Lukewarm's Weight Loss Diary

Curvie Girlie it was fun, thanks! I know you're busy but it really is a fantastic sport to pick up at some point :) Just find someone who likes drilling and you'll be awesome in no time.

So we made this amazing homemade pizza tonight and we measured out all the cheese and pesto and such and counted the pepperoni, even though we kept wanting MORE we kept to the serving sizes. And I resisted and had one piece for tonight, so that I'm able to have either 2 pieces tomorrow or 1 for Tuesday and Wednesday each. I know it seems obsessive and crazy to regulate it in such a way but if I don't, had Chels not been here, I would have easily eaten the whole pizza. But I was full, and aside from being greedy, I didn't want more. YES! We just got down playing tennis and I simply love a sport that lets me pick it up after a year of not playing and perform decently. I really had a few good shots, but then we were just drilling and it was fun. There were this group of guys that were playing volleyball next to the courts and people were just milling around the track and it was like midnight! I love seeing people out doing healthy fun stuff. It was a great day :) Hope you all had a wonderful day as well.

For the vanilla protein powder thing I like blending it with frozen strawberries and mango. I don't think any fruit would taste bad with it really, lol. I had a hard time with protein too, so I definately like having my protein powder.

Good job on not overeating the pizza. I have the hardest time with it because it's one of my fav's! Although I do like being able to eat it for lunch or supper the next day instead of eating it all in one night :)

Quite some time ago, I got EAS Myoplex Choc Lovers pack from GNC.... it's yummy and more convenient than plain ones! It comes in variety of choc hazelnut, truffle, mint, dark choc! Real good. Don't have to add anything. I was really full after one pack every morning. Best of all, it's not just plain choc but i have different kind of flavors each day! Maybe you can give a try. Can google and check the nutrition info. I'm not sure if i m allowed to post the link so I am not attaching it.
They have strawberry and vanilla packs if you don't like choc.:)

Midnite volleyball???? That's interesting!
Does the ball glow in the dark?:rotflmao:

Risty Thanks! I do happen to have some frozen mango and strawberries but I just don’t want to waste anymore fruit on that powder, it’s overwhelming and I guess I’m just not a huge fan, I’ll try to give it away to my step-father. I know, I love pizza…who doesn’t…but I am happy I resisted. It’s unusual for sure.

Pinkydolly Thanks! I think I must try and hit up GNC today! I’m going to check out both versions and compare prices but I’m taking a note that reminds me of the name you mentioned. I never get to have chocolate and that would be an awesome addition for me! But does it taste a bit off…kind of like a slimquick or ensure? Because that fake chalky chocolate taste just does not do it for me. I know…I’m picky. lol actually I do have a glow-in-the-dark light-up frisbee! There are the giant lights that light up the field and the volleyball sand pit. It was pretty cool!

I’m really sore today and I have a blister on my hand of course. This soreness is exquisite. I remembered (finally) to take my resting heart rate this morning and it was 62 bpm. I don’t think that is particularly good for my age, but I now desperately wish I had found out what my resting heart rate was when I first started this whole endeavor. I think it will be cool to see how low I can get it. I have a spinning class with burly Bob tonight so I’m looking forward to that, I tried to coerce my sister into trying a class, I know she wants to but she’s nervous. It’s as simple as this, if I can do it, so can she. I hope you all have a nice day!

The whey powder I get is GNC brand, packaged in red plastic bags with a zip top, and come in different yummy flavors. They had 50% off the second powder, so I got strawberry and orange flavor. It would be good with fruit too, but I just use fat free milk and the powder. So quick, easy and very filling. When I was watching my carbs for the 3 days last week (that's about how long my discipline lasts) I had to limit the milk so I added 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup milk instead (also saves some calories). Was quite tasty too but not as creamy as with the milk. Anyway, your gonna love this stuff.

But that pizza sounds YUMMY! Good for you on the discipline, you are doing great with the weight loss!

Blancita Very cool, thanks! I am excited to go to GNC now, because I have been ignoring the protein issue for a while. Thanks again ladies :) I have a creepy feeling that I haven't lost any pounds so I'm waiting until the 14th for my next weigh-in.

Hey Lukewarm! Your pizza sounds lovely....I always do the homemade type too, honestly I think it really tastes better when you make it yourself than calling in for it.

