Lukewarm's Weight Loss Diary

Glad u like yr stuff. My mum just passed a medium tin of vanilla powder to me. It was already opened and it sucks. No wonder she gave it to me. I'll trying to leaveit in the office pantry later and let whoever wants it make drinks themselves :p

hv a record breaking workout! go gal! :)

Use it for ice cream? Frozen won't taste as bad i guess.... heheh. Or make granola bars? or just add vanilla essence to kill the smell lor! :p

Lukewarm, I am sorry your training session didn't go so well. I think I am pretty lucky for the pt i got. I actually got one with a personality who can relate to other people. There are definitely some PTs at the gym I go to that I don't think I would get along with. I even brought that up with the guy I originally talked to that if I didn't like my trainer could I switch and he said yes. I was scarred I was going to get some asshole or something.

My trainer is the direct opposite of me. He is like 5'6'' and super small, but built like a brick shithouse. He has red hair and freckles. He runs track and dedicates a lot of time to that. He has been super understanding and made me feel very comfortable. I actually think I am probably one of his best clients. He says he isn't worried about me getting my workouts in because he always sees me sweating at the gym. He also said that my food journal was one of the best he had ever seen. That made me very happy and it motivated me to keep going and stick with this.

I think using your free sessions every couple of months isn't a bad idea. I would do that to probably. I totally understand personal trainers are a luxury that not everyone can afford. The only reason I'm doing this is because I talked the guy down to $25 a session. Then I prepaid a bunch of sessions in full and put it on a credit card. I am committed to paying that off as well (and doing really well with it), just as I am in sticking with this whole gym/clean eating way of life.

Just remember that you can do this, with or without a trainer. I think the "lean muscle workout" you are going to begin will be great. I have noticed a huge difference in my body since I started doing weight training with cardio, instead of just cardio.

AAARGh...your trainer session so reminds me of my own...it was liking pulling teeth to get what I wanted (a demonstration of form on specific exercises) vs what they wanted to give me (a package deal on trainer sessions). It was like a war of the wills..."I'm going to show you this"....."no, I'm not interested in that....you are going to show me this...I want to watch you do it, then I want you to watch me do it". Worse than dealing with a car salesman:boxing:

Pinky Dolly perhaps…I did just read this recipe for protein bars that sounded really delicious…but you know the vanilla is so pungent. I must give it away too I think.

Sammyboy24 Your trainer sounds utterly fantastic. When he asked me about my diet (which I think is fairly good, although not balanced regarding macros) he’s just like ‘yeah yeah we help with the nutrition here too, we’ll offer advice and it’s better than the website because we’ll critique your diet once a month for you’ which he described as ‘fried chicken should be grilled chicken, milk should be skim milk, etc…’ I’m still a little tiny bit bitter about how he treated me like a moron. I don’t know how he convinces anyone to train with him. Awesome! I’m so happy you mentioned that sentence about how you have seen a huge difference as opposed to just cardio. I can hear all of this advice but I just want to see

Cym EXACTLY! I told him that I want very much to learn how to use free weights, and I especially want to learn how to properly do squats, and he just said that he wouldn’t start me on that because I’m a beginner and I shouldn’t hurt myself. He’s right, I shouldn’t hurt myself, so that’s why I wanted him to show me HOW to do it??? He put me on the leg press instead. I don’t know…and he used a lot of cliches, which isn’t his fault but really drives me crazy! Ugh!

WOW I fully intended on being nice today, sorry people. I’m OVER it, I’m rather happy with my resolve to weight lift on my own, and do a good job of it. I’m a bit hardheaded so I sort of want to prove to myself that I don’t need him muttering in my ear. The people that are really helping me in the gym are my instructors…they are ALL so wonderful. I really am stunned at how fabulous they are.

I would like to say that I joined this forum on March 31st 07. Today is June 14th 07. I have reached my minigoal weight of 165, and I think that I look a hell of a lot better. My arms and waist are what surprise me most. That and my bust, but I knew all along that’s where I’d lose weight first. I know this might not happen, but I want to really push it to lose 10 more lbs. by the end of July. Ok…I hope everyone is having a beautiful day so far! I have my lean muscle workout class, and then straight after a spin class. I am intending on going to the gym early to strength train my arms and my back.

Great Job Sara!! how tall are you?? You will have to post a new updated pic of yourself, so we can see how great you look of course. :) I have read in so many of your replies about the personal trainer, I had one at our gym to that was offered to me free, but I see what they do and like the others, I had no desire on having them show me what I already know, or what they want you to know, so they can leave you open ended and needing to pay for extra sessions to figure out the rest. What I do is, become friendly with all the other members in the gym and just ask their advise on what to do and the correct way to do it. It has worked best for me so far, and not only did you get the advise YOU NEEDED, but you earned the respect of a new friend, can't beat that with a stick. I'm sure you will reach that 10 lb mark by the end of July with no problems at all, Your on a roll, GOOD JOB!:rotflmao:

Miss Ladybug Exactly, it's that little teaser session supposed to seduce you into buying more. I get it...I love your tactic! I think I'm going to do the same :) I get more comfortable each day I walk in there, and you know I think that trainer did help me, because I feel like it's no big deal to be out on the weight floor now. I am 5'4, which is a bummer, I am definitely going to post pics when there is enough of a difference to show! I had hope for July 21st pics to compare my birthday from year to year. It would be so much more fun had I started this all months ago though. Thank you :) I WILL lose 10...I WILL!

