Losing Weight in the Land of Chocolate and Cheese!

AJOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Lol Tete!!!!!!! Omg I am laughing so much!!!!! I can't believe that you didn't forgive him for not getting you a pizza for 13 years!!!! Still laughing...... I need to control myself teeheee.

I also had a throwing up routine. I always ate weetabix for brekkie becaus it is easy to sick up. Stomach acid is vile. VILE!!!!! My gag reflex became so weak by the end of pregnancy I was sick just thinking about it!

Beanie will take everything he/she needs from your body, so don't feel bad about being repulsed by veggies. With any luck you will feel okay again a couple of months time, and your appetite will come back. It really is horrible feeling so rough, and I do feel for you :(

I do remember on day three after having lily bursting into noisy tears in the local shop because they didn't have any muffins. The baby blues were to blame for that one though! Don't book any visitors for day three! When your milk comes in you are super emotional.

AHi lovelies

Sorry I can't bring myself to write back to all of you at the moment, although you are all SOOO LOVELY! I am just so exhausted. I am sleeping about 16 hours a day in total and yesterday I woke up with a cold... GRR.

Today, though, I had a carrot. And now I'm eating an orange. Yay for not crap food! Even if it is all orange :)

Sorry girls, will get back to you when I'm feeling a bit better. xxx

ASo my apetite is back a little. Which is GOOD! Phew! The mornings are still a struggle, and I have a cold, so that is shite....

Here is what I've had so far today:

- tub of plain yoghurt
- 1/2 fruit-and-nut energy bar
- 2 small white bread rolls, one with avocado, one with butter and vegemite (YUM! They went down a treat!),
- 3 roasted baby potatoes, 1/2 carrot, 2 chunks roasted pumpkin (roasted with herbs and olive oil)

Weird not weighing myself every day... Dunc is making sure I don't! :)

AHeya hun (and beanie)

I am so pleased you are feeling a bit better. It is proper shite, pregnancy sickness, hopefully you won't get it for long.
Ruthie's comment made me giggle, the one about 'wheatabix being easy to throw up' I too ate what was easy to throw up. (sorry if this grosses you out) I always had cornflakes for breakfast cos Wheatabix made me reatch while eating them, toast really hurts coming back and rice krispies came out of my nose!!!!!!!!! (Hope that made you giggle and not make you feel sick :)

I noticed on facebook that you loved vegemite on toast! I lived on marmite on toast!!!!!!! I always lost my breakfast at some point during the morning (Mo, the dentist i work with would be able to tell when i was gonna have to run and would just take what ever i was holding) but i would have marmite on toast in my coffee break at work and would keep that down, then would have some more in my lunch break before having a nap in the patients chair.
One funny thing i did was kept throwing milk away convinced it was off cos it smelt so gross. Really annoyed everyone especially Mark! one time i threw some away and he shouted 'i bloody bought that this morning!'

Hope my rantings haven't freaked you out. I wouldn't have changed it for the world!

Beanie Be nice to mummy. Xxx

AHi Katie! haha I only vomited twice while reading your post ;) JOKING! I haven't actually chucked yet, just feeling BLAH and something I think I'd feel better if I actually DID empty my system! Ha. I love al the stories - from you, rainbow and Tete! :) You girls crack me up. Looks like I've got more craziness coming my way! :)

The funny thing? I have a tub of vegemite in my hand right now. I could just eat it out of the jar. Which is INSANITY!!!!

So I had a revelation yesterday when I went to the shops (less that 100m away) and got so exhausted I almost fainted at the counter. I went all hot and broke out in a sweat then went freezing cold.... so I had to leave and sit outside ontop of the bin for a minute. I haven't felt that kind of exhaustion since I first got diagnosed with glandular fever (then I had chronic fatigue syndrome for four years afterwards). That's crazy amounts of exhaustion. But everyone says it will get better in a few weeks... I think it's just so bad at the moment because I have a cold too.

My man has been on call this week so he doesn't get home until 11pm. Poor chicken! It makes food really hard. I really need someone to cook for me! Just a big pot of chicken soup. I dunno. Maybe I wouldn't want it after smelling it anyway... so everything I eat is quick and easy. I went to the shops to get some more fruit and yoghurt and to get some frozen dinners as a back up. Last night I just had more shitty white bread, butter and vegemite.

