. LOL ~ I meant **key word for I didn’t** to eat a snack prior to working out **Side note: another goal of mine is to time what I eat before and after to aid in my weightloss and make my workouts that much more efficient. End side note** I ATTEMPTED to take that Aerobic Boxercising class … well I waited about 35 minutes and the man never started, so I had to go. I had too many things to do. I was pissed b/c I could have spent that time doing cardio and strength training if I had known. Such is life, I wont be attempting to go to that anymore.

When I got home, knowing that I’m not the type to sit in the house, I have fat girl tendencies and will eat because I am bored, my wonderful husband got the craving to do some work to our house… along with that craving came the craving for Chili’s Bar & Grill… so I ended up joining in with his cravings all the way around. LOL

After spending $ in Lowes, we went to Chili’s. The problem with Chili’s is the salad that I’m in LOVE with is not GOOD for you! LOL. I knew I was never going to get the “guiltless” dishes. I refuse to lie to myself, spend $ and leave wishing I had eaten something else. So MODERATION was the word of the afternoon. My husband ordered the triple play and I had ½ a crisper and 1 of the 3 southwestern egg rolls. I ordered my salad and immediately ask for a box to put ½ in it. Yeah me! I of course drank like 5 glasses of water with lemon so I was not too disappointed with myself.

So we came back and did all of our “tasks” around the house (i.e. putting up ceiling fans, curtains, etc). It was pretty fun!

For dinner, I made some flank steak with green, red, yellow peppers, onions and fresh garlic. We made quesadillas with that! They were really good. Had a little bit of reduced fat sour cream but didn’t use too much of that at all. Almost forgot about it and was wondering WHAT the heck was missing! LOL And I only had 1 of those and my tortilla was low fat low carb!

So that was my Saturday….like I said… “interesting”….

Now on to today!

Today we got up early as usual. I was going to do my 3 mile WTP but I didn’t. So I think I’ll do it tonight. I’m determined to do it and not get bored with it. LOL I made a smoothie today with frozen peaches, strawberries, nonfat yogurt, skim milk and a lil OJ and some splenda. It was “okay”. LOL

Lunch – ate the rest of my salad from Chili’s ~ couldn’t let it go BAD!

And for dinner, I’m trying this Kraft recipe!

Oh yeah during our “home hunt” I bought a W.W scale ~ so I’m excited. It seems to be in line with the scale that I use at the gym. So we’ll see. I liked what I saw on it this morning. LOL

Well… until tomorrow… got stuff to do and gotta get ready for my Motorcycle Club’s meeting!

Monday, January 22nd

Mondays are Monday’s all the way around the board! LOL

Food wise, I did well. It’s the workout that got me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breakfast I had 2 Eggo Waffles; the multi-grain blueberry joints ~ topped off some sugar free syrup which was really good!

I actually packed my lunch, loved it, and didn’t feel like I needed something else or wanted something else ~ have I cured my “choices complex”; only time will tell! I had ¾ cup of brown rice, ½ cup of black beans, ½ cup of Del Monte corn that has the red and green peppers in it, ¼ cup of 2% shredded cheese and 1.5 tablespoons of reduced fat sour cream! Man, I must tell my husband he has some competition, because I’m falling madly in love with Black Beans! LOL

Dinner was ¾ cup of brown rice, a boca grilled pattie that was “sautéed” and smothered with Heinz brown gravy **as I’m sitting here typing, I’m going to add onions to that next time**, and some sautéed spinach with some green/red/yellow peppers.

Now I went GUN-HO to workout this evening, had EVERYTHING planned out, even got my husband to agree to cook dinner, and what did I forget, MY FRIGGIN SNEAKERS!!! Talk about distraught! I just thank God that I have so much motivation right now. I think this is the MOST I’ve ever had towards weight loss! I guess its true:

Change will come only
when the pain of staying the same
is greater than the pain of change."
- unknown

I came home, put my mp3 on my ear drums, and did my 3 mile WATP tape! Its 9:24 and I STILL have not done my crunches (we had a church meeting), but I have the right mind to do them once I venture upstairs to hit the hay.

