That food all looks good, Lucy. Where do you buy the chocolate bites? I just bought a couple of the LaZuppa pouches to try. I thought they might be very convenient to leave in my locker at the golf club.

I love your idea of setting your goal by your favorite store's measurements!

The choc bites I picked up at Chemist Warehouse. I really like them, they're a very decent serve, taste really good and don't trigger me to get other sweets at all. Super satisfying. I've tried all 3 now and can't pick a fav! I had dark choc mint today. I really like the La Zuppa soups too, they're pretty tasty in comparison to all the other shelf soups I've had over the years.

Haha I think it's good to have both measurement and weight goals. I honestly can't imagine being a size 8!

Thanks, Lucy. I might get them to keep in the pantry for when I really do want something sweet. I haven't tried the soup yet, but might next week at golf.

Hip still hurts today but it is much more obvious that it's my hip flexor right now. Hip joint also doesn't feel great, kind of how my knees feel when they misalign (which doesn't really happen anymore) so I'm guessing it's because of that tight muscle. Urgh. Just keep stretching it!

Not much on for the rest of the day, going to start next fortnights' meal plan so I can organise my shopping list for Tues night. Husband goes to Sydney early Wed morn and isn't back till Thu night... Haha we are both such babies. He went to Brisbane for conference at the start of this week for the night and we both sooked about it.

Hope your hip feels better soon. That cat is just the loveliest, fluffiest thing I've seen!

looking good, take good care of that hip, you don't want to be having injections in it like I needed this week.

Shes the cutest!!

Ahh no, that doesn't sound good. Physio is pretty onto it, I'm avoiding anything that actively flares it... just cant figure out the cause. We thought it was my SI joint as I have had issues on that side before (still think some of it is actually) but the hip flexor and/or inner thigh muscle seems to randomly get tight and make me miserable for a few days in a row. Currently fighting a bunch of muscle imbalances which don't help, the hip flexor on that side is tighter than the left and the left glute is tighter than my right. Joys of exercise rehab I guess.

Husband scored an extra day off so that's been nice! Haven't done much, watching the new season of Orange is the new black. Tomorrow I am going to the doctor early to get my blood test results for iron levels, then we are watching Mission impossible at the movies. After that it's a quiet arvo, higher calorie day so thinking ice cream for lunch and planning lasagne for dinner.

Real talk. I'm having a bad back day and it's making me sad. I got up early this morning (5.30) and did my quad exercises and went for a walk (hip is a lot better and my walk is now 40mins, yay!) I was fine after that, but then we drove and walked and watched a movie and by then my back was spasming and I was using my arms to support my spine and now I'm in a lot of pain and my neck is killing me. I hate this, just wanted to have a normal day and then overdid it. I have to get through several appointments tomorrow too.

Doctor appointment was ok, my ferritin level has gone from 7 to 40 in 10 months. I'm supposed to be aiming for over 60 and it's going up a lot slower than expected so might be taking iron supplements for another year or even permanently. He wants me to get another blood test in 3 months and a pelvic ultrasound to check for fibroids, I've had one before and there was nothing and the pill is helping with how heavy my periods are so not sure I really need to.

Tomorrow I have dentist at 9am so I'll be getting up at 5 to do Pilates and my walk. Then I have to waste an hour until orthodontist at 11am, then drive home and in the evening I have my hair appointment at 6.30 and it's an hour drive each way and the appointment is supposed to take 1.5 hours. I may just die. Can't cancel any either, already moved my dentist appointment once and orthodontist is always booked up for weeks. Also will find out if this will be my last appointment, I might be getting them off in October! And the hair has gotta go, I washed/dried it yesterday which is an ordeal and a half and might be contributing to how shit my back is today.

Ohhhh and hair! These are the two hair cuts I like and will be taking as reference pics tomorrow.

Just going to discuss how each would sit with my curl type, what would match my face etc and let her go crazy. Shes a curly hair specialist so this will be a new experience, they cut hair dry curl by curl so they can see how it sits immediately. So cool.

Blah. Anyway.

Now I've got that off my chest, I was going to share my very protein heavy lasagna recipe for Emily.

A43v7SN.jpg

Huge piece still in the tray so you can see the layers!!

Ingredients

375g fresh lasagna sheets (1009)
500g lean beef mince (650)
375g mushrooms (110)
700g passata (210)
Garlic, salt and pepper, herbs, tamari or Worcestershire (negligible)
500g light cottage cheese (485cals)
100g shredded mozzarella (312)

Preheat oven at 190C. Grill mushrooms, add mince and season with salt and pepper. Add passata and garlic (I used powder cuz I'm lazy) herbs (I used 1tbsp dried Italian mix, use whatever you want. I like fresh basil too) about 1.5 tbsp of tamari or Worcestershire sauce (makes it taste a lot richer) and let it simmer for about 10mins.

Use pasta sheets to make layers. I seriously didn't realise how much pasta there was (8 long sheets) so I made 8 layers alternating the meat sauce and the cottage cheese lol. Top with the mozzarella and bake for 30-35mins till its properly melted, then let it rest for 10-15mins before serving.

1 piece of 6 (huge piece by the way)

Or

Whole lasagna

Your food tips is wonderful.

I'm glad my food stuff is potentially helpful!

I love that first hair picture!

I'm really tossing up between the two! First one is more of an inverted bob and second is just short layers. Either way my curls are more like the first pic when shorter, they just spring right up!
omg now I really want lasagna. I never heard of passata before

I'd normally use 2x 400g tins of crushed tomatoes but my husband got a goodie bag from a conference with a bunch of stuff in it and the jar of passata was one of them. The only ingredient is tomatoes so I think its pretty much like the tinned crushed ones but smooth.

Well, off to dentist now. Pre-emptively took diazepam (which I don't really like taking) to hopefully stop my back having spasms in the dentist chair. Decided to get up at 6 instead of 5 and have only done Pilates. Going to use the time in between appointments for my walk! We are heading to an area with an amazing water path so it'll be nice.

I hope your full-on day goes well, Lucy. There's no point saying take it easy, but I really hope the pain subsides & you have a good day xo Cate

Keeping up my 30.5 year streak cavity free, yay! My teeth are absolutely freakin killing me after orthodontist. Not getting my braces off next appointment but I go in again in 3 weeks instead of 8- my front teeth are on an angle and I think they're aggressively fixing it but it means I'm in a whole heap of pain. Don't think my teeth have been this sore since I got them on. I managed lunch as they weren't that bad yet, then struggled with the strawberries this afternoon, and eating yogurt at dinner made my teeth burn lol. Got in as many calories as I could but I think that's it for the day, will add in extra fatty things tomorrow I guess (another day of soft food). Stocked up on potatoes for mash, soup, yogurt, protein pudding etc. Should be ok!

Our walk today was soooooo nice. Its winter here but was 24c and felt so summery, I took some quick snaps while walking.
