Cooo-eeeeeeyyyy- I'm baaaack!

You have done brilliant today. I hope to have a day like yours tomorrow to make up for the god awful food I've been eating over the past few days.

Onwards and upwards!!!! x

Yay! My girl's back in town! :seeya: Can't wait to hear all about your trip -
I've been wondering if there were any of those fresh donuts you mentioned once upon a time... my Pad Thai was YUM, by the way, and it used the leftover shredded cabbage and carrot from the vietnamese spring rolls, so there you go - I've organised your dinners for you for the next few nights. hahaha. :)

xxxxx Nice to see you back here, lovely.

THIS MORNING - I weighed myself on wii-fit like I do every morning (I know I know - and I wonder how they get away with telling you you have to weigh every day when so much advice is to the contrary). And overnight, I lost 1.2kg. INSANITY! I know I'll go back up again tomorrow, but it's crazy!

1 POINT 2 KGS? Your right, that is craziness, take that, plateau :p You never know, maybe it will last! Fingers crossed!

I had something similar to pad thai tonight, maybe it was subconcious!

My supermarket doesn't do rice paper, so I think that I will eat all asian food this week, and go and have a wander round Chinatown and stock up in the asian supermarkets. I love Chinatown, and haven't been there for yonks.

Ooooh yes, and your friend (Olsa?) has had her baby by now! Have you been to visit? Is it a boy or a girl?

Asian food rocks! It is so tasty and so often is really good for you! (eg - see my bit written below!)

Yeah, Iida has had her little bubby! So so cute! So little! It's a little girl, named Lilja (an old Finnish name). I got so many cuddles, and my man and I got to write in her baby book as 'first visitors'. :)

I've been feeling really healthy lately, despite my major lack of meat. I've been eating meat only about once or twice a week lately, with no real reason. I just haven't really felt like it, and have been more enticed by vegetarian options. Which is interesting in itself. BUT I have always been pretty low on iron (I once needed to go to hospital and have infusions for a week it was so bad) so I've been trying to eat lots of spinach, etc. This is why it surprises me that I've been feeling so good - usually whenever I stop eating so much meat, I start feeling really tired and awful.

So I did a bit of research today about how to get good amounts of iron into my body through means aside from meat. And guess what I discovered?

ALL HAIL TO THOSE TASTY LITTLE SUCKERS: THE EDAMAME BEANS! These little fresh boiled raw soya beans that I have been guzzling like mad have about twice the amount of iron in them as a beef steak of the same weight! AWESOME! Those beans are my saviour. The Asian supermarket across the road that stocks them is my saviour. :) This makes me stupidly happy. :)

It's Weigh Day
Holy cow...
I'm 83 point something. I haven't been that since I was nineteen. Insano! I'm so happy! And my man his his milestone today too - his BMI hit 22 point something, so we are both happy skinny people! :) hehe.

So officially I am 83.8kg. I lost 1.2kg this week. :D YAHOO!

Hooray for happy skinny people!

All the best baby names begin withh "lil" :) My best friend is pregnant :D She only has two months to go, I'm so excited! She is having a boy, and keeping the name secret from everyone till the birth so no-one can change her mind (Humph). Which I think is a bit unfair, as she persuaded me against calling Lily "Kiki". I still love the name Kiki though. I will have to have another girl :)

And I can't believe that edamame beans have twice the iron per weight as beef! That is great. And you were craving and eating exactly the right thing that your body needed :)

I was looking at youtube videos yesterday about how to make your own sushi, I think I'm going to give that a go as well. Even though the bf isn't keen on the idea. I've settled for shop bough sushi for tonight. Tomorrow I am going to chinatown, baby, yeah! Will get some of those magic beans for sure :)

RAINBOWGeez, girl, we must have some weird psychic thing going on... pretty much every time (okay, I'm exaggerating) I get on here to write something, I write it, publish it, and then realise at the same time you wrote me a message! So then I have to go back and edit my post and write back to you... I swear it happens ALL THE TIME!

Anyhoo... MAGIC BEANS! They are awesome :) You should make a video of your first attempt at making sushi! It will be hilarious, I guarantee you ;) haha. The BF doesn't like sushi? Crazy man. And yeah, you did a good job with the 'Lily' business - love it. 'Kiki' is so cute too! Now for the segue (oh my god, I've never written that word before... it looks so bizarre... 'seg way')...
_____________

So it's that time of the month. Which usually is crap, but this time it gets me excited :) This means that, if I manage to get an ob/gyn appointment, the neither-confirmed-nor-denied incident may come into play very soon :)

I'm so excited!

