Losing Weight in the Land of Chocolate and Cheese!

Yay - so glad your ankle is better and that you can start to run again! Take it easy and don't do too much at once - you don't want to have another mandatory break from running. It's so exciting that you are able to do the drills in netball (?) again! Not sure what that is, might have to google it later - lol!

Thanks bow of rain! :) I'm pretty happy about it too :)

And honeybunches haha - that's awesome about the bikkies! LOVE it!

And yeah, Ijustwanna you are totally right. I usually make that mistake, but after having suffered with this injury for five months now, I'm going to make sure I look after it! Netball is AWESOME! It's by FAR the most popular female sport in Australia, and it's also like that in New Zealand and South Africa too. Pretty popular in Britain too. Kind of like basketball, but a thousand times better ;)

Today
Had a lovely cooking day today. My Finnish friend Iida and her new little bub came around for lunch and I whipped up some bruschetta and a strawberry/parmesan/balsamic salad. YUM! Then tonight I tried two new veg curries that my hubby LOVED. And... well... some tiramisu. It just happened. Needed to show my man what I'd learnt!

Counting my cals again today.

FOOD: 1314Cal
- bruschetta (294Cal)
- Salad (lettuce leaves, cucumber, strawberries, shaved parmesan, olive oil, balsamic) (70)
- skim decaf coffee (90)
- Palak paneer; eggplant, zucchini and tomato curry; 1/2 cup cooked basmati rice (459 cal)
- small tiramisu (1 egg, 3tbsp mascarpone, 2 sponge finger biscuit, 1tsp sugar, cocoa powder) 503cal

Can you tell me how to make bruschetta. I know if i make it up it will just be like toast with oil and tomato.

Good news that you are back on the hop. Its frustrating when you have to stop running for an injury. At least this has been short (I think hasn't it).

Food sounds yummy with all the gourmet things.

I'd be hungry al day too if i was trying to survive on 1300 at your height. Can't you afford to eat more? I'm sure i was eating more than 1300 when i was losing weight before my cycle journey.

btw i'm reading your blog one day at a time. Its fun. and will be helpful for my france trip i'm sure.

Hi 44 :) Thanks for reading our cycling blog! Hope it's not too boring... it's kind of aimed a lot at people who may possible be looking at cycling the same route someday.

Bruschetta is SO yummy! And so simple! I was completely shocked at how yummy it was. This is how I do it:
- toast some chunky white italian bread
- rub it all over (both sides) with a raw garlic - just peel a clove and go crazy! I use a whole clove for two pieces... but I like it like that :)
- chop up some very ripe tomatoes - I used 3 today for two people - and chop up some fresh basil (however much you like. It's not necessary, but yummy), stir them together. - cover your toast with the tomato/basil mixture and sprinkle on a little salt.
- drizzle with olive oil (however much you think - but go wild. And it has to be really good, expensive, tasty extra virgin stuff)
-sprinkle on a little dried oregano and then a final quick drizzle of thickened old balsamic (you know the stuff? It's been reduced down and it's quite sweet).

It'll blow your socks off. :)

About the 1300 calories, I'm usually at about 14-1600 but I didn't have breaky today. First time in forever. Yeah, I can probably afford to have more... I think I'm losing more now than what I was when I was trying to stick to 1200, so that'll teach me.

Oh, and my ankle... I injured it in March, so it feels like years to me. ;) I was running still for a little while when I was still in a lot of pain. Silly me. So I feel like I've been out of action for SUCH a long time.

That bruschetta sound heavenly! I don't know why, but I thought it was just like stale bread! I will be trying that out very soon :)

Is the strawberry salad a Tuscan thing? I wouldn't think to put them in a salad, I bet its nice though.

And your hubby got not only one curry, but two!!!

:hurray::hurray: Super excited that you get to resume netball..I can only imagine how you have missed it!! Its like I get to play now too..lol. :) :)

Now that that stinking wedding is out of the way..:ack2:....I want to read your blog..I have a friend in Arizona that blogs and takes pictures about his cycling... I actually find it very interesting....looking forward to yours too...maybe if my bum gets small enough some day...I will give cycling a try...last time my tushy hurt for days..haha

Did two hours writing. Will go do more this arvo.

Went shopping to reward myself. I haven't for ages, and I'm feeling REALLY chuffed lately. I lost another 0.3 this morning, so I'm at 81.6kg, which I never ever thought I'd actually be able to reach. I needed some new clothes because the weather is getting colder and none of the clothes I was wearing a few months ago fit me anymore. Particularly none of my staples.

Want a fashion show? ;) New top, new skirt (will look better with tights), new jacket.

Alright, reply time :)

Ruthie yeah, my hubby is a lucky duck ;) But I wanted to try out a new eggplant curry thing, and we both aren't huge fans of eggplant (but thought I'd give it a go), so I wanted to have a sure-thing there too. And damn, that palak paneer was AWESOME! Eggplant one... well... yeah, I don't really like eggplant. haha. The salad isn't from my Tuscan class, it's just what was in the fridge. I've used strawbs before, but you have to be careful how you use them and what with. Definitely only use a balsamic dressing with them too.

