As for the questions...

-- How much weight do you want to lose? 15 pounds

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? Christmas

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? returning to a healthier diet and 4-5 workouts a week

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? Being able to be comfortable in my clothes will be plenty of support, but my roommate is looking to loose weight as well.

-- How realistic is your goal? Its what I was 2 months ago, so pretty realistic.

-- When will you start? today :)

As far as the basics, I'm 20 years old, a senior in college. Life is crazy with all the work and applying to grad schools. I'm going to be an audiologist in a few years, which is exciting because I find all of that ridiculousy fun. All the craziness makes it hard to get to the gym enough, but I think i've analyzed my schedule enough so that I've figured it out. I'm 5'7.5" and now weigh 140. I was 125 all last year up until two months ago, so although I'm told that it looks better and not to lose that much weight again, I'm used to having that body and this extra weight makes me feel really bulky and self conscious.

I know my problem has been eating, I eat waaay too much. I used to be a really really healthy eater, very picky about what I put in my body. well over the summer my boyfriend passed away from an illness, which was, obviously, extremely traumatic. Well after that I started eating a lot of comfort foods to make me feel better, wrong method, i know. Well the problem then was I started aquiring a taste for all the not so healthy food I had erased from my mind for so long. Well 15 pounds later I know something has to change. I know what I should eat its just me limiting the calories.

Based on the figures I've read around the forum, maintenance is 14/pound. then subtract 20-30% and that is your weight loss calorie intake. Well that puts me around 1400 for weight loss, so that is what I'm going for. I am going to try and make most of those fruit/veggie calories. I'm vegetarian so the protein thing is always harder, but hopefully with a lot of tofu, beans, almonds etc I'll be good.

Well thanks to anyone who read through all that rambling. I'm looking forward to meeting people. I am excited about this, I'm ready for a change.

So I did pretty well yesterday, and my reward...down to 138.6! Ha I know something that little might as well be water, but its a step in the right direction and is definitely motivation. Fitday says I have to lose 1.36 pounds a week to get back to where I was by Christmas. I think thats pretty doable.

I won't get into every meal yesterday, but I stayed within my range (1372-1568) so I'm pleased with myself. I even almost started another binge but I stopped myself so that was a pretty big deal. I've been trying hard to get all my protein in. Its just so hard, though. I ate a bunch of protein rich foods yesterday (cottage cheese, yogurt, tofu, almonds, black beans) and still was under for the day. I think I'm going to have to get a shake or something to supplement.

I did my usual workout at the gym except instead of running straight through on the treadmill, I did 20 minutes with 2 minutes on an incline and 3 minutes level. That knocked me out, it was a great workout. That was followed by 30 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes resistence. I really have to learn free weights. I'm taking the GRE's on friday so I don't exactly have time to research that, but after thats over with I'm going to try.

Here's to another good day...

Thanks!

Ah as much as I loved the gym today, some people are really gross. I can't tell you how many sweaty mats there were, it was a process just to find a clean space to stretch. Don't get me wrong, its a great facility, but for crying out loud wipe your machines when you're done!

Okay now that I got that out, its time to let the GRE's take over my life. If there are any fellow college seniors out there, you know how much of a pain they are. I can't wait until friday when they are over!!! (then there's just resumes, essays, applications, and recommendations...so much for a carefree senior year, grad school may be the death of me)

138 today. I can't work out today. Bummer. Busy day of babysitting, class, and living in the library.

I will throw my meal plan out there for the day...

Breakfast:
- coffee (obviously) - with splenda
- 1 c multigrain cereal with .5 c light, plain soymilk and 1/3 banana
- plum

meal 2:
- carnation instant breakfast
- 10 baby carrots

meal 3:
- .5 c rice, sweet corn, and black bean salad with 1c baby greens
- pumpkin muffin (ones I've made and frozen, only 93 calories)

Dinner:
- not sure about this one. Our guy friends always have us over for dinner on wednesdays, so I'm not sure what they are making. Usually they are pretty good at making something healthy, if not they always have a salad so I'll be loading up on that.

late night:
- I guess this depends on dinner, but I usually have a few scoops of cottage cheese with grapes.

Okay now that I'm officially late for babysitting, I'm off. Good luck everyone!