Okay. So I'll confirm it. I'm not pregnant, but my man and I have been preparing to try (I'm just super-organised, okay? Not a control freak ;)) by doing things like no alcohol, less caffeine, general healthiness, pregnancy vitamins, etc. BUT the exciting bit today? I finally got my first book delivered today :) :) YAY!

So off I trotted to the supermarket / health food store and got myself a few supplies. A vitamin drink fortified with iron (just samples at the moment - it is SO expensive!), coffee substitute (which I've tried before and actually like - but only with soy milk...) and CEREAL, which I HATE, but I'm going to try and retrain myself.

GOAL for this week: Get into the habit of cereal for breakfast. And attempt not the hate it. Have some berried with it or something. Just try. I'll save money and probably be more productive with my day...

Lost another 0.2. today. Damn, I'm really making up for that plateau. AND this is at the start of my period, where last month I was putting on loads. BUT my parents are coming Saturday morning for 3 weeks, so I guess things may change a bit there... we'll see. They are both very healthy people, but we'll have to go for fondue, etc.

Forgot to do my FOOD YESTERDAY (1570Cal - I thought it was a lot more, so I was surprised I lost)
- plain crepe with nothing on it at all. yum i love them. (190)
- milk coffee (150)
- slice of spinach and feta quiche with green tea (530)
- cappuccino (120)and a slice of chocolate and fig loaf (160)
- leftover veggie pad thai (mostly cabbage, very little noodles) (240)
- 1/2 cup leftover spiced wedding rice (170) with 2 small moroccan chicken tenderloins in a lemon cinnamon tomato sauce. (130)

Wanna know something sad? Sad as in 'loser-y' sad... I woke up at 3.30am and couldn't go back to sleep for hours because I was thinking about my new breakfast plan, and how determined I am to make it work. So I just had my breakfast, and it was good! :) This is going to happen.

:D Yeah I've noticed that too lol.

Glad you enjoyed the cereal! I always ate in the morning for concentration purposes before college even though I didn't feel like it. And plus most cereals are fortified with iron, which can only be a good thing. Do a lot of people in Switzerland have trouble getting enough iron? As there isn't much in the way of red meat availiable?

I obsess over little things for ages too. Food, my secret idea and home accessories and furnishings mainly haha. I always find myself zoning out.

Oooh, wow! Fingers crossed and legs uncrossed that the undenied thing will happen this month!

:D And your parents are coming over!!!! Bet you can't wait to see them! I hope them being over doesn't get in the way of baby making :)

Congrats on the hubsters healthy BMI and your awesome weigh-in...to celebrate you should dine over a big ole bowl if special k! LOL... but seriously kudos for starting a healthy morning routine...its going to benefit you so much.

hehehe 'fingers crossed and legs uncrossed' - well let's hope my parents' visit doesn't put a spanner in the works.

Thanks for the props for my breakfast ritual! I hope I manage to stick to it. :)

FOOD TODAY - so it seems all my hunger, which has been surprisingly dormant, hit me today.
Breakfast - 30g special K (173) with 75g skim milk (24) and red currants (10); milk coffee (120)
Lunch - veggie casserole wrapped in some filo pastry(304)
Snack - 1 american style hot-cake with a dusting of powdered sugar (190)
another snack1 leftover Moroccan chicken tenderloin (85) with 1/4 cup rice (80)
Dinner - pasta and edamame beans with olive oil, garlic, herbs and parmesan (340)

WOAH! Only 1326 Calories! I thought I had HEAPS! I'm going to allow myself a square of dark chocolate :)

Fingers crossed & legs uncrossed ;) I like it! A little tip from me, via my SIL, many moons ago(over 30- ouch). Quote-"Do you get out of bed & go to the toilet after sex? Just roll over & go to sleep. Give the little buggers a chance!" It worked for me. I was pregnant within 2 months! Not that it has been confirmed that you are trying or anything :D
xoxo Cate

Hi Cate! Thanks for the visit and for the sage advice :) Yeah, I have visions of me doing the shoulder-stands that I learnt in yoga a while back, haha.

