Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

301 again on Saturday morning. Had a cheese omelet, two strips of bacon and then made some hash browns in the bacon fat in the pan from a small Yukon gold potato. I figure that's right around 550 to 600 calories (the potato is the hard part to calculate). Whatever, it tasted good and it's amazing what a cheap breakfast that is (it probably comes out to about $1.30 for everything).

Decided a nice rich breakfast would be good as I'm gonna do some mountain hiking today. It should get up to around 60 and that's as warm as it's going to be for about three weeks until the very good weather comes back. Good chance to get some hiking in.

Luz's heart rate monitor adventures led me to finally figure out how to work the calorie counter on mine that I've had since July. Turned it on for my personal training yesterday. It lasted 27 minutes and 10 seconds, I had an average heart rate of 143 and, according to the monitor, I burned 715 calories??? That can't be right.

So I checked this:

And it said 458 calories which sounds more reasonable. I dunno. It's all a mystery to me. However the average heart rate stuff will still be nice for when I'm just playing basketball or otherwise not doing a focused workout. Let me know how much effort I'm really giving.

Ya, I have heard that some HRM's really give exaggerated calorie counts, especially for people who are a little heavier. But I am glad that the average heart rate feature will benefit you. Have fun on your hike!

301.5 and a sore throat today. Model is 301.9 so it's back closer to what it more or less should be. My weight the last week or so is sort of why I'm keeping the model: it definitely helps organize my thoughts on how I'm doing and keeps me from freaking out both good and bad (well I still freak out 'good' but not 'bad').

Sundays tend to be my day of rest in terms of workout, and today will be no exception. I pushed hard on Thursday and Friday and the mountain hiking yesterday certainly was a workout too. Will be golfing with the family tomorrow.

wow, mountain climbing?? neat! good for you! I havn't really started exercising yet, but i'll get there. I also created a progress chart so I can keep from being discouraged during those occasional weeks I won't lose weight....glad i'm not the only one. Hope you have a good, well deserved day off!!

Mountain hiking, not climbing. If I ever find myself holding onto the side of a mountain by my fingers, it means I've fallen off. Call a helicopter. :D

Hope you're enjoying your day of rest! Sounds like you deserve it. :)
I don't deserve it, but I'm enjoying it anyway. Now if I can just get the Packers to win, I get another week of football.

300.5 on New Years Eve. Today is also the final weigh-in for the December challenge.

Playing golf in a little bit with the family. Unfortunately looks like today will be the coldest day of the winter as the weather says it will only get up to 51. Oh well, still beats where I grew up.

I don't know when the last year was that I weighed as little as I do now, but I'm thinking it has to be at least 10 years. The model on New Years Eve next year says 205.7 pounds. Some milestones for the new year:

Crack 300 in the morning: January 5.
100 pounds lost: March 24.
Weight below 250: June 20.
One year on program (July 1): 246.8, 128.2 pounds lost in the year.
Birthday weight: 235.
Under 25% Body fat (by model): December 23.

So there you go. I'll try and remember to see whether I hit these.

Thinking about ways to measure my body fat%. All of the little online calculators say it's less than you would think using just my height and weight, but I'm not sure you can trust any of those.

Belated congrats on dipping below the 300 mark!!!!!! Way to stick to your guns during the holidays! Happy New Year Bud!

Although I haven't managed to read through your whole diary yet I have to say goodluck! It's nice to see a couple of big guys active on here to try to keep pace with! :)

You are so close to breaking the 200s! Even now when I go to say my weight I auto start with 3... then stop! :) It's a good feeling lol.

Steve

Thanks for stopping by Steve. A few days ago when I weighed 301 in the morning I actually did go through a little nonsense a few hours later to be able to hop on and register a weight below 300. So I already have cracked it in a sense. It should now be a regular thing very soon.

Happy New Year all. The most I've weighed this entire year is only around 300 pounds. :)

As a general rule, with the doctor's office scale I've tended to just record my weight in half pound increments to make things easy. But I think I'll make an exception for today.

299.75 this morning as this will be my first morning weigh-in under 300 (just barely). Look at that '2', isn't it majestic? Model weight is 300.8 so I remain under that.

What's not majestic is this cold I've been stuck with since Saturday. It's lung cookie Wednesday this morning and to make things more difficult it's also personal training day today in an hour and a half. They call it a 'medicine ball' but somehow I don't think that kind of medicine will cure my cold.

Stay tuned as later today it's picture day wherein I scare everyone with a picture of me and my progress.

Congrats on being in the 200's again! Sorry about the cold. I promise I won't infect you again..lol. Feel better! :)

I had one of those glorious "2"s for a single day, it was lovely! Keep up the good work, you survived the holidays, the next few months should be a breeze!

It's picture time (the start of the month), so hide the kids and anyone with a weak heart. Here's my post workout pic today:

You can sort of see that my Diamondbacks shirt isn't hanging on me correctly any more. When the pants got too big it was obvious, but the shirts have been a more subtle thing.

And now the dreaded comparison pic:

Apparently I'm having trouble with the date today as I leaped ahead into the future tomorrow, but that's close enough provided disaster doesn't strike today. I would have thought 75 pounds would have looked far more different and it does body wise (but even that isn't a huge difference). I'm still way too big, so I guess until I'm smaller it won't hit me as much.

Feel free to draw mustaches and other types of graffiti on these.

Thank you. Surprised you guessed my typical evening attire so well. The disappearance of the monocle from modern fashion was a tragedy.

Agreed! Although I'm personally more of a pince nez gent myself.