Oh, I was thinking, you might want to look into picking up a couple of protein bars with your powder. That way if you find yourself winding up the day without enough protein but still have cals left and you want to chew not drink...protein bar. Plus they make good "take alongs" for when you are out and about and don't really want to stop for fastfood. Plus (and this is a deep, dark secret) if you're ever really having a crazy craving for a giant candybar or slab of cake that just won't go away...a frozen protein bar hits the spot in a way a chicken breast and cup of broccoli just doesn't (same cals & macros) :)

Cym You are simply fabulous, thanks! I am just about to go hit the store, so I certainly will pick up some bars. Oh and I absolutely do have those intense cravings, rather often, so I'll utilize that secret well :) Thanks! Oh yes and it was my first time making a pizza, and needless to say, I so agree that it tastes better when homemade! I am so surprised I think I'm going to drive out to my mom's work and give her a piece. Have a beautiful day!

Edit: Thanks everyone for suggestions I went out and bought the Whey Protein Powder, and the GNC dude was really laidback and nice and let me taste his recommendation for a protein bar to see if I liked it. Needless to say it was awesome and I bought 3 to throw in the freezer for PMS or whatever ;o)

What kind/flavor did you get? Have you tried it and if so did you like it? I sure hope so since I recommended it. Those GNC guys really are QUITE laid back. Guess all those vitamins and supplements are getting to them.

dats great, lukewarm! glad u got yr protein. hope u hv fun putting your berries in them now. Ooooh protein bars! yummy.... too bad i can't eat those. I will go on and on and on. and end up eating 3 a one go lol. Hope it doesn't happen to u. That's why I drink the shake instead.

Blancita I did get the plain unflavored type in a jug with a screw on lid. I saw the flavored sort in the zip bags that you like, and the only reason I didn't go for those is because of my dreadful experiences with the vanilla protein powder, I think I'll rely on fruit and soymilk to flavor the shake. I just don't want to waste another 30 bucks on something I won't use ya know. But tomorrow when I try out a shake I'll let you know, I'm excited!

Pinky Dolly Thanks I'm happy too, the guy laughed when I told him I was too lazy to cook meat every night and said that this stuff was good. haha! I'm worried about the same thing, that's why I bought a couple to see if I could resist them and use them only when necessary! Like when I have a deep dark craving.

So I have this headache and I'm not sure why, but it could be because I haven't eaten all my cals today, but I'm not hungry, in fact I sort of feel as though I'd get sick if I tried to eat something. Anyone else feel that way sometimes? I think I'm going to have an apple before bed though, I need something fibrous in my system, if ya know what I mean...haha sorry gross! Ok I have a meeting with a trainer tomorrow at 10 am and then I have my Pilates/spinning class. My sis wants me to go get her so we can play tennis tomorrow, I think she's hooked :) she played really well last night. There's something about it that just makes you feel good. We worked on volleys so tomorrow I'm gonna stick her at the baseline and run her to death and hopefully she'll work me equally hard. Ok I'm going to try and eat and I'll check out diaries tomorrow! Have a nice night everyone.

Edit: Ate an apple and my headache is gone! I think that's cool!

 Oh and the protein bar flavor is…double fudge brownie. I know I probably could have found something that was a bit healthier but this thing really tastes like a brownie. I talk to the trainer in a couple hours…I’m not really looking forward to it actually because I keep thinking it’s going to be some guy whose eyes glaze over as I ramble on about what I hope to accomplish. But I’ll think positively and just try it. I don’t know precisely how in depth I’m allowed to get with my 3 personal trainer passes but I’m going to ask him to assign me a well-rounded weight-training program. I don’t expect him to make me charts or whatever but I’m bringing a notebook so that I can make it myself. I think I really will do well once I know exactly what I’m supposed to do. The main thing I want to learn how to do…SQUATS! And I need to work my arms and back…ok everything! I’ll post later about how it all went. Thanks everyone have a lovely day! :)

I went out and bought the Whey Protein Powder,
I really hope you like it - I tried it and i'd rather eat the plastic jug it came it - it was the most processed tasting revolting crap ever made I think... i thought slimfast was bad -this leap frogged past it in terms of really bad tasting stuff... :D

Have fun with your trainer at the gym - just be really clear in what you want.. they're working for you...