I had a big crying session when Duncy came home, because I just worry about not eating well. I want to do everything I can for Beanie to be healthy, especially this early on, and I feel like I'm doing a really bad job. Where is all the broccoli? And all the MEAT? Also, I got some cough lollies and had two, then discovered that the fake sugar in it (aspartim or something?) is really bad in pregnancy. So I felt like I was doing a bunch of bad things. AND I can't do ANY exercise at all... :(

Anyway, poor me! hahaha. Wouldn't give it up for the world though. I can't imagine how people who feel like this could POSSIBLY work! So I'm hell lucky in that way!

I think I'm going to buy one of these: http://www.doulashop.com/products/jewelry/babys-best-bola.html

Thanks for sticking by me, gorgeous people! xxx

A:( I was like that in shops as well, I felt faint and dizzy and surreal and sea-sicky. I had to leave several shops. I stayed in the house for about 4 months, having an afternoon nap every day. Even walking to my maternity appoinments was a nightmare, I would be sick constantly all the time there, then I would be sick in my appointment about 3 times because the heating in there was so hot, and you get that horrible hotheaded sicky feeling. I was cooking a lot when I got preggers with Lily, and I was really into sewing and stuff, but all that stopped. I know people say that its hard getting up in the night with bubba and the sleepness nights drive you crazy, but it was absolutely no problem at all to me- It was a complete breeze compared to pregnancy! So when it seems like it will never end just remember that it won't be that long till its all over and feeling awful is just a distant memory x I didn't want any more kids after Charlie, not because I didn't want another baby, it was because I didn't want another blooming pregnancy. Glad I did tho :D. Now lol.

You are not a bad mom/mum already because you accidentally ate some artificial sweetener!!!!! I think its sweet that you are so worried, but honestly.... Its okay!!!!! Hope Dunc spoils you when he isn't on call x

I love the pregnancy chime necklace :)

xxxxxbig hugs to youxxxxx

Hi sweetie. That pendant looks like a cute idea. Are you sure it's not a form of baby torture though? Just kidding! I almost feel guilty now about having such lovely pregnancies. I ended up looking like a whale though, if that's any consolation! Try not to worry so much about everything. Sometimes I think we over-think. It's good that you are concerned about eating well for your baby's health but please try not to worry (obsess) to the extent that it affects your own mental health. A happy & relaxed Mum-to-be is as important I think. You are not a mum who will be neglectful. You're not out there doing drugs, smoking, drinking, partying hard & eating rubbish. You're smart & doing the very best that you can, especially considering how ill you feel. Relax sweets and enjoy this lovely experience. Even the sickness you will look back on & laugh about. You are going to be a wonderful mum, just like your own. Sending you some of my motherly hugs , xoxo Cate

AHi Ruthie! Sounds like my experience is pretty much the same as yours, except that I'm not actually throwing up :) I also was cooking a lot, writing for many hours every day, etc... but now all of that is down the toilet. I have my big writers festival workshop next weekend, so I need to get prepared for that *sigh*. Good to know that all the other stuff was a 'complete breeze' compared to this! hehehe. I'll let you know, eh? ;)

Cate - Hahaha- maybe it IS a form of baby torture! :) I think it's similar how babies go to sleep very easily if ou put them on your chest and they hear your heartbeat - that familiar sound... haha. I think the pendant is just cute, anyway, so I think I'll get one - not sure if it will work or not! Might drop the hint to my family at christmas or something :) I know I shouldn't worry so much about Beanie, and you are totally right about how being happy and relaxed is AS, if not more, important. I can't WAIT until the second trimester, where everyone says things get SO much better!

________

WEIGH DAY:
Hmm. 80.9kg. Lost 1.3kg in the last five days (yeah I did a sneaky weigh in on monday...) . The old me would be freaking out that I am so close to the seventies! The new me is bummed that I am losing... but, I am taking multi vites and I still certainly have enough fat stores, so I'm trying not to be too worried about it.

The first in the pair is me last week, at seven weeks - the next is this morning, at eight weeks. A teeeeny difference, if any. Apparently I shouldn't expect to show until about 15 weeks...

Today was a lot better :) I don't know if it's largely just because hubby is around, but I felt SO much happier. We went out to my friend Iida's house (with her hubby and her 3 month old girl) for 'dinner' last night. Those guys are the only ones here that know I'm preggers, and I told her I might not be able to eat anything at all) and I actually managed to eat what she put in front of me. Not all of it, but a lot! She's great - she also had quite a period of feeling shite, so she made what she liked to eat - tomato, mozarella and basil salad, and wholemeal pasta with homemade pesto and pine nuts. It was all really fresh and with pretty subtle tastes so it worked well. PHEW!