And on that note.. I’M OUT!

Ahem... I see someone has updated her TICKER :D At least if the numbers in your sig are any clue!

Wow, you really cover a lot of ground when you post, and most of it seems pretty good! You might want to get an extra pair of sneakers to leave in your trunk or even where you work out, if they have storage space; having the wrong shoes can make a workout really uncomfortable,

Giggling

Hee hee hee! You noticed! I'm trying not to become an EVERYDAY scale person. LOL

I'm going to do JUST that. I hope to get them this weekend.

Another great day with some struggles of course! The devil is a liar!

I got up this morning and did my 2 mile WATP with my mp3 player again ~ I’m starting to get “bored” when I hear her talk. For breakfast, I had a bowl of cheerios with ½ a banana (my son ate the other half ~ I swear he will be the reason why I loose my weight. LOL). On my way to work, I drank a bottle of Dasani **Side note: I need to buy another case. End side note** For snack, I had grapes, I think I need to learn how to measure those because after logging about 2 cups they are high in calories or so it says. Which is SOOO not fair ~ I don’t care; if it’s a fruit and not packed in syrup, the calories shouldn’t count! I ought to petition the USDA!

My baby boy got sick so I actually brought my lunch home and on the way home, I was contemplating getting some Chinese food. I’ve been craving some for a while now and have not succumb to it. It was hard, I swear I could taste it! But I chose to save that choice for our “eat out day” which we have limited to one day unlike the entire weekend we used to do. LOL So lunch consisted of a lean pocket (chicken fajita) with a side salad (spring mix, cucumbers, tomatoes, green/red/yellow peppers, reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese and kraft light done right ranch).

Then it happened….I’m supposed to be getting the dog that I’ve been dreaming of for years… a Yorkshire Terrier. Well to make a long story short, it dawned on me that I may not be able to get it right now…. Talk about CRUSHED! And as soon as I realized it… and the emotions began to run wild….and my brain said “feed me Seymour (okay well maybe Tiffany, but you know what I mean)”. It has been confirmed, I posses true “fat girl” tendencies ~ I am an EMOTIONAL EATER. Thanks be to God that I looked up and saw that it was time to go to my son’s doctor’s appointment. So I grabbed my Kashi almond and honey flax bar (2nd snack of the day and pre-workout meal) and headed out **wiping my sweat**

I went to the gym and tried a “new class” just to see what it was – HOUSE OF PAIN is what they call it. Man I surellllllllllly reached my 100 crunches/day goal. The class focuses on strengthening your core which will in turn work every other muscle in your body. I swear we did 500 abdominal exercises. Then my workout partner and I did 30 min of cardio! TALK ABOUT PROUD….

For dinner, I tried another Kraft recipe and I must say I highly recommend it! ~ I am a TOTAL alfredo type of girl and always have made homemade sauce, but now…. I have a new recipe and my husband likes it! I added shrimp and broccoli as I normally do! Talk about a great meal!

Speaking of which, today was Chick-fil-a night for my daughter’s school! Could I get any more tests in one day?!? I bought the kids their kids’ meals and came on home. Didn’t taste a waffle fry, a nugget or anything! **doing my I’m going to get skinny dance**

So watch out world… I’m motivated, I’m committed, and I am woman! Hear me roar!

Nice! You beat a disappointment binge "opportunity"!

I dunno if I could have passed on snagging a hot waffle fry.... I'm wanting to go get some now! Lucky for me, I'm already home with my shoes off :p

It's good to see everything you're doing for this, lol. It makes me remember that I skipped a workout tonight to go hang out with friends; I'm just glad I am the one who made dinner :D I made a salad with light dressing, matchstick carrots, and of course SALMON on top :p
It's good stuff. I am actually hoping to get a workout buddy out of it, someone who wants to head up this way for it ;) That would be nice.

