Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Hi V, Just got my laptop back after a few days without it. That sucks about your injury, but you could still swim! You'll be there soon, I'm sure xo Cate

Ankle is very swollen this morning, but that's to be expected. It was pretty useless on Friday and got it x-rayed just to be sure (what was I going to spend that money on anyway). Useless yesterday morning, but improved yesterday afternoon. I'm staggering around still, but the staggering is a little easier. If my life depended on it, I could walk normal for five seconds, I think.

The weigh ins for the last three days 202 on Friday, 201.5 on Saturday and 200! this morning! That's a new low and so I took my sleep clothes off and [strike]hopped[/strike] stepped back on for a cool 199.5.

So unofficially I've broken 200, but officially I'm at 200 today.

If my ankle follows the same pattern as yesterday, going to go to the gym and try a few minutes on the elliptical using the poles mostly. Even if that doesn't work out, I can at least lift weights as long as I'm seated or kneeling.

Hopefully I'll break 200 officially tomorrow.

SO exciting!!! Congrats I really hope it happens for you today! maybe I should injure myself to see if I can drop a few..... :)

Super cool on the "unofficial" <200 even with your ankle retaining fluid. Don't push it too much. A sprain has to rest to heal. Resting so far has helped the ankle and broken your weight stall so don't shortchange it. Listen to your body and give it time if it needs it. Official or not, WELCOME TO ONEDERLAND!!!

Ouch! I hope your ankle heals soon! I'm sure you're itching to get to working out normally again. Hopefully soon you'll be back at it again.

Unofficial or not it had to feel damn good to see a number that didn't start with a 2 huh? Congrats, I'm sure you'll OFFICIALLY break it very soon. Will keep my fingers crossed that tomorrow's the day. :)

200 even again this morning.

Went to the gym yesterday to test out a few things to see what I'm capable of doing without too much problem. The rundown:

Elliptical: tried using just the poles and letting my legs coast along. Man that's hard and tiring. Tried half and half and that seemed to work okay. A little dicey on my injured ankle, but nothing too bad. Really good workout.

Recumbent bike: this gave me no problems at all for my ankle so is a good failsafe cardio option.

Pull ups and dips (weight assisted): they've got a machine with a platform where you can use counter-weights to give assistance on pull ups and dips. So I used that to get a little bit of a bicep and tricep workout. No problems for my ankle as you kneel on the platform.

Did some crunches with a weight resting on my feet and that posed no pain or problems for my ankle.

Shot a few free throws and while it felt a little weird, it didn't hurt. :)

In any event, I have personal training late this afternoon, and I talked to my trainer and I'm going to go. It's core day today, so most of those exercises put little to no strain on the ankle (and we can skip any that do). That combined with bike for warm-up and cool-down and I should be able to get the session in without too much difficulty.

Ankle feels a little better every day, but is a long long way from 100% still. But I no longer feel immobilized, just limpy everywhere.

The bad news is that several days of being laid up has led to a certain amount of housework neglect. Will have to do some today. :(

You will officially break the 200 barrier in no time MrVee, it is a matter of just a couple days (maybe not even a couple) now.

Take care of your ankle! I hope it heals soon. :)

Do you sometimes wonder Mr Vee at what you have done & how far you have come & how much you have changed your life around? I hope you do. I am positive that you have been personally responsible for inspiring many people to keep going. I sometimes say that my middle names are "never give up" Perhaps we're related! Soon you'll be at your new goal weight & you will need to adjust to that. It will take a while to get used to that, but you're a smart guy & I'm sure you'll kick that too! Well done Mr Vee!

Thanks for the kind words Cate (and everyone else). Yeah I'm a little stunned at my progress actually. I really did think I was tilting at windmills when I started this, but was desperate enough to give it a try anyway. A very pleasant surprise that I've succeeded so far.

200 again this morning. I have however moved the poise to the '150' slot on my scale. Thinking I might just weld the thing right there so it can't move. I don't want to weigh 149 and hope I can leave 201 in my rear view mirror forever very soon.

Did my personal training session last night. Looks like the exercise bike puts the least stress on my ankle in terms of cardio, so I'm going to rely on that to some extent. The elliptical works too and is in some ways a much better workout. But if I'm on longer than 6 minutes or so the ankle starts to get a little sore from the flexing.

That said, the ankle continues to get much better each passing day, and taped up and in a high top shoe last night (went to see the band Parquet Courts) I was down to only the slightest little limp. Going to do some more cardio later this afternoon. 5 minutes on, rest for a minute or so, 5 more on, rest, repeat.

Glad your ankle's improving AND that you're still able to get some exercise in. In all honesty, I think I'd be using it as an excuse NOT to have to exercise. Shameful I know! Just goes to show how determined and serious you are about all of this. :)

200.5 this morning.

Personal training tonight. Ankle a little better but the rate of improvement has slowed a bit.

Yours is the 1st diary I have been checking for the last couple of weeks, hoping to see that elusive 199 Mr Vee, so I can guess how frustrating it might feel for you. Of course, we both know, that you will be there soon, but still....... I'm listening to "Stoned and Starving" as I type this. I don't think I could see them & not dance! I have always loved good rock music! (growing up in the 60's & 70's!) Cheers, Cate

200 this morning.

Ankle doing quite well. Guessing I'll start doing some light treadmill work next week and see how that goes. For now just doing bike or elliptical and then any resistance training I can come up with.
