Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Did your finger hug a basketball at high speed?
It tried. The basketball didn't reciprocate and smashed it all up.

Have an appointment on Friday with a hand specialist.

It's mobile and I can bend it and grip things (though that hurts a little), but it looks absolutely terrible. Hopefully it's just a matter of him snapping it back into place: 10 seconds of excruciating pain, followed by it not being much of a problem anymore.

Cool pic, your finger looks so thin though, it´s a good thing you´re bulking now!
:icon_bs: sorry, it looks like everything just snapped out of place doesn´t it? Hope you´re right and it´ll just snap back.

Looking for those sweet pinky finger gainz!

174.5 this morning (it's a long story), 30.0 inches on the waist 26.3% on the monitor.

Today was no lifting, cardio day. Tomorrow I go to the hand doctor. Theoretically it's possible he could tell me not to lift weights for a bit, in which case I might have to end my bulk early. If I can't lift weights, there's no way I'm going to eat at a surplus.

But I suspect that won't be the case.

Welcome back Lucy!

Talked to a hand surgeon on Friday and the hand surgeon wants me to get surgery. What a surprise. I'm going to call about and get a second opinion ("okay, you're ugly too" *rimshot*) as I'm not keen on the surgery option. I'd rather actually pay my rent.

Last two days of weightlifting in a splint have been... interesting. Dumb bells are not my friend right now, but everything else is doable if at times painful.

Did a radio interview last night that i think went pretty well (my friends and family all complimented me on my performance anyway). Wasn't on for long but the introduction i got was really humbling in how effusive their praise was of me. Trying to work myself up to going on a TV show I've been asked to come on.

Happy Labor Day to all the 'Mericans on here and happy Monday to everyone else.

Congratulations on the radio performance! I really hope the other doc can find a conservative solution (though maybe asking surgeon not to cut things open is too much), get well soon!

Well done on the radio performance Vee. A sign of increased confidence and self-esteem? Nice! I was going to attempt something cheeky along the lines of "your face is perfect for radio" but I'm not feeling cheeky enough:) Hope you can get your finger fixed soon :( xoCate

Judging by the content of your diary it sounds like the radio introduction you received is well deserved. You've shared a lot of hard work and dedication to get where you are now and it would be nice if your story reaches as wide an audience as possible.

Great job as always continuing to work out even with the finger injury and I'll join all the others hoping it mends quickly.

Boo for the pinky! Woo hoo for the radio interview and TV show! You have to do the TV show. Think of how many people you've inspired (myself included) already. You can help a lot of people by sharing your journey on TV. You might get some lady attention out of it too.

Booo pinky finger!! If you have a bit of struggle with it maybe consider wrist straps while you're lifting? I use them because my grip strength SUCKS but I imagine if you're injured or have impaired grip they'd be just as useful.

Congrats on the radio interview!! :D

Alright an update:

First off, just to clarify on the radio thing: it had nothing to do with my weight loss. The industry I work in is high profile and from time to time I'm asked for my expert advice/comments. Usually it's newspapers or websites or blogs, but I've now done radio twice this year and have been asked if I was interested in doing TV (which would require me traveling to New york to do so).

Attempted the pull workout for the second time and it was a little easier today. Still some pain but manageable. The finger in general feels better.

Unfortunately the "bulk" is over as it requires me to lift heavier and heavier weights progressively, and trying to lift as much as I was even last week is hard (but I'm doing it). So the schedule has to be adjusted and I'm back to cutting for the next 5 weeks or so until my pinky heals to the point where I don't need a splint. At this point the splint is as much a hindrance as the injury itself.

The weight, of course, jumps all over the place when you go from eating at surplus to eating at a deficit. It's a good way to lose 6 pounds in two days, though those pounds are going to be pretty meaningless. For now the goal is to try and maintain my lifts and lose about a pound a week from here until about mid-October.

Lucy,

Looking into straps as theoretically they should help a ton in my current state, but don't know whether I should go cheap and take my chances or get something good that's more expensive. If it's the latter, I guess I'm committed to using straps even after I heal up.

Hi Vee, That is very flattering re the TV suggestion. Is that why you have been testing out your videos? You are going from strength to strength(& I nearly deleted that as the pun was not intended). Your life is moving forward in many interesting ways. Maybe going to New York would make it even more interesting.

Sorry that you had to changed your plan up due to your pinky finger. I hope it heals quick and you can start your next bulk on time!

So I'm back on the weight loss thing the last few days, been 171 for a few consecutive days, but suspect I'll be lower tomorrow as I've had a perfect day calories wise (after a few less than perfect ones).

Had spent a few days this week at the local watering holes and for some reason wound up chatting up women and getting nowhere with any of them (though to be fair, I wasn't exactly enthralled with any of them myself. I think I was just bored). I suppose that part is good for me ("talking about practice"), but the spending long nights out in bars is not, so I kinda gotta cut that out. Gonna lay off the beer for as long as possible as it's just not my friend.

Speaking of which, all of my friends are now in relationships (including one that is a full on disaster just waiting to happen) and pretty much do not go out any more, at least not with me. There's a concert next weekend (The Old 97s!) and I might be able to drag one of them there with me.

Pinky hurts less and less every day, but I guess the main concern is how deformed (and functional) it will be eventually be once everything's all healed. I've resigned myself to arthritis in it down the line, but hopefully I'm a TV star by then and can afford all the best medical treatment...

So having a op is out? Hope you enjoyed your bar-hopping anyway!
Also hope you get one of your friends to go with next w/e xoC