More exciting was to watch Dunc play with their little bubba. He is so cute with her! :) SO CUTE! :)

FOOD TODAY - was good - I had an appetite up until dinner. Then the thought of veggies made me want to puke again.
- plain pancake with mixed berries
- 1/2 cup hot milk
- 1/2 cup of vegetable and lentil soup (I made a huge pot and put the rest in the fridge / freezer)
- leftover roasted veggies - 2 baby potatoes, a bit of pumpkin, 1/2 carrot, 3 cloves roasted garlic
- 2/3 grilled chicken breast, 2 slices of wholemeal toast with butter and vegemite
- 1/2 orange

AHeya sweetie.

DO NOT worry that you are losing. I lost like 10lb before i started gaining! and i wasn't watching my weight! If you feel sick all the time you are obviously not gonna eat like normal and that IS NORMAL. on't stress it sweetie.
With the first baby, no, you don't show for quite a while especially if you are fit (like you) as your stomach muscles are strong. You will lose your waist pretty soon though and clothes feel uncomfortable. Don't worry though, soon enough you will need help getting out of the sofa lol. :)

Glad hubby is home and that makes you feel better :)

AHi KATE you skinny thing! :) Ah, you are totally right, of course. I will have a little freak if I happen to get into the 70s while I am pregnant though.... that will be TOO WEIRD! :) And I feel like I need help getting up off the sofa already! haha. Thanks for stopping by!

BIG NEWS!

Well, for me, anyway.
My Avatar has always been the same since forever, since first came on this site in 2007. It has always been of my dream body - the thing I hope to achieve. But now I have decided to change it. That's not my priority at the moment - my priority is to be healthy and happy. So I'm putting up a pic instead where I remember being really happy with who I am,feeling pretty and feeling healthy. So that, for me, is a big change :)

AFOOD TODAY - much better. I ATE! Appetite in the morning, as usual, was shite. But I got there in the end.
- small bowl of all-bran with hot skim milk
- 1 slice wholegrain bread with bitter and vegemite
- 1/2 packet macaroni cheese
- 1 apple
- 1 bbq chicken breast, a little pasta salad, tabhouli, 1 small sausage
- 1 tiny slice apple cake with custard.

Hi Joh. Just passing by. I've haven't got anything helpful to say a preggie person. I've never been preggers. Just take good care of yourself. I hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy and baby when she arrives. :D

AAndrea Thanks for stopping by! Well, I'm still me, and I'm still trying just to be really healthy, so nothing has changed in that respect :) Thanks for the well-wishes - funny you said 'she'... everyone seems to think it'll be a he... :) xx

A
Well today seems the reverse of every other day so far - Apetite fine in the morning and turning to shite as we speak. We have one of our best friends visiting for a few days and he and Dunc have gone with some of our other friends to Oktoberfest for the day and are staying the night. I planned all sorts of grand healthy things for my dinner at home alone, but of course, it is not working!

So the best I can do is put some potatoes on the boil and defrost a chicken breast and hope the rest will sort itself out

Haven't been very healthy today, but have had my appetite back for a bit, so was enjoying the eating! Woke up at 6am and had to eat to stop feeling awful.

FOOD SO FAR TODAY

- 2/3 small wholemeal bread role with cottage cheese and tomato (6am)
- plain pancake with maple syrup (10am)
- small serve soba noodles with sweet soy sauce and sesame oil, with edamame beans (1pm)
- onion paratha(3pm)

That's probably a million calories already!

AHeya hotstuff

No wonder your appitite yesterday morning was shite........eating all-bran!! yuck  that's enough to make a non pregnant me wanna puke!!!! And having it with hot milk :puke: Sorry couldn't resist using that one. :smilielol5:

I totally love your avatar photo......I forget how totally stunning you are. You're way better than the old avatar.

Oh, and you have a boy. I am gonna bet a big fat chocolate cake on it!!!!

Love and hugs

AI'm glad your appetite has come back! Maybe you could eat foods with disguised vegetables... Are you totally off the idea of soup, cos that would be a good one. Also lasagne, and spag bol, and curries and stuff have hidden veggies.

How are you feeling?

My bestie was induced yesterday morning! Still no sign of the baby though!

AJust checking in my dear...better to eat anything at all then nothing at all....so don't be to hard on yourself... :grouphug:

So I was prego in 95 through 97 basically and really didn't have access to the vast info that you do...we didn't have internet in the house till 2001 ...and honestly thank god....I am so type A and such a google addict for any illness or booboo...I would have drove myself nuts...so just do the best you can...and don't worry if its not what the 10000000000 x billlion ebooks and articles say you should do.

You did the best thing possible already for that sweet little one...you got healthy first!!! xoxox :)