So my parents arrive early tomorrow morning. YAY!!! I dare say I won't be on here as much during their visit, but I'll try to at least write my food in. We're headed to the Tour de France for a week, though, leaving monday, so I will definitely not have a chance to visit then. I hope my food options will exist of more than just baguettes and cheese... and pizza. But we have rented a campervan this time, so I should be able to whip up something half decent :)

Oooh, a campervan! That sounds fun!

I went to the tour de france a couple of years ago. I was shocked at how quickly the bikes rode past in one great big mass. I thought "is that it" lol. Mind you, I was right at the start :) I was whacking people on the bum with a giant foam hand. We had such a laugh. One of the best nights/mornings of my life actually. There were helium baloons everywhere and we were all sucking in the helium and singing "hi-ho hi-ho, its off to work we go" at one point.

Enjoy your parents being over :)

Hi DM
Do you remember me saying a few days ago that i was gonna have a read thru your diary? Well, i've just finished it and it is awesome!!!
I had managed to read up to about page 8 before today but i finish work early on a friday and my man and my boy went out (Jack, our son, is doing a show in a town about an hour away) at 4pm and i just stuck my pj's on, made a cuppa and curled up on the sofa and read thru the rest of it. It felt like being curled up reading a really good book!!!! You and sunshine are just so funny, you make me proper laugh out loud.
Your diary is so inspiring and made me see that alot of the things i do and think about food isn't 'just me', and your rants are so familiar. Your honesty about your ups and downs is amazing. Oh, and by the way, your photo's are great. You have a beautiful shape and well done on the BMI.

You're a writer. That is awesome. I would love to write, and i have tried but i just can't seem to get what's going on in my head down without thinking 'that's shite'. I have an outline of a whole book written down but thats as far as that's got.

Hope you have a great time with your parents. I will definatly continue with reading your diary, you're really motivational. I've gotta have a read of Rainbow's one too now lol.

I'M HEEEEEEERE!!!!!!!! Don't panic, Ruthie. But come Monday, I won't be here for a week. Realised I probably won't have any internet even... BOO! What am I going to do without you all? How will I ever catch up with everyone's goings on? I'm usually on here ALL THE TIME! Dear dear....

Katie, you are a freaking LEGEND for reading all that! You made me go back to the start and have a look at what I was writing, and it's so weird... it doesn't sound like me at all... And it seemed like pretty much every single day I said 'Had a bad day today'... haha. Thanks SO MUCH for saying all those beautiful things! :)

So My parents arrived this morning :) :) :) Love having them here! It is a strange dynamic, I have to admit, as they have never come to stay at MY place before, so they have to live by our rules (ie just leave the dishes to dry) and be guests in our house. I think my Dad has to kind of grab himself sometimes to remind himself that this isn't HIS house. hehe. We managed to get out all of our big news during a walk along the lake, so I'm a lot less anxious now. They know that we want to stay here and that we are plannign babies and, either they are great actors, or they are really happy for us. Mum admitted after a while, when it was just the two of us, that yeah it makes her a bit sad, but what more can a mummy want than for her babies to be as happy as I am. :Angel_anim:

Could talk forever about my family and Zurich, but onto FOOD.

Did great today! My dad seems to be an all day grazer and expects the house to be filled with chocolates and pastries, but I have none here. Okay, I lie - I have an emergency dark chocolate lindt supply that he has now eaten. So I said to him to pop down to the supermarket and grab whatever snacks he thinks he'll want. Enter LOADS of chocolate, LOADS of expensive cheeses and fancy spiced nuts, etc. Everyone feasted on this over expensive wine, while I had water and edamame, with some berries. And I didn't feel left out. :) This is huge for me - this is like my big test. :hurray:

FOOD TODAY
- French toast with a little grated cheese, milk coffee
- 6 mulberries
- 15 edamame beans and a small shaving of gruyere cheese
- 150g cooked spetzli (like gnocchi a bit) with 2 chicken tenderloins cooked in paprika and mushroom white wine sauce, 1tsp low fat sour cream
- tea with soy milk

Not sure about cals, and don't have time to figure it out, but reckon I'm good!

Hi Joh, Well done you!! It will be hard for your parents, being guests in your home. I know what it feels like for me. I almost have to sit on my hands. LOL.
Have a lovely week with them. They sound such great parents, hence their lovely daughter! They will only want what's best for you and want you to be happy I'm sure.
xoxo Cate.