Tetem YAY! I love that you are so excited about my netball! ME TOO!!! hehe. Can't wait til I get back into the C25K running thing too... but that won't be for a little while yet I think. So funny that you are all reading our cycling blog! It's like worlds colliding... Yeah, you have to train your butt, that's for sure! The first two weeks I had serious pressure sores... but then it gets like steel ;)

50 pounds Hi again! YAY! Thanks so much! I still see my big butt, but cest la vie (I have a pretty overly-curved spine, apparently, which doesn't help. I think my butt will always stick out, no matter the size!). Pretty happy with myself lately! My man is pretty stoked too hehe. I'm writing... a novel... though it's scary for me to admit that on this forum, because my writing here is attrocious. Just stream-of-counsciousness. No imagery, no sensory language, no need for imagination, or anything that I'm good at. haha.

I wish u could here me whistling..whoo hoo.... looking good!!.... H to the O to the T good!!!! l love it!!!!!!!

:D I've 'made it'??? Woah. That is freaking scary. I think I'll feel like I've 'made it' once I'm seventy-something. My man asked me last night (after he kept looking at me and saying how skinny I am!) when I was last this thin. And I realised that this is the skinniest I have been for ten years. Holy cow.

Thanks for saying I look beautiful :)

Well... my goal has always been a BMI of 22, but I think that will be too little for me. So... good question! I will be ecstatic when I hit the 70s! Maybe 78??? Good question! :)

YOU LOOK STUNNING HUN!!!!! TOTALLY STUNNING!
You are so so slim. And your new outfits look so cool and boy, do you look happy. So so chuffed for you. I really am.

I did session 14 of my C25K this afternoon. It was 2x8 min intervals and i was really looking forward to it but quite nervous too as 5 min is the longest i have done so far but.........I DID IT!!! And it was pretty easy too (i can't believe i just said that!) I loved it, i really did. I can't wait 'til thursday. It's my birthday and i have to do a 20 min run!! I am feeling more confident that i can do it and what a birthday present it will be if i can!!!
Just wanna say a huge thank you to you personally cos you are the reason i tried running and your support is the reason i've kept going.....I am so nearly there.

HOTBUNS:D WOW thanks so much! I was thinking that I should have taken off my glasses for the photos hahaha. Oh well. :)

I am SO chuffed for you! And that you say it was EASY!!! Isn't that incredible! Proof that this programme actually works! I can't WAIT to hear how your birthday run goes! So scary, but I am just busting with pride :) Truly! I am living it out through you! I love that we can both give each other such joy. xxx

My man worked late today. You know what that means. Especially when combined with that time of the month. I mean, how much cheese can a woman HAVE in one day? And this is a LOT of sugar for me!!!

FOOD
- small decaf milk coffee
- small grilled vegetable foccacia
- my husband's leftover tiramisu (1/4 bowl. Whoops) AND 50g dark chocolate
- plain risotto with parmesan cheese
- a small bowl left-over eggplant curry with some extra grilled halloumi cheese
- big scoop lemon sorbet

So boo to that. Porridge tomorrow morning.

Taking your glasses off????? NO! They really suit you, you look great in glasses. You could get away with using them as a fashion accessory!!

Thanks for your encouragement with my running. It really means a lot and keeps me going, i don't really mention it to too many people cos i feel a bit of an idiot getting so excited about running when i use to think people were bloody weird for doing it before. It's nice to be able to talk about how excited i am and how proud i am of myself (i am never proud of myself normally!!, i feel that is self indulging and that i don't deserve to be) I can't wait until you do your C25K and i am so gonna be there cheering you on!!! You will defintly find it easier than i did cos you are uber fit.

Don't worry about your food, that's not that much cheese lol. I can't have cheese at all really cos i am not capable of eating a little!!
You haven't done too bad and you are propper skinny so it's all good!!

Joh, I can't even begin to tell you how good you look! You look suave & sophisticated & stunning. That will do for the moment. I just realised they all started with s! Be proud of yourself my friend. You really do look sensational!! xoxo Cate
PS Your glasses really suit you. REALLY!!!

Hey Joh!! Im Becky :)
Ive read through your diary these last few days... it was interesting to read! Just couldn't seem to stop until i got to the end haha. You've come such a long way and I think you're looking really great, so you should be proud of yourself. Don't mind the little slip ups we're all gonna have them, some maybe several times a week. Just do your best. That's all we can do ey? I'm only back on with the dieting thing for a couple of days now, it's easiest when I first begin so i keep expecting i'll go slipping back soon enough, which is not a good way to think about it =o
I hope it's gonna work out with your ankle. Netball is such fun! I'm from England so I played in high school, I loved to play GS or GA. I got the chance sometimes but mostly i'd be a WA or so. Ahh i would like to play again :) but I think they don't even know what it is here in the Netherlands xD haha.
Anyways good luck with everything and keep it up, you're doing brilliant!!
