Loseforreal - My journey

Ya know Margaret, I want to update my ticker. lol. I guess I should just go ahead and do it. The only reason why I don't is because I might have a morning where I've gained, because of water weight or something... and then it will discourage me. I guess if that happens though I don't have to update my ticker. Hmm.. I dunno how to do it.

Do you update your ticker if you've gained weight?

Jennifer,

For me, I think weighing myself first thing in the morning works good ( after I pee, of course!). Seems like it's later in the day when I retain water. So, if I weigh myself in the am and two hours later, if I weigh the same thing, then I know that's the correct weight. If it were me, I'd update my ticker. :)

You are doing great on your loss!

Hi Jennifer

I update my ticker either way really. I really dont get disheartened if it goes up a touch - that is just part of the game - but it is so nice to see it coming down. When I post on the weighing every day club I post a span of weights over 10 to 14 days so I always see a nice downward trend. Today my weight is up slightly but it really doesnt bother me.

If you dont want to update when the weight goes up - that is your choice. It really doesnt matter - but updating the ticker is part of the broadcasting celebration of a weight loss.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Hey You!! Congrats on the weight loss!!! I don't change my ticker every time my weight changes, I usually wait until it's at least a 5lb difference, it's just the way I do it.

I think your doing very well. Stick to your goal and you will make it!!:grouphug:

Thanks everyone for stopping by. :) I'll check out your diaries tonight/tomorrow. Just reporting in for tonight. Hope everyone had a good day.

Yesterday was a bad food day. It was okay, until I made a hamburger that was just way too thick and beefy. It wasn't lean either. It put my calories for the day over 2000. I think my cals were around 2100 actually. :( That hamburger made me so sick/full that I didn't feel like exercising. I tossed and turned last night with anxiety... I'm pretty sure it was because of that stupid hamburger. So today I tried to make my calories lower and exercise more to make up for it.

My weight this morning went up to 285.6.

Food for today:

Breakfast: Waffles, Blueberries, Syrup (200 cals)
Snack: Yogurt Bar (140 cals)
Lunch: Turkey Sandwich, 100 cal chips (285 cals)
Snack: Sugar-free chocolate (84 cals)
Dinner: Pork Chop, Green Beans, Half of Baked Potato (375 cals)
Snack: Healthy choice Ice Cream (130 cals)

Total: 1214 cals

Exercise: 30 Minutes Walk N Tone, 10 Minutes Taebo Fat Blaster

Water: 1 1/2 Liters

Hi Jennifer

I often get punished on the scales too if I overeat or do less exercise. For me weighing every day forms the link between what I do (food / exercise) and what I weigh. Weighing every day does not suit everyone but for me forging that link between food, exercise and weight is really important. Call me slow but I am an expert at kidding myself that magically I can get away with being tempted and not put on weight (you dont live your life at 294 pounds without being pretty convincing with this:troll:). It helps me to try and be strong the next time that I am tempted. It might not work - but if I resist once that is one less problem to deal with.

The good thing is that you did do the exercise - even though you didnt want to do it.

Also - you know that by staying focused any gain from that hamburger will be gone before you know it.

Take care

More Water

I found you!
I have read that if you up your water intake the scales will moveback down. Usually it takes a day or two, but you don't have to cut back on you calories. Just try to stay within you goal intake range for the day. Don't worry, you'll bounce back!

Hi Jennifer

If you put on weight through water retention because you havent drank enough water - that trick of drinking extra water can work. I believe the body thinks that it has hit a drought and basically stops releasing water which adds to the scales. Drinking plenty of water convinces it that there is no drought so it can release water freely.

If I were you I would try and boost your water consumption to 2 litres. You often list 1L or 1.5 L. Most experts recommend 2 litres (I buy in litres in England) or 64 ounces (which is actually slightly less).

A lot of us have difficulty getting our water consumption in - I try not to drink other drinks until I have finished the 2 litre bottle of water that I keep in my fridge.

MissT, Margaret

Miss T - Thanks for finding me! :) You both are right, I need to up my water intake. I try to drink 2 liters a day. I have a water bottle that I sip on throughout the day. I try not to drink too late at night cuz I hate waking up to pee. lol. But yeah. I guess I need more water, at least 2 liters. That's something that I'm gonna have to work on.

Thank you both for stopping by! Hope your day went well.

Hey Jennifer ;)

To me, there's nothing worse than getting a good walk in on the treadmill and having to stop to go pee. That doesn't happen when I go to the gym in the morning, but it sure happens when I go at night. I still manage to drink over 2 quarts a day which I think translates into almost 2 liters? I'm horrible in math!