I don't think the grapes are bad for you, just account for the calories and portion out a couple of generous snacks and you should be able to enjoy them without any guilt at all. Fruit is not exactly a sugary snack, even if it is sweet.

Wednesday, January 24th and Thursday, January 25th

Well…. If I fail to ADD to my journal that day either one of two things have happened. (1) I had a very busy mommy/wife/woman day or (2) my eating habits SUCKED. Oh trust I will post it all, but I just lack the motivation at that moment (usually in the evenings) to type up my journal.

Well the day started out really well. I had my old fashioned oatmeal with margarine and brown sugar (I can’t shake that yet, it makes the oatmeal for me. And the entire meal is only 178 calories).

I work from home on Wednesdays so after I dropped off my kids, I went and did my workout. I did the treadmill today ~ walked 2 minutes to warm up, ran a 12 minute mile, walked ½ a mile, ran another 12 min mile, walked a final ½ a mile, then did my 5 minute cool down ~ total of 50 minutes. :D

My first snack ~ grapes again. I had about a cup which was cool. They just don’t “wet my whistle” enough to give me that filling sensation like I’ve eaten something… like yogurt does. So if I eat them from now on, they will be a PART of a meal.

Lunch **sigh** is where it took a TURN for the “ungoodly”. I had an eye doctors appointment so it through my times off; then I did what used to be my “regulars” ~ I had lunch with one of the guys from my motorcycle club. We had bourbon chicken from the Asian place. Of course that consisted of lo mein, and I got the mixed vegetables. I know I said I was feening for Chinese food, it didn’t HIT my spot completely (I wanted chicken and mushrooms), but because I know I over ate and because I know they wouldn’t have cooked it like I should have, I’ll have to chuck it up as satisfying my craving. What is HILARIOUS is that my best friend texted me and said “don’t overeat” and my text back was “too late”. I ate all my veggies first, HAD TOO, and then started on the lo mein and chicken. I gave my boy a lot of my meat so I wasn’t THAT bad, but nonetheless.

But it doesn’t STOP there…. my snack consisted of baked Tostitos with salsa and 100 calorie bag of popcorn. I didn’t need all of that and it really wasn’t that bad. I just thank God for my kids ~ they ate a lot of it. LOL

My husband who has been working VERY WELL with me and my habit changes came to me all pitiful this weekend (prior to doing grocery shopping) and said “Baby, you are doing really well. But are we EVER gonna eat anything fried in the house again”. All I could do was LAUGH hysterically. I mean this is a man who is like 6’4, 190 lbs and his metabolism is to DIE for, so he was only due a favorite meal.

So that’s what we had for dinner…. Fried pork chops, parsley potatoes and collard greens. I mean I could have made myself something else. But we had to go to church for dance rehearsal and I didn’t have a lot of time. I only ate one though I wanted two. I only had 2 potatoes (which one is the size of half dollar I think).

Well that ended the day… not a HORRIBLE day, and I don’t do them often. I’m not proud of it, but I’m not emotional or mad about it.

Now… on to today!

Not a bad day… it started with a serving of multi-grain blueberry eggo waffles and ¼ cup of sugar free syrup. My first snack of the day was yogurt ~ I think I live and die by this stuff. LOL. For lunch, I made a tuna melt (tuna, light mayo, whole wheat bread and a slice of 2% cheese) with some baby carrots. I missed my second snack of the day and for dinner ~ which was leftovers ~ I had like ½ of a chicken breast that I had cooked earlier in the week (parmesan crusted) with a salad.

I don’t think I got in nearly as much water as I should have… but that’s okay. I went to my normal Thursday evening weight training class. The only blower, we had a RACK of “new” people who jacked up the class. I honestly felt like our class wasn’t as challenging as it usually is; now don’t get me wrong, I sweated and pumped some muscle… but still.

