Losing Weight in the Land of Chocolate and Cheese!

I brought a couple of snacks with me (A+ for organisation!) so I wouldn't fall into the doughnut pit... So I actually had a decent day, I think.

Achievement:
- bringing snacks
- saying no to free brownies and free strawberry ice cream
- not feeling left out when everyone else was drinking a lot
- not eating the chips that they put on my plate with the chicken wrap
- not agreeing to share half a chocolate bar wiht my husband when he only wanted half, and not taking a bite when he offered me some again later on (though he got told off for that, haha).
Well done! I only meant do Cohens for about 5 days. I don't wish to go back on it for any length of time either but it's great to kick a few kilos almost instantly. I will very soon-it goes off my stomach straight away. You're doing really well in this beautiful land of chocolate & cheese that you are living in. It's nice to catch up with you sweets xo Cate

:) Thanks for dropping by, Cate! Yeah... protein... I know... but protein is either really expensive or tends to be fattening.... I'm getting there though.

Opinions wanted!

SO in completely other news, I'm doing this photography challenge and day 1 is a self portrait. I've taken a bunch, but completely can't decide. PLEASE let me know which you think is the best! Not necessarily the best photo of me, but the best photo. :)

I've just had a little nosey on the Cohens diet, and I was surprised to see that its based on blood type. How do you know what blood type you are? Why do you lose weight so fast when its not hugely calorie restricted?

Well done on saying no to brownies, I know how much you love them!

I like the first and second pictures the best, I think the second one has a really interesting pose, which makes it quite quirky, and I love the colours in the first one, the blue background really brings out your eyes, and the red lippy is a great contrast. Your skin and hair are pale against the other colours, and you look gorgeous. I love your photos. Are you doing/have you done a photography course?

Hi hi! Yeah I love them.... they are my killer... :)
Well, don't be fooled - it is masssssively calorie restricted. I figured out that I was eating a total of about 350 calories a day, but it is so highly monitored, and they fgive you lists of foods specific to you - foods that will keep you alive on just that amount. It hopes to retrain your metabolism and reset a bunch of hormones. They do blood tests throughout... It bloody works! It is tough, especially at the start, and it's freaking expensive... but it works!

That festival sounds wonderful...it is so on my "bucket list" to make it to Europe someday...hubby and I are thinking for our 20th in 4 years...so maybe.

As far as the photo...I love the simplicity and the tones of #3. What kind of gear do you use? I am an Olympus e-410 user right now..would love to upgrade soon..but its such an investment. My photography is more digital art..I am an over processor/editor and get called out on it from my photography forum..but its what I like...so its what I do. ..you know the "eye of the beholder" and all that crap..haha.

Tetemcg: I think it's so funny that you like the more natural-toned one when you say you are an over-processor :) Some people have told me that I always use too much contrast... but I like that!

So my hubby and I are a bit of a photo-team - I do the composition and shooting, with the post-production, and he does all the technology and the camera- set up. White balance, ISO, etc. And the decisions regarding the camera itself :) So we have a Canon, but it's about 6 years old now, and he's itching to get a new one. We'll see!

Hehehe I noticed that too! Thanks! Not sure if it's necessarily a good thing that I post SO MUCH!

____________
FOOD TODAY 1456
- Milk coffee (130), 2 slices of sprouted rye bread (180)with a scraping of Philadelphia (20)
- 3 cherries (6)
- leftover pasta (180g cooked: 172Cal)with bolognese sauce (263)
- Vegie and tofu Thai yellow curry (340) with Cous cous (113g cooked: 125Cal)
- 100g chocolate ice cream (wasn't I going to stop buying that?) (220)

Hahahahahahaha :waving:Hi darlin! I knew I'd get on here and find something from you worried about me. I'm still around! I Have been so busy, but also our internet connection has fallen apart since we 'upgraded'... so it's sporadic at best. That plateau ain't gonna discourage me! :)

Food yesterday was really good, I think, probably because I was so busy - writing group, german lessons, physio, CAKE concert :hurray: - they gave me a tree! Really! And Dunc caught the drum stick! AWESOME)

FOOD YESTERDAY:

- Small bircher muesli (240) and milk coffee (130)
- rooibus tea with 1/2 tsp sugar (12)
- Grilled asparagus with fresh tomato basil sauce and a baked potato (350)
- Greek restaurant dinner pre-concert: 1Tbsp each of hommus, babaghanoush, tzatziki and some other dip with fish; very very small slice pita bread, 3 1/2 lamb kofta balls with tzatziki

The dinner was YUM, but my Kofta came with sliced pan-fried potatoes, when I asked for a salad instead... but they were so busy and we were rushed so I didn't change it. Didn't eat it though... just felt majorly veggie deprived. I had a yummy veggie lunch though.

EXERCISE:
well... technically none... but I did stand and bop like CRAZY at the concert (though no jumping... it's tough!) for nearly four hours...

MEEEEEEEEEEEEANWHILE

Today!
Weigh in day.... I have seen my weight go down little by little since Rainbow did her anti-plateau dance, but I haven't been getting my hopes up because I know it can fluctuate. BUT it's weigh day!

So today I am 85.0kg.
YAHHHHHHREEEEEEEEEPA!
Plateau busted!

Just in case you aren't aware, that's only 100grams away from me being 84 point something. Holy schamozzel. :) :) :)

:D I'm so glad, I was actually seriously panicking!!!

You got a tree at a cake concert!!!!!!!! Tell me more!!!!!!!!!

YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!! Plateau BUSTED. And remember, now your a skinny minnie on top, every single gram will be coming off your legs :) Only 0.1 of your bmi to go before you can declare yourserlf to be a totally healthy weight!

Think I'm going to try a couple of greeks things next week, yesterdays dinner sounds lovely.

Every single gram BETTER come off my legs! :D And I KNOW! Only 0.1 until a healthy BMI! woah.... spins me out.... And to think that I did this without doing anything drastic...

Yes! A tree! So we went to see Cake, and the whole time there was a tree on the stage next to him, in a pot, about 2/3 his size. We were all wondering 'what the hell, maybe there's a new tree song or something', but no, he said that this tour they will be giving a tree away at every concert. Didn't explain why or anything, hahaha. RANDOM! So there was a lot of build up, and eventually he asked for someone in the audience to guess what kind of tree it is, and then we can have it. But he would only pick very polite looking people. LOL! So apparently I'm very polite, and quite the botanist, and said it was a Beech tree :) So I got it! hahahaha. Awesome. So now I have a cake tree.

I went to netball training! :D :D :D TAKE THAT, stupid injured body! I'm going back for a while to do the coaching, as our coach is away for 4 weeks. I've done a lot of coaching and umpiring before (umpiring was my uni job) so it's awesome that I can still stay involved. And not run. Or jump. Gr. :svengo:After netball I met my man at a friend's birthday get-together, without realising that I had eaten barely anything and was HUUUUUUNGRY. The options were not TOOO terrible, as far as party food goes, but I really noticed my lack of veg.

So... Not the greatest day food-wise... I had no vegetables, which is SERIOUSLY unlike me. I had nothing healthy. But... I also didn't have very much... Am worried I will wake up tomorrow famished.
_____

FOOD (please refrain from judgement. I know it was bad. Bad decisions everywhere.
- 7am: Soy latte (130) and a low-fat blueberry muffin (320: funny how all my bad days start like this.)
- 1pm: Cheese and onion muffin (yes really)
- 10pm: 4 home-made mini sausage rolls with sauce and 2 mini chicken satay skewers.

Making up for my day of grazing with a distinct lack of grazing...

REALLY no idea about cals today. Which makes me annoyed at myself. I think it'd be okay though.... not great, but probably still within my limits. So little food, so calorie dense..

First off what is netball? lol and secondly...it seems like the whole forum doesn't want to deal with calorie counting this week..its a running theme...me included :ack2:

Tetemcg: I think it's so funny that you like the more natural-toned one when you say you are an over-processor :) Some people have told me that I always use too much contrast... but I like that!

I know.. lol...that's me a contradiction of myself through and through :p

Hiya Tetemcg! Thanks for dropping by again :) Netball is a freaking religion in Australia. New Zealand too. South Africa and the UK also play... It's hard to find players outside of these areas, so that means I'm part of the Swiss netball team now! It's full of expats. :) I used to play in my state team for under 19s and under 21s - I'm the goal shooter - Stressful! It's a little bit like basketball but the main rules are no stepping, no contact on the person or the ball (when someone else is touching it), and you must defend the ball from 3 feet away.

Okay, so I've been slack with counting my calories the past two days - I'm back. No more of that. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact AMY is away on holiday, and she is the calorie counting GURU:Angel_anim:

So I think my stomach has shrunk. Just had a bowl of soup and a slice of rye bread and I am STUFFED. The Mission: Don't stretch it out! Keep it little! hmm... wonder how long that will last...

Thanks for visiting my journal, matey!

Netball, God, I haven't played that since I was at school. And that was a looong time ago, cos I'm ruly old. In fact, I'm so old, that in my day it was still called women's basketball, actual women's basketball not being played here then, as far as I know.

Are you weighing everything before you cook / eat it? Or are you just estimating?
I'm weighing most things. I've got a set of digital kitchen scales with a flat glass plate thing, so it's a simple matter to just put my plate or bowl on the scales, so I can weigh as I add things. Things like meat or chicken I just estimate from the package weight.

I am so impressed at the 20.1 kilos you have lost! Keep up the good work!

:) Hi Matey! Women's basketball??? How horrific! Oh it is so much more complicated, and better, than that! Thanks for stopping by and for the compliment! Those are always welcome. hehe.

GUESSSS WHAAAAT?!?!?!
My gorgeous Finnish friend? The preggers one that I go swimming in the lake with? I wrote her an email an hour ago to see if she wants to go swimming tomorrow, because she's due in a week, so we're running out of time!

Her reply: "Pretty sure my waters broke..! So probably no swim tomorrow!" EEEEEEEEEEEEEK! So excited!

Now, inspired by the lovely Rainbow, here's a pic of my shopping today. Two in fact. Ruthie! See all that fruit! I'm such a good girl :)

So glad you are coaching!!!!! And not just coaching any old team, coaching the blooming Swiss netball team with your lovely friends :D Must still be frustrating for you not being able to participate, but at least you are still involved!

I didn't even think of it like that, but... hmmmm our calories have definitely gone AWOL with Amy, the queen of calorie counting. She even counts gum! That is very damn calorie dedicated.

I think the shrunken portion of your stomach has been sent to me! Mines got bigger and hungrier.

Your bad-eating-days-muffin-pattern is naughty madam. Although I can't talk. Every day I don't exercise I eat worse. We need to change our thinking of "messed up slightly in the morning, so allowed to mess up the rest of the day" thing. You ate hardly anything! I wouldn't be surprised if you grew wings and became a parrot, as your eating like a bird!

And a cheese and onion MUFFIN? Hmmmmm!!!!!!
