Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Great to hear about your progress. Curious why you disagree with the bars carrying NA Beer? Allows people who might be otherwise pressured to drink when they don't want to still have something in their hand.

I think they should carry the NA beers, I just don't think they should be forced to by law.

I´d agree they need to have non-alcoholic beverages, but NA beer specifically? That´s oddly specific. Glad you´re doing so well though!

175 this morning. 30.3 on the waist.

Gonna make turkey tacos this evening. I guess they're called "turkos." Who knew?

My BIL just got back from a holiday to Germany & loved that they had NA beers on tap. He is alcoholic & was given an ultimatum by G's sister that he had to choose between continuing to drink alcohol & be no longer married to her, or giving up alcohol. He stopped drinking about 5-6 years ago. He has really missed the feeling of sitting around in a group drinking, telling jokes etc & had felt that he had lost his joy. He has been depressed for years and years. He had a ball in Germany. I think it was so much a part of who he thought he was & he didn't know how to be that person without alcohol. I am going to make a point of buying some NA beer to have in our home for when he visits next. Personally, I think it's a good thing if stocking NA beer is compulsory in bars. There would be so many people I think who would alternate if it was available. Making something compulsory seems like such a big brother thing to do, but would have better health outcomes.
How were the turcos Vee?

Bailed on the turcos as I got slightly lazy and went for the easier "pasta with meat sauce" with the meat in this case being turkey. So I guess it was 'pasturk' or something.

175.5 this morning and leg day is complete. Limped home from the gym. Very workout, much sore.

Yeah that about sums it all up.

175.5 this morning. been frozen a bit around there this week. Just got back from sprint intervals. May take a dip in the pool later.

I plan on swimming this Summer. I miss swimming. When you live in the sticks it's harder. Our local pool is tiny & is usually filled with little kids and teenagers & the school pool you can hire, but you have to hire it on your own & take off covers etc. I want to swim in the ocean this year. I just ordered some new bathers- a burkini. :D Not really a burkini, but close.

Veeeeee!
Hi old friend. Holy crap...you are below 200! You are my new role model.
Except for the near beer. They might kick me out of Texas if I was seen with one of those lol

WELCOME BACK BRAWNY!!!

Yeah, I got all the way back down to 162 at one point last year, but was really weak and not all that healthy looking. Been doing a lot of lifting since, though the diet hasn't always been great.

175.5 this morning after a week long trip to visit my sister. Which is pretty good since I had little control over my food choices and little access to a workout environment. One of the days I did a lot of pushups and lifted heavy rocks above my head. The others i did lots of walking and hiking.

Back home now and legs workout in about an hour.

Happy Labor Day to the Americans and happy Monday to everyone else!

Happy Labor Day to you Vee. Hope you had an enjoyable visit with your sister.
You saying that about looking weak & not healthy-looking at 162, has me re-thinking my plan to get back to my 2007 weight. I was so pleased with myself, but many people thought I was sick & G thought I was too thin. According to all the charts, I wasn't. It's such a fine line this being happy with your body, listening to everyone else, charts etc. I don't think we see ourselves as others see us. 3kg lighter I feel really slim. That's crazy!
I think eating healthy is better for our self-esteem, regardless of what the scales say. It does feel like nurturing your body, rather than punishing it.
It's nice having you around again, xo C

That last line is way too close for comfort :)

To comment on what cate and MrVee said about (perhaps) going too far (or not). I think there is a limit to how much weight loss is healthy / good-looking. I think if you notice that you have less energy, that is when you went too far. If you don't like how you look in the mirror, you also might want to gain some weight (after all, it's your own body and you get to decide what to do with it). However, if other people tell you you lost too much weight, well, they could be right, but if you are still healthy and everything (that is really important), I think there are good reasons to ignore them.

I mean, people around the world are getting fatter and fatter, and I think it's not only their physical bodies are growing, their images of what a human should look like also seem to grow with this. So, if you were obese, but now you reach a BMI of 22, people could warn you that you are too thin (even though you have a healthy BMI). Also, people could be jealous, or they just don't like to see you changing.

I predict that when I reach my target weight of 75 kg (BMI 21.7), people will approach me to say that I am too thin.

While I will ignore those people, I will, like MrVee, decide by myself whether or not this is too thin. If I notice that I am weaker and I just don't like how I look, I will make sure that I gain a bit again.

174.5 this morning. That's actually the low water mark for quite some time now.

For me it comes down to lean mass. I want to carry a certain amount of lean mass (preferably at least 150 pounds), while getting my body fat lower. The problem is that doing both at the same time is very hard to do. So you're forced to pick one for a while, and then do the other, and rinse and repeat.

& you do know what you're doing I'm sure. I do hope that you are proud of what you have achieved Vee. You have worked very hard for that body xoC

Thanks Cate. But alas, still more work to do to get to that elusive "peak sexy."

172.5! this morning, which is kind of surprising, but I'll definitely take it.

Congratulations on 172.5 lbs!"Peak sexy" is so elusive because it´s not a monolith.