I’m really focused on this weekend. They are really hard for me. If I sit in the house, I get bored and want to eat. If I go out, I don’t have the right foods with/near me so it gets jacked up.

Anyway.. its 9 p.m time to put my babies in the bed!

So... You're workin' on it?
I'm satisfied. :p
If you had some extra chinese food and everything else came out pretty smoothly for the day... SO WHAT?
You had a pork chop, 2 new potatoes, and... how does that compare to your diet this time last year?

:p
Keep on keepin' on. You might not be perfect, but last time I checked I couldn't walk on water neither. Now BAKE yourself a pork chop next time! <3

Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Jan 26-28)

So after all that talk about not typing up my journal is usually b/c I sucked, I didn’t get to do Friday and Saturday because I was just too busy ~ typical day in the life of the Lymelyte!

Of course now I can’t even remember how Friday went. I know it wasn’t bad. It started off with oatmeal, I believe, and then lunch was leftover flank steak with green peppers, red peppers and onions (not too much steak either; probably more than 3 -4 oz though). The only bad part was I was so busy at work, I didn’t get to eat my snacks. Not to mention I had way too much on my mind. Dinner on Friday didn’t get eaten till LATE that night because I had to do my daughters hair (like a 4 hr process). But it wasn’t bad, it was only some black beans, corn, cheese, and reduced fat sour cream (what was leftover in my fridge that would have been for lunch one day put on a wrap or with brown rice). Because I had so much to do, I didn’t work out.

Now Saturday began good too…. My husband made pancakes and for me he used my “healthy” bisquick and egg beaters. I also had 1 of the 2 Boca sausages he made for me. Didn’t get a snack again because we were taking a 2.5 hour trip to go pick up our new baby ~ Kobie, a 3 mth old Yorkshire Terrier! Lunch was on the road, McDonalds and I wanted some chicken nuggets so bad, so I got them. Again, no snack, and dinner was the most fattening ~ Kielbasa with fried onions and French fries **sigh** It tasted sooooooo good though. Again, no workout today (sllllllllacker galore!)

Now today…. I made oatmeal for everyone before church. Snack was a banana during services. When I got home, since I am feeling a little under the weather, I ate some oodles and noodles **whispering** with some kielbasa again. Second snack, 4 oz of light Yoplait yogurt. Dinner, I’m making fresh collard greens (well my daddy made them and froze them for us), a ham (it smells GREAT baking), and macaroni and cheese (2% reduced fat). Not the best in terms of watching your calories so I’ll watch my portions.

Tomorrow, I’m on it though! I just thank God I know how to pick up and keep it moving **wiping the sweat**

There's nothing wrong with a Kielbasa! A 4 oz serving (usually 2 dogs) is only around 300 calories, and a single one is only 150ish (numbers may vary a little, of course).
Of course, we all know french fries are bad for us, but outside of the notable lack of serving size information on the fries and nuggets ( :p ) it doesn't seem like you were eating a particularly bad diet. It's almost always possible to improve, but I don't see much wrong with it, if you control your portions.
:D See, not even a slap on the wrist.

Dust yourself off and try again...

I didnt completely fall off... I just didnt LOG ON which doesnt help either. But As I dust myself off, just picking up where I left off.......I've realized that if I want to post consistently that may mean 2-3 times a day posting vs waiting to do my final post in the evening. So here we go...

1/2 a large grapefruit which was DELICIOUS
made a sausage sandwich with Morningstart patties (2), two pieces of wheat toast and a slice of cheese. Really good.

I'm finishing up a bottle of Dasani as I type.... 16 oz and feel pretty full!

Shyt! And as I type this, I realized I left my BOCA BURGERS IN THE FRIDGE AT HOME!!!!! SO I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO GO IN MY SPINACH WRAP - CRAP!!!!!!