Miss Ladybug you're the best :)

I just remembered that I'm going on a road trip this weekend! haha man I'm spacey. I've gotta pack, and even though it's only a 7 hour drive, I must hurry and plan my road snacks! I don't think I actually have anything to pack though. I did just buy some granola? What am I going to do? 2 entire days and nights without posting my food, no accountability, no confession :shudder: I don't think my dad cares about the internet so I doubt he has it...and this man does not cook often. I just reached 165 and now I've gotta fend for myself in the restaurant food battle. I am weighing myself on Monday morning the moment I get back.

just keep sucking down water :) and i'm sure youll be fine - you could always take along a little notebook with you and use that to record your daily food..

Maleficent Thanks, yes I will make sure to guzzle water! I will write down everything. I tried that Kashi Orchard Spice granola by the way and it is delicious. I've separated it into little 440 cal. baggies. It is so yummy that my sis is going to be stealing it I'm sure. :) Notebook, water, granola, music, I like short vacations. 2 days, have some fun, visit, and head back.

Sara,
Did I tell you about those Quaker Mini Rice cakes that are only 90 calories per package? You need to check those out. I got the ones that have the chocolate swirl on them, and oh my gosh, they are pretty good for damn rice cake. You can eat really good in most restaurants if you really check out the menu and ask for substitutes like no butter on stuff or add stuff on the side. You will do fine, as Mal said drink plenty of water and it should be alright. Try to do a lot of walking while your out, that will burn a little calories for you also. And maybe in the late evening do some pilates or stretching to keep you balanced for when you return. Don't worry, I know you'll do well, you want it so bad, I'm sure you won't let yourself fail now. Good Luck!
Kim

Miss Ladybug yes I have heard those are yummy, I think I will try them out when I get home, chocolate swirl...yum :) I didn't think about doing Pilates on my own! I totally could! I will have to give myself a little 30 min. period of time where I stretch out and work the abs. I will be exercising every day, I think my dad said there were some mountain bikes available with the condo he's staying in so once I figure out what's available I'll be exercising each day for sure. Thank you again!

I attended the lean muscle workout with Cathy tonight, and holy shit I feel like rubber. Spinning was unbelievably difficult after that class. My arms could barely hold my weight during hovers, but it was good. I feel sufficiently worked out haha. SO I'm about to take a shower, then pick up Chels and we're on our way. I'll munch on my baggie of granola on my way, and that will be my supper, ending my day at just under 1400, and if I eat the whole baggie I will have made my protein goal. I hope you all have a lovely 3 days and I'll post again on Monday. Have fun this weekend everyone.

hmm. I wish I had a buddy to go to the classes with me. Sounds like fun! And, you'll be all nice and sore tomorrow! :D heated beanbags help, trust me. :D

Xorie haha I wish I had a friend to go to class with me too! No such luck, Cathy is the instructor :) haha thanks though I hope you have a nice night.

*shurgs* oh well, my mistake. That spinning class really does sound fun though, and I wish that the Y offered something like that, but I don't think they do. I do know that there's a yoga class though... :D But i'm not nearly flexible enough to twist my body into impossible positions... :D

Hey Sara,

I see you've been having a lot of fun, even with the salesman personal trainer. I hate it when they treat you like an idiot.. Well done on the spinning class.. I still haven't tried it yet, but when I do I'll see if it's as good as you describe it..

Good luck on the 2lb loss, and on reaching your mini goal. Keep sticking to what you're doing and you'll lose more in no time..

Wow, Luke, gone for a week and I see I missed lots of action in your life. First, congratu-freaking-lations on reaching your mini goal of 165 pounds. That is from hard work and dedication.

I'm glad you like your whey protein powder (really good stuff) and your lean muscle class, amazing you're also spinning and weights...what a combination. Your pounds will be melting off so fast, like the wicked witch of the west you'll be shrieking "I'm melting, I'm meeeeeelting. Oh, what a world, what a world!" But my dear, you are not a witch... you mentioned being a hardheaded woman. You have to be with fitness trainers aka car salesmans....jayzuz! You are a lovely gem. Makes me think of that song by Cat Stevens:
I'm looking for a hard headed woman, one who will
take me for myself, and if I find my hard headed
woman I will need nobody else.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman, one who will
make me do my best, and if I find my hard headed
woman, ooh, I know the rest of my life will be blessed,
yes yes yes.
I know a lot of fancy dancers, people who can
glide you on a floor, they move so smooth but have
no answers, wo. When you ask them, "What d'you
com here for?" "I don't know," "Why."
I know many fine eathered friends, but their
friendliness depends on how you do. They know many
sure fired ways, to find out the one who pays, and
how you do.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman, one who will
make me feel so good, and if I find my hard headed
woman, wo, I know my life will be as it should,
yes yes yes.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman, one who will
make me do my best and if I find my hard headed
woman . . .

I know you are one of the few people who won't mind me posting song lyrics in your diary....tee hee Keep up the fantastic workouts and protein intake!

Hey, I'm also sorry your training session didn't so well. I hope you like the lean muscle class thingy. Resistance bands work really well. I got a lot stronger using them for sure! They're a lot harder than people think, especially if you're doing them right (like anything really).

Congrats on reaching your mini goal! That's awesome :D You'll reach your ultimate goal in no time with the way you're going ;)