Maleficent haha! I so feel that way about my vanilla protein powder, I was so mad that I wasted berries on it. I really hope I like the whey powder better, I will be sad if not, I'm going to try it later. I agree. I pay lots of money to the gym, and my trainer session will be used to it's fullest advantage. I have lots of questions...poor dude.

i was more annoyed at spending the money on the whey powder and NOT having it available in a small size to see if I liked it NOO i had to buy this big huge container of it - one serving and it endedup in the trash...

Morning Sara!! Hey I wanted to know if your classes at the gym are getting easier for you and if you were enjoying them more now?? It just takes time to build up in any new class, but after a week or so your body really starts to adjust and it feels good and more enjoyable to me anyways. It seems you've been busy doing the protein shakes, good for you!! I hear they keep you full longer than most small meals, so hopefully they will work real well for you. Well I need to get going, but really want to stop by before I sign off. I hope you have a very wonderful day today. Your doing such a great job!! I'm proud!

Hey Lukewarm! I hope your meeting with your Personal Trainer goes great. I just barely got one a few weeks ago and I love it. I was a little bit scared that I wouldn't like him or he'd be a jerk or what not but, he is super nice and wants me to succeed just as much as I want to. I was really intimidated to start using the weights and I was upfront about that. He has really helped me out.

I'm sorry you didn't like the protein powder. I like the chocolate whey powder by itself, it tastes good. The vanilla one is better with strawberries or something. Not so good by itself but I drink it by itself at work. Even though it's not the greatest stuff I'd rather do that then try to prepare other proteins to eat! Plus I tried cottage cheese for the protein and was gagging it down so..... protein powder, woo!!! LOL

I hope the trainer session goes well! I'm sure it will! Oh and ask all the questions you want, I'm sure they don't mind, that's what they're there for!

Ok so I had the trainer session. It was interesting…I didn’t like him very much though. He had that false charisma thing about him, which didn’t fool me, and he wouldn’t make eye contact which drove me nuts too. I’m maybe being a little hard on him but the dude tried hard to hustle me into purchasing sessions from him, and I realize that his job is to sell himself but I didn’t click with him so…if the vibe isn’t good from the start there’s no way I’d look forward to training with him and I don’t have the money to pay some awkward guy to make charming little jokes. I have 2 free sessions left and he had me hold a little thing that approximated my body fat (33%) so my plan is to use another session in a couple months to see if my body fat percentage has gone down. He winced when I said that I’d use my other session in 2 months. He just blabbered about stuff I already knew (from the forum) and I KNOW I’m being negative but I can’t help it. He put me on three machines and then that was the end of the session. So, I have decided that instead of paying someone $50 for 30 mins. of training, I’m going to start attending “lean muscle workout” classes which I talked to the aerobic director about this afternoon, it uses resistance bands and such and I do realize that using bands will not replace the weight-training. She approached me and was like “you’re always here, it’s so great, now you better come to my class!” The conversation I had with her totally made up for the dopey guy. ALSO this has made me realize that I CAN do weight training on my own, I’m not a complete idiot and I feel that the info on the forum has reinforced my confidence by supplying me with knowledge about weights and form such. I’ll just keep reading more, but now I’m more determined than ever to do this on my own. I have to go to an appt. at the moment but I’m going to reply to everyone’s messages, thanks everyone!

Maleficent I know, it isn’t very reasonable. It’s definitely not my favorite thing in the world. haha!

Miss Ladybug aw thanks! You’re doing a wonderful job! And yes, I LOVE my classes. They are so much fun and I feel so fantastic afterwards…I can’t believe how much fun I’m having, and how much harder I work in a group rather than alone.

Sammyboy24 man I wish my session was as great as yours! Thanks for saying hello! I’ll have to stop by and say hi in your journal ;o) I really wasn’t feeling the personal trainer though…

Risty
I DID ask lots of questions and he answered vaguely and moved on to the payment plan. It was not very informative, but I learn way more from the workout sticky thread anyways…and Leigh Peele’s site. Yeah I think my palate isn’t used to the protein powder but it is convenient. I just really don’t like the different flavorings, plain for me!

Blancita Just to let you know, I did like this protein powder much better than the other stuff, thank you ;o) I think it’s just going to take some getting used to on my part.

K I hope you all have a lovely evening, I’m going to try and go for a jog on my treadmill in a minute, because I’m curious to see how far I can jog. I think my fitness level has improved so we’ll see.
