Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Alright been a very busy week after a very busy month, but going to try and post and weigh a little more regularly now and catch up on a few diaries. I'm also going to try and knuckle down and see if I can't make one last big weight loss push before settling into "phase two" so to speak.

So starting off at 191 this morning which is a new low and a good start. Three and a half pounds from halftime.

According to this:

At 5'11" 191 pounds, I am now exactly at the 50th percentile among American men my age in terms of BMI (26.6).

Even more interestingly (I'm not sure this is possible, but it does make some sense) I think my height may have increased by roughly half an inch. Back in the 360 pound days after I got my medical scale, I measured my height at around 70.5 inches. I made a mark on my now famous bathroom wall and measured that and confirmed it. Today, for grins, I used the scale again for my height and I was a tick above 71 inches. I measured again on the bathroom wall, and indeed the new mark was about half an inch above the old one.

That sounds nuts at first blush, but between pressure on my spine and also downward pressure on the ligaments and cartilage and joints and stuff, I think it is quite possible for natural posture to improve to the point where you "grow".

What this really means is that when I was 5'10.5", I was actually 5'11". All of my online calculators and stuff were all set to 70.5 inches, so I'm actually a touch further ahead than I thought I was.

I'm on the 73rd percentile with my weight of today. I used my old stats as well for the sake of comparison and I was on '> 98th percentile', so I'll gladly take 73...

Your looking great MrVee! Yours is an amazing transformation.

190.5 this morning, a new low.

I've shown better focus this week on the diet, not just calories wise but making sure I'm eating what I should for my meals and stuff. I almost never have fish even though much of it is so good for you, so last night I had some salmon fillets that were on sale. Pretty good stuff.

Today I go back to the dentist for a crown and a filling. So the upshot is I get to be in a lot of physical discomfort and as a reward I get to shell out about $1,700. Hopefully I won't come out of there feeling too bad.

190.5 is awesome! The dentist is always a win/win. I would believe the height increase the lack of compression force plus the increase in muscles that support upright posture like the erectors spinae could easily account for a half inch. Good luck on reaching your maintenance phase soon.

190.5! I really do admire your sheer determination Vee. We haven't been eating enough fish lately either & had fish last night. I love fish, especially salmon. Will we see a smile soon then, in your monthly pic? Cheers, Cate.

Just popped in again to let you know that you & Quercus have inspired me to get back on track today. I have had a great day & feel wonderful. I had forgotten just how good exercise makes me feel! Thanks Vee for being an inspiration to get some routine happening again! Cheers, Cate.

Woohoo!!! You're so close to your next goal!!! Urgh sorry about the dentist. I've finally made another appt for next fortnight, yikes!

Just got back from golf. 192.5 this morning without a whole lot of guesses as to why.

Oh well. The dating front has been ice cold, but it appears I do have a first date type thing happening next Thursday. We'll see.

Still feel like I need to drop about twenty more pounds to achieve "peak sexy" but for now the plan is simply to stay the course. It's really not worth worrying too much about when I should switch to maintenance, because the adjustment would be so minor now (eat 450 more calories a day) that staying the current course really isn't much of a sacrifice.

Hehehe, peak sexy. Really MrVee you do look amazing, you can't let your weight hold you back now!!

I typed a bunch of random recipes in my journal, if I've gone in the wrong direction let me know. I tend to fixate on just a few recipes for a month or two, so these are the ones that are in my head right now! Happy to dig around for something else or make something up if there's something specific you're craving!

Normally I do half pound increments, but every now and then the exact weight seems to settle right in the middle. And since today's weight is interesting I'll list quarter pound increments. 189.75 this morning, obviously a new low since I haven't seen the 180s since probably my mid 20s.

I was foolish several times yesterday. I rushed out to the golf course without sun screen yesterday, hopefully the sunburn is the worst that will happen to me. I also, after dinner, played quite a few hours of basketball. About an hour too many. The good news is that I got plenty of exercise yesterday, the bad news is I can feel it right now.

Lots of chores and housecleaning today. May go see the legendary Dick Dale tonight. He's got to be in his 70s by now, but he most love what he's doing.

-2.75 in a day into the 180s!? :D <That's me happy for you while green with jealousy. WOW! 2.05 pounds until halftime!

everybody: How much have you lost?
V: Do you see me?
everybody: uh, yeah.
V:That's how much.

Well things have now officially taken a turn for the weird. 188.5 this morning (probably closer to 188.25 actually). That's 186.5 pounds lost. Waist measurement of 34.4, though I've learned that I'm not very good at taking that reliably.

Personal training in little over a half an hour, so I gots to go get ready. Will probably take a mountain hike after as time is running out for that for a while.

Hell yeah! At 34.4" your nearly half foot below the point of elevated health risk. I hope you have a great session and hike!

188.5 this morning as it appears the big drop last week is a real one.

The NIH model suggests that I reach 170 pounds on August 28 which would put my waist measurement at around 32 inches at that time. That's 136 days away.