Good luck on that water intake. I'm sure drinking more will help with the loss.
Keep up the good work!
Anne

hey jennifer!!

i'll agree on with you about the water- it'll definitely help out a lot!! i found that if i drink 6-8 glasses of water, i don't snack as much... which is good for me cause i'm always snacky snacky snacky... lol

keep up the great work! you're doing awesome :coolgleamA:

Anne, Starry,

I did better with my water intake today. Well actually I just chugged down a bunch of water. lol. Have a good night guys and thanks for the support and suggestions!

I don't know what it is, but I just don't feel well at all. I keep sneezing. I know myself well enough to know that I don't have a cold. Maybe it's just allergies or something. I didn't feel well yesterday either, so I just rested instead of exercising. I guess that must've worked cuz I'm down a few more ounces today. :)

The cool thing is that I didn't feel well last week either, and decided not to exercise, and then I dropped in weight. That's pretty good. I'm gonna start listening to my body more.

Food for yesterday:

Breakfast: Honey Bunches of Oats, skim milk - 405
Snack: Sugar-free chocolate, Yogurt Bar - 224
Lunch: Panani, 20 Grapes, Pear - 511
Snack: Peanut Butter Rice Cake - 60
Dinner: Mini Tacos - 360
Snack: Sugar-free chocolate - 150

Total: 1710 cals

Water: 1 Liter

Exercise: None

Food for today:

Breakfast: Honey Bunches of Oats, skim milk (405 cals)
Snack: Healthy Choice Ice Cream Sandwich (130 cals)
Lunch: LiveSmart Popcorn Chicken, Rice Cake (180 cals)
Snack: 20 grapes (60 cals)
Dinner: BK Whopper, Side Salad (680 cals)
Snack: 15 grapes (45 cals)

Total: 1500 cals

Water: 2 Liters

Exercise: 30 minutes Walk N Tone

The back of my thighs are killing me. I need to do some hamstring stretches or something. I know it's from working out. In Walk N Tone, I do this move where I have to kick my legs back... and I guess it's getting to me. But I guess that's a good thing, I know the exercise is working. But every time I sit down I can feel it.

Anyway. That's it for me.

You are doing beautifully LFR! You have been really committed and I'm proud of you :). That salad at BK, well that is astounding will power girl.

As for the water, its certainly good to drink it rather than other stuff but I dont know about the need for gallons of it. On the other hand, maybe I'm wrong and should try it to push past this plateau. It seems a lot of people on the WL boards always talk about drinking lots of water and "getting your water in", but most people in "real life" of average weight or who are not dieting dont focus on it so much. I dunno..

Hi Jennifer

The waking up to pee is the annoying problem with drinking all that water. I get that too. I suspect that slim people do not notice that they are carrying an extra pound or two of water. It is people trying to lose weight that weigh themselves a lot and care more whether it is a pound lighter or heavier.

I am sorry that you are not feeling 100% - I hope that you feel better soon.

Despite that you are being good with your food and doing exercise when you feel up to it. Well done.

Take care

Blancita - The only thing I drink is water. I might have a diet juice here or there, but mostly just water. So I know I'm getting water in me, whether I drink enough of it or not. A lot of health professionals say that you must get in a lot of water. It's good for hydration so your body doesn't hold onto water and make you gain water weight. As for your plateau, I think you'll get passed it, and maybe upping the water will help. Keep trying different things. :) And thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great day. :)

Margaret - Thank you for your support. :)Ugh. I just sneezed! I hope I'm not getting sick. I'm gonna take some vitamin C soon and hopefully things clear up fast. My throat is kinda scratchy. Blah. I can't get sick now.

Legs are so sore this morning! The stretches aren't working. Booo...

BUT...BUT... I woke up this morning and got on the scale said 282.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG. I wasn't expecting that. Amazing.

HOOT AND HOLLAR FRIEND, that's GREAT NEWS! Congrats on the weight loss, keep it going!!! You should be proud, I know I am!!! WAY TO GO!!

[COL:seeya:OR="Red"]GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!![/COLOR]

Hi Jennifer

That is nearly two pounds down from Sunday - even though it went up with the burger indulgence on Monday. Wow.

Congratulations.

I hope your cold doesn't amount to anything. We take a multivitamin every day and on the first sign of a sniffle from either of us we take echinacea for two weeks. We are sure that it helps.

Sorry about the legs.

Take care
Love
Margaret
